Chapter 69 Part 1: Suspicions
Pyo Yeon-won barely managed to squeeze himself through the window of the supply warehouse.
It was much harder to get in than it was to get out.
Fortunately, no one seemed to have noticed his long absence.
There was a gloomy silence looming beyond the door.
He hesitated for a moment, wondering if he should just open the door and slip in there and no one would even notice the difference.
‘Now that I know the voices in my head weren’t just my hallucinations, and that, the Hunter who claimed to be Park Young-Chan, who’s leading the public opinion in there… Had already been eaten, and was only an empty shell… I don’t know what to do.’
But he wasn’t willing to abandon them all and leave them to deal with it alone.
However, even if he told them the truth, it was highly unlikely that the others, who were already blinded by the halo of the Hunter, would believe him.
‘How the hell am I going to…’
A scream suddenly came out from beyond the door.
“I’m not! I’m not fake! P—Please believe me… I’m innocent! I’m a real person!”
“What are you doing, gag him. Don’t fall for that shit.”
“It’s true! I’m a Real person! So please don’t… Ugh, ugh, ugh, ugh!”
There was a gruesome sound of beating.
He then heard a sob, between a couple of blows.
Pyo Yeon-Won stood rigid with his hand on the doorknob.
‘What is this… What’s going on?”
He was too shocked to think straight.
That’s because the voice of the man screaming that he was innocent sounded very familiar.
It was the second-year senior who had played a big role in calming the new students down right after the gates first opened.
His voice became increasingly hoarse.
A creepy sensation ran up his spine like cold water.
The monster wearing Park Young-chan’s face suddenly said,
“There’s a rat around here too.”
The door to the supply warehouse was suddenly flung open, and he made eye contact with Park Young-Chan.
Pyo Yeon-won stared up at him, with his complexion turning a sickly blue.
And as if the monster suddenly spotted a tasty prey, he lightly smacked his lips and smiled nonchalantly.
“Why are you out here?”
“What? Oh, it’s because… I was standing here last night and fell asleep.”
“That’s a lame excuse.”
“You’re clearly a monster.”
He was suddenly under suspicion.
“What reason do you have to come out of here? Ohh what if it was a monster that dragged a student in, ate it, and came out alone? This is really…”
“Wait a minute! You can’t just accuse a person of being a monster based on such speculation!”
Pyo Yeon-Won protested strongly, but it didn’t change the situation.
Public opinion was already tilted, and no one was willing to stand up for himself in fear.
When Pyo Yeon-Won made eye contact with everyone, they were busy looking away from him.
“Then what? Isn’t there any other way to catch the monster? If we do something based on our suspicions, we’ll be able to live. Are you sure we should just stand around waiting to be eaten by the monster?”
“I’m more suspicious of you accusing others of being a monster.”
Isn’t that the rule of mystery games?
The person who usually leads everyone around is always the most suspicious.
But Park Young-Chan simply smiled, while the corners of his lips curled up slightly.
He was acting like he had seen a rat scrambling in a trap.
“If I were a monster, I’d tell everyone to keep quiet and wait for rescue, because that’s a much better environment for a monster to eat them.”
Oops, by the time he said those words, he knew that it was too late.
“… Like what you just said.”
Park Young-chan’s eyes suddenly flashed.
Pyo Yeon-won could instinctively tell… That something is going to go terribly wrong.
The third floor of the fourth building.
That’s what Kang Woo-Jung told me.
I was able to arrive earlier than I thought because I was moving in a rush.
The monsters I encountered on the way here were almost killed right away with a one-shot kill, so I practically ran nonstop.
“Hey…! Hah, Hah… Ah, I’m dying!”
Jo Yeon-Ho acted like he was half-dead, but it didn’t matter because he wasn’t actually dying.
But our leeway was short-lived.
“Stop! I’m really not..!”
We heard an unusual sound, and a familiar situation.
Something similar had happened in the place we’d been before, but with one difference.
‘This voice… Pyo Yeon-Won?’
This time It was a familiar voice.
I burst open the door roughly and entered with my gun drawn.
There was a chilling silence inside after my shout.
Since I entered the gate as a member of the Netherworld, my combat uniform now had a Netherworld crest engraved on it.
Someone soon recognized it.
“Netherworld! It’s the Netherworld Guild!”
“A hunter has come to rescue us…!”
But their voices didn’t reach me.
My attention was focused on the one person rolling on the ground, who was surrounded by people.
It was a mangled up Pyo Yeon-Won.
“Ah… Seoha-Noona…? How did you get here…”
After they heard me calling out to Yeon-Won, the people surrounding him slowly backed away.
“This is terrible, damn it!”
Jo Yeon-ho also let out a small curse.
We were grateful to find him alive, but it wasn’t a sight that we wanted to see.
“No… You’re Noona… Right?”
“Before you went to the freshmen membership training, we even made you breakfast. Do you know what it was?”
“You made me toast, and you put apple jam on it, Right?”
“Yeah. We ate it together. That’s right, Yeon-Won.”
He seemed a little relieved after I told him about a memory from a few days ago that no one else would know.
Jo Yeon-ho listened from the sidelines, and then Pyo Yeon-won turned to him and asked.
“Yeonho-Hyung… What about my sister? Where is my older Sister?”
