Misplaced Relationship - 133 - Epilogue
133 – Epilogue
Fang Tang became pregnant in the spring of the following year. Besides being sleepy, she also became a bit emotional. Her mother moved in to take care of her and cooked special meals for her. However, she sometimes spoke harshly, which made Fang Tang cry.
After finishing a research project, Lu Yan took a leave of absence to accompany her. He used to come home once a week, but now he only went to the research center once a week. When his assistant came to deliver some documents, as he entered the foyer, he noticed that the entire living room, including the floor, was covered with thick woolen rugs. Every nook and cranny was wrapped in a layer of plush, and the decorative vases and fragile objects had been moved and replaced with dried, grass-like artificial flowers.
Dr. Lu, who used to be cold and aloof, was wearing an apron and standing in the kitchen. A cute woman was sitting at the dining table, looking at him.
“…..”
After delivering the documents, the assistant felt like he had just seen a ghost. Lu Yan was truly cold and indifferent at the research center. When he didn’t speak, he had a serious expression on his face, and when he pursed his lips, an aura of indifference and coldness emanated from him. As a result, hardly anyone dared to joke or make small talk with him. No one had ever seen him smile.
But just now, when he saw Dr. Lu, he was smiling from start to finish. Although it wasn’t an obvious smile, his eyes and the sound of his voice were exceptionally gentle.
He seemed like a completely different person from the Dr. Lu he remembered.
For the past few days, Fang Tang had been upset with her mother, and her mother hadn’t dared to come over. Usually, she would either leave the food at the door or Lu Yan would cook. His cooking skills were average, but he could make a decent soup.
However, Fang Tang had a small appetite, and a bowl of soup was enough to fill her up. After eating with her, Lu Yan would accompany her to the couch to watch a movie. Then he would hold her hand and take her for a walk. When they returned, Fang Tang would feel sleepy and he would hold her in his arms while she slept and he read a book.
When she woke up, he had just finished reading the book.
“Are you still upset with your mother?” He lowered his head and kissed her nose, his deep, soft voice sounding particularly pleasant in her ears.
Fang Tang pouted, feeling a little unhappy, and her eyes suddenly turned red. “She keeps telling me to eat this and that for the sake of the child… She only cares about the baby and never thinks about me. I don’t even like eating those things…”
“If you don’t like it, we won’t eat it.” Lu Yan stroked her hair reassuringly. “We’ll eat whatever you want from now on.”
“She won’t let me eat it. She says it’s not good for the baby.” Fang Tang said as tears welled up in her eyes. “I haven’t had ice cream for two months. I can’t eat sweets, I can’t eat barbecue, I can’t even drink cola…”
“I’m sorry.” Lu Yan kissed her face and licked the tears from the corners of her eyes. His voice was low. “It’s all my fault.”
Fang Tang felt even more aggrieved and choked up as she cried, “It’s your fault to begin with.”
“I’ll take you out to dinner tonight.” Lu Yan gently rubbed her back. “We’ll eat whatever you want.”
Fang Tang sobbed and said, “I don’t want to eat. It’s not good for the baby if I eat.”
Lu Yan felt extremely distressed. He held her face, which had become thinner, kissed her lips and said, “I’m sorry, wife.”
All the grievances in Fang Tang’s heart were instantly soothed. She nestled into Lu Yan’s arms, listened to his steady and powerful heartbeat, blinked her eyes, felt sleepy again, and fell asleep.
Tao Shishi was unable to marry at the planned age of 28. She married on New Year’s Day that year and then went on a honeymoon. When she returned from the trip, she discovered she was pregnant. She continued to work at the research institute, but avoided contact with high-radiation machines.
For the first time, Lu Yan didn’t mention anything about tumors and cancer in his email. He simply asked her to come home and spend time with Fang Tang.
Tao Shishi took her leave and came over, and Xia Moyang was worried about her, so he accompanied her.
Xu Ruoning, who was also pregnant, also came. She got pregnant earlier than Fang Tang and Tao Shishi. And her husband, whom Fang Tang and Tao Shishi had only met twice, was also there.
He had a very masculine face, with a goatee, and was dressed in a gentlemanly and elegant suit. When he spoke, his voice was neither hurried nor slow, which made people feel comfortable.
In the living room the three men were chatting, while in the bedroom the three pregnant women were lying on the bed chatting casually. They went from talking about men to children, from children to body shape, from body shape to skin care, and finally they couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
“Cousin, you are shameless!”
“Oh, Shishi, let me tell you, someone asked me in the middle of the night how to measure that thing, whether it’s with the hands or the mouth…”
“Ahahaha!” Fang Tang covered Xu Ruoning’s mouth, “Don’t say that! I know it’s measured with a ruler!”
“Hahaha!” Tao Shishi laughed so hard that she almost couldn’t catch her breath.
When the three men came in from outside, they saw the three women lying side by side on the bed, holding hands with smiles on their faces as they slept.
Their other hand instinctively protected their slightly protruding bellies.
That was where the new life carrying their bloodline was growing.
The three men looked at each other with smiles, each with a lingering expression and emotion in their eyes.
