Returning to Infancy with my Nemesis - Chapter 61
On the way back, Tang Mian kept a close eye on Fu Shizhao’s emotional changes.
Although Fu Shizhao seemed unaffected, Tang Mian couldn’t help but worry. Even more nervous than him was Fu Yu, Fu Shizhao’s father.
The bodyguards directly took them to Fu Shizhao’s home.
Fu Yu had been waiting at the door early, and upon their return, he anxiously inquired about Fu Shizhao’s injuries, clearly aware that Fu Shizhao had learned about his true identity, feeling quite uneasy.
Tang Mian casually tossed the empty bubble tea cup into the trash bin, then climbed upstairs with the large, adult Samoyed, leaving the space entirely to the father and son.
They needed to have a good talk.
Tang Mian wasn’t worried about any discord between them; he was just concerned that Fu Shizhao might find it difficult to accept the truth about his biological parents. After all, in the internal struggles of the Fu family, his biological parents were indirectly or directly killed.
He didn’t know when Fu Shizhao found out about this in the previous life.
But he could tell that Fu Shizhao was seeking “revenge.”
He obtained what those people had desperately desired, willing to pay any price for, and exchanged it for a new batch of blood. So, he suspected if Fu Shizhao intentionally distanced himself from him.
Yet, he couldn’t figure out the reason behind Fu Shizhao’s distancing.
Perhaps… he actually had the answer in his heart.
Even if Fu Shizhao told him about this, he couldn’t help him. He was just a pampered young master who grew up in comfort.
While Mu Zichen could help him. This answer had troubled his emotions for a long time.
Tang Mian knew he was quite foolish; his business acumen couldn’t compare to his brother and Fu Shizhao.
In the previous life, he tapped into some potential due to being forced into a corner, coupled with exceptionally good luck, making all his collaborations smooth. By a stroke of luck, he also obtained evidence to bring down the Tang Wei family. [t/n : No babe its not luck. ]
Fu Shizhao didn’t need him, so he distanced himself, which was normal. But this reason made it even more unacceptable. He would rather believe that Fu Shizhao, after being found and brought back, became the lofty young master of the Fu family and grew arrogant and distant.
He had been using this excuse to deceive himself.
Suddenly, a soft mass nudged him.
Tang Mian refocused his gaze on the fluffy Samoyed beside him. Seeing Tang Mian looking at it, Snowball’s tail wagged rapidly.
Snowball had grown into a big dog now, and at fifteen, Tang Mian could lean his whole body against it.
Cotton Candy, on the other hand, hadn’t changed much over the years. Sometimes, when it curled up in Snowball’s fur, it was almost impossible to spot. Tang Mian leaned against it.
No matter how much he thought about it, those were things from the past life, and he would never know the answers. There was no need to distress himself.
He should focus on how to face this life with Fu Shizhao. Fu Shizhao’s room was quite different from when he was young; it was redecorated when he entered junior high, as Fu Shizhao had outgrown some of the old furnishings. Grandma Fu had someone replace everything with a new style.
The only constant was the dolls they used to play with, still scattered in various corners of the room. The security cameras inside the room were removed, and Fu Shizhao developed a habit of writing in a diary. Tang Mian had seen many of his diary entries.
It was a loose-leaf notebook.
The pages inside were pure white, without any grids for assistance, but Tang Mian knew that Fu Shizhao never wrote crookedly, regardless of how much he wrote on them.
He had accidentally seen a bit of content on one page, recording the incident where they went out for hotpot, spilled seasoning on their clothes, and couldn’t clean it properly. The handwriting was beautiful, but the experience that day was quite amusing.
Later, the clothes couldn’t be cleaned, and the smell of hotpot lingered, so they had to throw them away. Tang Mian suddenly raised his hand and touched his own stomach. He suddenly craved hotpot.
When Fu Shizhao returned, Tang Mian was looking at hotpot restaurants on his phone.
Hearing Fu Shizhao opening and closing the door and approaching him, Tang Mian’s gaze shifted from the phone screen to him. Fu Shizhao’s expression seemed a bit off.
Fu Shizhao sat directly beside him and leaned against him. Tang Mian cautiously asked, “What’s wrong?”
“I found out some things,” Fu Shizhao said.
Tang Mian pursed his lips, and his heartbeat involuntarily sped up. “Can you share it with me?”
Fu Shizhao suddenly smiled.
Tang Mian tilted his head in confusion. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing,” Fu Shizhao continued to smile, “I just feel it doesn’t quite sound like something Ge would say. The correct response should be ‘Tell me about it.'”
Tang Mian, after hearing this, glared at him and silently thought, “Poor Fu Shizhao for having bad luck in his life.”
Then, he put on a fierce and intimidating expression and said, “Quick, speak.”
If Fu Shizhao hadn’t been injured, Tang Mian would have playfully kicked his leg. But since he was in a joking mood, the situation probably wasn’t too dire.
Fu Shizhao quickly straightened up, suppressing his playful smile, and continued, “My biological parents were killed by people from the Fu family.”
Tang Mian couldn’t help but feel a pang in his heart.
Fu Yu did indeed directly disclose all the information to Fu Shizhao even though Fu Shizhao was only fifteen, and some might consider it too early. Fu Shizhao observed Tang Mian’s reaction and continued to narrate the events surrounding his parents.
His adoptive father did reveal these things to him, but it wasn’t his intention. He deliberately “coaxed” the information out of him, and Fu Shizhao also probed him for some details. At least now, he no longer treated himself as a child—fifteen was not too young.
His adoptive father had no suspicions either, as Grandma Fu had been taking care of him with dedication all these years. While he pretended to be clueless externally, internally, he understood his adoptive father’s perspective.
His adoptive father naturally stood by his side and supported him unconditionally.
When Grandma Fu returned, he would have to have another “heart-to-heart” with her.
In recent years, Grandma Fu’s health had deteriorated, which was inevitable as people aged. No matter how much money and influence one had, it couldn’t replace a healthy body.
He didn’t want her to worry anymore.
Grandma Fu would surely pass on the shares to him, and after her death, everything she owned would go to him. This was the main reason he initially planned to stay by her side.
Now that the goal was achieved, he found it hard to feel truly happy. He only hoped she could live a long and healthy life.
After sharing his thoughts, Fu Shizhao silently waited for Tang Mian’s reaction.
Even though he had been through this once before, he still hoped for more reassurance from Tang Mian.
“Do you have any thoughts?” Tang Mian couldn’t help but cautiously probe.
“Revenge,” Fu Shizhao’s eyes gleamed, carrying a confidence that victory was inevitable.
Tang Mian, momentarily stunned, quickly grasped his hand and earnestly said, “I support you.”
“Fu Shizhao lightly hummed, Tang Mian was about to say something encouraging then he heard Fu Shizhao say.. “It might be difficult… Gege has to stay with me all the time.”
Tang Mian didn’t notice the change in how Fu Shizhao addressed him, from “ge” to “gege” , but he felt a deep touch in his heart.
Fu Shizhao didn’t mind that Tang Mian couldn’t help much; instead, he was happy that his young master relied on him.
He felt genuinely happy.
“I believe in you,” Tang Mian hooked his pinky finger with Fu Shizhao’s, “I’ll always be with you.”
Fu Shizhao smiled as they completed this little pinky promise.
If only he could have easily shared these things with Tang Mian in the previous life.
But in the previous life, his room was small, the furnishings were simple, yet it was filled with surveillance cameras everywhere. He couldn’t contact Tang Mian and didn’t want to drag him into that hell.
This time, his room was spacious, filled with the atmosphere of their shared life, and a large, goofy dog. There were no surveillance cameras; he could freely confide everything to Tang Mian.
“I support you. I believe in you. I’ll always be with you.” It sounded like sweet nothings.
But he meant it.
Just then, a rumbling sound abruptly echoed in the quiet and spacious room, seeming unusually abrupt.
“I’m hungry…”
Fu Shizhao’s smiling gaze fell on Tang Mian’s stomach.
Tang Mian was wearing a beige knitted sweater today, the fabric was very comfortable. Fu Shizhao couldn’t help but put his hand on his belly and gently rubbed it. Tang Mian, afraid of being tickled, quickly moved his hand away, not paying much attention to this small gesture.
He stood up and said, “Let’s get something to eat. It’s already past lunchtime, you must be hungry too.”
Fu Shizhao smiled and asked, “Do you want to go out to eat?”
He remembered that Tang Mian had been thinking about going to eat something delicious after his math competition today, but last night, Tang Mian didn’t want to disturb his revision, so they didn’t discuss it.
And according to their previous plan, they were supposed to spend the whole day tomorrow in the neighboring city, but now that plan was ruined because of this.
He still wanted to salvage the situation. Tang Mian hesitated and asked, “What about your injury… is it okay?”
Fu Shizhao replied, “It’s fine, let’s consider it as a way to relax.” Tang Mian thought about it and agreed.
Fu Shizhao had just learned so much information, it would be good for him to go out and digest it. His injury was on his arm, not his leg, so it wouldn’t affect their outing.
Fu Shizhao stood up again and held Tang Mian’s hand. “Let’s go, we’ll eat first, and after that, you’ll listen to my revenge plan.”
Tang Mian almost stumbled at the mention hearing about his revenge plan while eating outside.
Upon learning that they wanted to go out for a meal, Fu Yu initially wanted to accompany them, but Fu Shizhao refused and only asked their bodyguard who would bring them back to do the favor.
Fu Yu understood that he wanted to have a private conversation with Tang Mian, so he didn’t say anything more. Zhao Zhao had always been attached to his gege, even as they grew up. They really had grown up.
Tang Mian had overlooked one thing though. Fu Shizhao may be able to walk on his own since his leg wasn’t injured, but his right hand was injured, making it impossible for him to eat by himself.
Fu Shizhao wasn’t left-handed, and after several failed attempts to use his left hand to hold the chopsticks, Tang Mian finally couldn’t bear it and moved from across the table to sit beside him, becoming his personal caretaker.
They had hot pot for dinner. Fu Shizhao couldn’t eat spicy, so they ordered a half spicy and half clear broth hot pot. After it boiled, the aroma filled the air, and the temperature around them rose, making it warm. It was Saturday today, and the hot pot restaurant was crowded and lively, creating a great atmosphere.
Tang Mian thoughtfully put an apron on Fu Shizhao and tied a small bow behind him, to prevent any spills on his clothes, just like before. Tang Mian skillfully put the ingredients into the pot, and when they were cooked, he scooped them into our individual sauce dishes, so we could eat them after they cooled down a bit.
Tang Mian picked up a piece of meat with his chopsticks and brought it to Fu Shizhao’s mouth. Fu Shizhao took a bite and smiled, saying, “It’s delicious, I also want to eat that meatball.”
“It’s not cooked yet.”
“…huh….”
“I’ll give it to you when it’s cooked.”
“Okay…”
That night, Tang Mian stayed with Fu Shizhao and slept over at his place. After all, in his eyes, Fu Shizhao was at his most vulnerable recently, and he needed to be by his side.
The difference was that Tang Mian brought an extra bed and didn’t sleep on the same bed as Fu Shizhao, fearing that he might accidentally hold onto him while sleeping and affect his wound. He was well aware of his sleeping posture.
After having hot pot during the day, they still had the smell of hot pot on our bodies, so they needed to take a shower. While Tang Mian was in the bathroom, Fu Shizhao opened his diary and started writing with his left hand.
He wasn’t a left-handed person, but his left hand wasn’t clumsy either. The handwriting wasn’t as neat as when he wrote with his right hand, but it was still legible. He could eat with chopsticks using his left hand, but he just didn’t want to, that’s all.
?Today, I went out with my brother and had hot pot. My brother fed me the whole time, and I was very happy.?
?Today was another day where my brother took care of me like a child.?
