- Chapter 3 Part 2 - The Last Oracle and the Beginning of A Journey (Slight R19)
Then, a loud and majestic voice echoed through the split sky, accompanied by thunder. It sounded like a man’s voice and a woman’s voice, and yet at the same time, an old man’s voice and a child’s voice.
It wasn’t a human voice. This was the voice of a God. It was the divine oracle that Sosphus received. No one on that spot seemed to understand the content of the words, not just Eoleare. Only Sosphus understood.
Sosphus, who heard the voice, looked up at the sky with a very surprised expression. He didn’t move a muscle. What was the content of the divine oracle? Was it not about killing Eoleare?
Soon, the rain weakened and stopped. The sky, which had been flashing with lightning, became quiet. In the serene June sky, bathed in brilliant sunlight, Sosphus, who was soaked to the skin, stood up. Then he spoke to the emperor on the platform.
“God said this.”
Although he spoke in a low voice, Sosphus’ voice, amplified by divine power, echoed loudly enough for everyone in the square to hear.
“My precious son. This is the last divine oracle that I, your Father, give to you. Now, leave my temple and go far beyond the sea with your beloved companion who loves you and whom you love. I kept my promise to you. I fulfilled your wish. Now, I send you off. An infinite, eternal, and the only one happiness will await you on your journey.”
No one on that spot said a word. It wasn’t a divine oracle for the empire. It was a divine oracle only for Sosphus, the child whom God loved. The last divine oracle. Sosphus looked back at Eoleare and smiled widely like an innocent boy.
“How can God be so arbitrary… merciless… and yet so affectionate to your son.”
Arbitrary and merciless, but an endlessly affectionate being to the one he cherishes. Perhaps it’s not God, but Sosphus himself that he’s talking about.
Sosphus used his ungloved hands to forcefully release the rigid frame that held Eoleare’s neck. Then, he received a small key from a breathless soldier and unlocked Eoleare’s handcuffs and shackles. It was in stark contrast to when he had released Eoleare’s shackles with divine power without a key in the underground prison. When Eoleare looked at Sosphus with a bewildered expression, Sosphus smiled faintly.
“He said it was the last divine oracle. Now God is sending me off. So, I have no more divine power. I’m no longer a priest. I’m just an ordinary human being.”
As an ordinary human being, Sosphus lifted Eoleare up and held his wet body tightly in his arms. Eoleare faced Sosphus and touched his head and face with trembling hands.
Was this really Sosphus? Did he really survive? Are they now each other’s companions? Are they going to leave the empire and go far beyond the sea together? What was Sosphus’ wish that the Lord promised to fulfill? Sosphus answered all of Eoleare’s questions.
“Thank you for loving me, Eoleare.”
Then, Sosphus pressed his lips against Eoleare’s. They had kissed countless times before, but this was the first time they had such a warm, gentle, and devout kiss. Eoleare opened his mouth and surrendered himself to Sosphus.
Yes, that’s what it was. Sosphus’ wish was not just to have Eoleare’s body, but to also have his heart. Eoleare loving Sosphus. That was it.
“Yes.”
Eoleare no longer hesitated. He answered with confidence. From now on, their eyes full of tears of happiness, like the blue sea they will cross together.
“I love you, Sosphus.”
Sosphus replied,
“I love you too, Eoleare.”
It was an infinite, eternal, and the only one-of-a-kind pledge of love that they already knew even without saying a word.
? ? ?
Surprisingly, the Emperor of the Empire released Sosphus and Eoleare without any resistance. The divine oracle was absolute in the empire’s political decisions. If God commanded Sosphus and Eoleare to be sent across the sea, the emperor had no choice but to obey.
“They’re foolish.”
Sosphus said.
“God has no interest in the rise and fall of human kingdoms. He only chooses his own child and fulfills that child’s wish. The establishment of the empire and the conquest of Solas were just means to fulfill my wish. Now, there will be no more divine oracle for the empire.”
“Then, the empire won’t last long, is it?”
“If they don’t realize that they have to think, judge, and act for themselves, then yes.”
Sosphus said to keep that fact a secret. It was easier for Sosphus and Eoleare to make everyone believe that the so-called grace of the God still rested on the empire.
Before they knew it, it was already July on the calendar, and Sosphus and Eoleare, who had prepared for their journey, boarded a trading ship bound for the continent across the sea under the scorching sun of midsummer. The land beyond the sea, where they had to spend a month on the vast ocean to reach, would be a mysterious country that worshipped snakes as Gods.
Although the thought of settling there seemed daunting, having experienced being bound to the gallows, there was nothing more frightening. As long as they were alive, and as long as he lived with Sosphus, Eoleare didn’t care where that might be.
… or so Eoleare thought.
“Are you okay, Eoleare?”
Sosphus checked Eoleare’s complexion with a worried look on his face. It was no wonder because not long after boarding the ship, Eoleare suffered from severe seasickness and vomited everything he had eaten for breakfast into the sea.
Now that there was nothing left to vomit, his nausea had subsided, but he had become so weak that it was difficult to control his body. After washing his mouth, Eoleare lay down on the narrow bed in the cabin and closed his eyes, breathing heavily.
“I feel dizzy…”
“If I had divine power, I would have cast a healing spell, but I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. I just need to rest a bit.”
“We have to go for a month.”
“I’ll adapt by then.”
“By then, you might get seasick again even before we land.”
Eoleare weakly laughed at Sosphus’ joke. If it were usual, Eoleare would have at least rolled his eyes, but now Sosphus leaned next to Eoleare with a really worried look. Eoleare rested his ear on Sosphus’ chest. He could hear Sosphus’ calm heartbeat. Listening to that sound made him feel a little calmer.
Sosphus stroked Eoleare’s back. Eoleare received Sosphus’ touch obediently like a kitten. Then, when Sosphus’ hand stroked Eoleare’s narrow waist, Eoleare flinched slightly.
“Nngh…”
Sosphus chuckled at Eoleare’s reaction.
“You have a good reaction even in this situation.”
“How can I not react to that?”
Despite grumbling, Eoleare didn’t push Sosphus away. Sosphus’ touch on Eoleare’s waist gradually became bolder, and he started touching Eoleare’s b*ttocks. Eoleare hugged Sosphus tightly and pressed his body against him. He breathed small gasps and moans and rubbed his erection against Sosphus’ thigh.
They had been having s*x almost every day, but last night, they went to bed early without doing anything because they had to set sail early today. That’s probably why, even though he wasn’t feeling well, Eoleare felt a strong excitement.
“You seem to be horny, Eoleare.”
Sosphus whispered, and Eoleare retorted angrily.
“You’re the one fondling my butt.”
“Should we stop?”
Eoleare shook his head.
“No, keep touching me…”
