When a Well-Raised Son Grows Up - Chapter 33
Chapter 33
Abella nodded quickly. Her voice was filled with compassion as she whispered to Carlisle.
“I will. Don’t worry, sweetheart.”
“Are you sure? Do you promise?”
“Yes, I promise.”
Carlisle’s breathing calmed down after a few shaky breaths. Abella breathed a sigh of relief. She gently smoothed Carlisle’s sweaty hair.
“I apologize. I scared you.”
“No need to apologize,” Carlisle replied.
Carlisle reflected on the embrace and thought, ‘At least they addressed the immediate threat.’
“We have no idea when she will return. The best course of action for now was to take out the humans, along with Redden and that villain.”
Carlisle’s eyes narrowed as Abella held him tightly. He was trembling, and she couldn’t tell what he was thinking.
‘My mother would be very sad if I killed him.’
However, the situation was more complex than just Redden.
‘I will continue to stay with Abella and monitor Esha closely.’

Carlisle’s concerns were short-lived, unfortunate, or fortunate.
As Abella drifted off to sleep, Carlisle sensed the presence of a woman near their house. The woman was human and had a physique similar to Abella.
He identified her as Esha using his heightened animal senses. He rose from his seat and glanced at Abella, listening intently to make sure she was still asleep, then carefully rose to his feet.
Carlisle knew Esha was looking for him, despite the late hour. He grunted in acknowledgment.
He didn’t bother to hide his irritated red eyes as he stomped over to her while she was standing there.
“Hey……!”
Carlisle appeared suddenly in front of her, causing her to gasp in surprise. She suppressed her reaction, held her breath, and looked at Carlisle.
Their eyes met, and they both showed animosity.
She asked, “Who are you?”
Esha’s voice trembled as she spoke.
Carlisle chuckled and replied, “You wouldn’t have come all this way if you didn’t already know who I am.”
He then warned her, “Stay away from Abella.”
Esha protested, “That’s not a good idea.
Carlisle responded sarcastically. His irritation was evident despite his casual tone, likely due to his close friendship with Abella.
“Leo told me all about you!”
“And yet you’re not afraid of me?”
Esha tensed momentarily. She then braced herself
and replied, “Are you going to do something to me?”
Carlisle raised an eyebrow at the challenge. The brisk wind of dawn cut sharply between the two of them.
“How would Abella react if I, her only friend, disappeared?”
Carlisle sensed Esha’s fear as her voice cracked and her eyes trembled. She seemed unsure of her words, relying on shallow reasoning and its conclusions.
“Unfortunately, the risk was successful.”
Carlisle smiled, hiding his anger. He didn’t want to admit that he had lost the mental game so quickly.
“Do you believe that I will simply bite you and that bastard’s head off and then leave with my mother?”
“What?”
“Or maybe I’ll lock her away in a place where there’s no sign of human life.”
“Don’t even bring up that monstrosity of a mother,” she said.
Carlisle shrugged nonchalantly, as if to say, “What’s wrong?”
When he heard, “You’re not even Abella’s real family,” his previously calm expression turned into an ugly grimace.
He emitted a low, animalistic growl, and his eyes flashed with intensity.
Carlisle felt a strong desire to grab her by the scruff of the neck if it weren’t for the fact that Abella’s only friend was mocking him. Abella was more real to Carlisle than even the flesh and blood of his own family.
“And why do you believe everything that scoundrel says?”
Carlisle asked sarcastically, unable to hide his anger. In response to the anger in his voice, Esha’s expression changed slightly.
Sensing her hesitation, Carlisle went on, “What if he’s been lying to you this whole time?”
Esha clenched her fists tightly at the probing question. She said it with conviction, in contrast to the uncertainty of her earlier gambles.
“I know Leo.”
Carlisle mocked, “On the matter of a mere mortal?”
He acknowledged her familiarity with his species and other aspects of his life, but he found it hard to believe her assurance about Leo.
“Leo couldn’t have done that,” Esha protested as Carlisle muttered to himself.
“To trust a man who betrayed his kind, his flesh and blood, is more believable than a hare hunting a wolf.”
“Leo couldn’t have done that.”
“Don’t tell me you know what you’re talking about.”
Carlisle bared his teeth in response to Esha’s remark, but it allowed him to grab one of Esha’s hands.
“Do not talk badly about me to my mother, or the person you love will die the same day.”
After recognizing his target, Carlisle revealed his red eyes and whispered threateningly. His sharp fangs sparkled in the moonlight, making him appear more fearsome than ever.
Carlisle’s mouth curled into a smile, which was a contrast to the gentle smile he usually wore in Abella’s presence. He then left Esha, now speechless and trembling, and turned away.
He hoped that his words would shut her up for a while. Carlisle walked away in irritation, thinking that getting involved
with one’s kind never leads to anything good.

Abella continued to sleep peacefully as Carlisle returned to the bedroom, rolling his eyes with satisfaction and smiling.
‘Mother.’
He called out to her to confirm. When he received no answer, he waited for a moment before deftly climbing on top of her.
He took off his shirt and pants, then crawled under the covers with an innocent look on his face.
His tightly muscled body lay expertly on top of hers.
The next thing she knew, she was waking up from a dream.
Carlisle buried his face in the nape of her neck and breathed deeply, savoring her scent.
His ears perked up in excitement, and his tail wagged pleasantly.
‘Smells like mommy’s flesh…’
The bridge of Carlisle’s nose twitched. To him, it was the most comforting and reassuring scent in the world.
*-Abella is not his real family.
Then Esha’s words echoed in his head.
‘Does it matter if my biological family is not related to me by blood? Were the people who bullied and ostracized me because of my disability truly my ‘real family’?No. My only family is my mom.’
Carlisle bit his lip and hugged her tighter.
‘My mom is my real family.’
‘My one and only family are my mom and my beloved. She’s my world, and she gave me a new life. gave me a new life. What’s the big deal about blood?’Carlisle thought to himself as he embraced Abella like a child.
‘All I need is my mommy.’ As he pondered this, a thought crossed his mind.
‘Yeah, why don’t you carry my child so we can be a real family?’
Carlisle looked up at the sleeping Abella. His red eyes twinkled strangely in the dark room. ‘Ah, I wanted to do it first, when she was awake.’
‘I want to be a real family with my mom, but I can’t help wondering what I would call her if she gave birth to my child. I’ve only just started calling her mother…’
Carlisle considered the situation, regretting his decision. His tail wagged rapidly from side to side, as if he were enjoying himself. As he wagged his bushy tail around the bed, his cheeks flushed like an adolescent boy’s.
“That is when I have a child with my mother.”
Carlisle said in a small voice, swallowing dryly.
“I will call him Abel.”
