- Chapter 2 - Part 1 - The Crispy Pastry (1/2)
Lin Yu had always held high expectations for the vampire race.
After all, as one of the most renowned fantasy creatures from the West, whether it was the mysterious and romantic young men from “Twilight” (emphasis on being handsome) or the elegant and bloodthirsty noblemen from “Night Vampires” (emphasis on being handsome), they had stirred her teenage heart, and she had seriously considered the possibility of falling in love with a vampire. But as it turned out, their interests weren’t in the same dimension.
Lin Yu thinking. Can’t help it if I’m not born as a two-dimensional paper person. Sorry.
“From today on, you belong to me!”
The young man blurted out a strange-sounding sentence, holding the humanoid placard in his arms even tighter. “You’re the only human in the shelter who knows about Kesuzi. As long as you love her, I can give you my heart.”
Wait a minute, that last line is definitely some inexplicable nonsense, especially considering how many Kesuzi fans there are. Even if you grind a heart into powder, there wouldn’t be enough to go around.
Lin Yu politely chuckled, “Thanks. I’m Lin Yu, by the way. What’s your name?”
Half-jokingly, she thought that he can’t possibly have the most cliché vampire name, “Dracula,” right?
“Just call me Dracula,” he paused and added with a disgruntled tone, “Actually, ‘Dracula’ is pretty much equivalent to the name ‘Er Gou’ (Second Dog) in the vampire community. So besides that, you can call me ‘Er Gou,’ ‘Gulala,’ or ‘Kesuzi’s Dog,’ it’s all good”
So straightforward and honest!
Those last two nicknames definitely had something weird mixed into them! Calling him “Gulala” wouldn’t attract some strange occult phenomenon, would it? Vampires are so dismissive of their dignity, I misjudged you!
—Wait, no.
Maybe Ling Xi was right. This guy didn’t belong to vampires at all. He was a true “obsessed otaku plasma enthusiast,” and the two were entirely different species.
With that in mind, it seems easier to accept the situation.
Lin Yu decided not to dwell on this matter any longer and took out a small paper bag from her bag. “Mr. Dracula, I made some desserts. Here, have them.”
In response to the words, De·ErGou·Gu·NaLa smoothly took over, extending both hands and leaning the upright sign in his arms against his right arm.
As the placard touched his body, the young man half-closed his eyes, a faint smile forming on his lips that could only be described as… Well, let’s just say it would make people think of something rated 18+ no matter how it’s described.
Lin Yu is speechless.
Ling Xi expressionlessly plucked out his own pair of eyes, carefully wiping them with tissues from his pocket.
“Shocking.”
A real leather puppet self-harming online. Is it a loss of humanity or a distortion of morality? Stay tuned for “Today’s Verdict: The Guilt Beneath the Placard.”
Dracula’s expression, akin to ecstasy, finally reached its climax after taking a bite of the first cream puff. His slightly squinted eyes widened instantly, his trembling lips were covered in cocoa powder, and he looked like he had black lips from some sort of toxic substance.
The crispy exterior, and the refreshing interior. Upon being bitten, it released a chilly black sugar aroma. The completely different textures of the pastry and cream intertwined harmoniously, creating a wonderful sensation that danced rhythmically between his lips and teeth.
“So delicious.”
These two words seemed inadequate to convey his emotions. Dracula took a deep breath, swallowed the remaining pastry all at once, wolfing it down eagerly for a while. Then, his eyes sparkling, he looked up and said, “Super-duper-ultra-cosmic-explosion-level delicious! It’s the best thing I’ve eaten in nearly fifty years! I really wish Kesuzi could taste it too!”
Since he mentioned his beloved Kesuzi, he must really be fond of her.
Lin Yu couldn’t help but look at him with sympathy. “Forgive me for prying, but how have you spent these fifty years?”
“Having experienced hardships and facing hunger and cold,” the esteemed Dracula with tearful eyes like a poached egg spoke, “Ever since the heretical trial in my homeland of England, I followed the tides and sought refuge in the East. No money, no property, no food—what can a vampire do? Vampires are also helpless. I could only become a humble ‘Beijing drifter’ for the time being. I’m grateful that the Qichuan Containment Facility has taken me in, and this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the country’s policies and the local government.”
Get a grip! You’re a vampire from England, not a high school student answering a political question! What have you been through these years, Mr. Dracula?
It’s really sad.
Lin Yu sighed inwardly, then handed a piece of pastry to both him and Ling Xi.
“Don’t judge a book by its cover,” Ling Xi sneered, “A homebody like him changes wives every three months. It won’t be long before he becomes infatuated with another new character.”
That’s true.
Lin Yu, also a fervent anime fan who agreed with this statement, shifted her attention away from Dracula. “Apart from you two, who else lives in the living area?”
Ling Xi pondered for a moment, his elegant eyebrows furrowing, “The pervert, the love-struck brain, and the childish brat… Ah, he’s here.”
This is indeed a supernatural creature containment facility, not a mental hospital, right?
Wait a minute.
“Who’s here?”
Those two words struck her heart like a hammer, and before Lin Yu could catch her breath, she heard a clear and melodious teenage voice, “Is it the new employee sister?”
The voice was sweet like a clear spring, laced with threads of laughter, resonating in her ears.
Lin Yu turned her head in response and locked eyes with a pair of pure azure eyes without any impurities.
