To My Husband's Mistress - Chapter 1 Part 1
CHAPTER 1
“Let’s get a divorce.”
“What?”
Leticia doubted her ears.
Her husband’s words were too pathetic for their wedding anniversary.
“That is a really unfunny joke.”
She calmly brushed it off, but her voice trembled slightly. Why is it that her ominous premonitions are always right?
“I’ve found someone I love. Truly.”
It was enough to drive her crazy because it sounded sincere.
It was clear that her husband had contracted an incurable disease. It was the ‘fatal disease of love’ that said that those who commit adultery will eventually get caught.
“She is not a woman who is calculating. Leticia, she is different.”
She didn’t expect a grand gift for their wedding anniversary. She just hoped that Aster wouldn’t act like a jerk for a day.
However, Leticia’s simple hope was ultimately shattered. Her husband shamelessly scattered the shit of his two-year-long affair that had been kept hidden.
On top of the table, carefully prepared by her with hopes of restoring their relationship, was their wedding anniversary dinner.
“…You want a divorce? How could you?”
Leticia had the right to ask such a question.
As a wife, she was devoted to him and loved him to the point of being foolish. She was so foolish that she even put her in-laws’ property into his business to help him.
“Are you going to bring up your parents again?”
The man, who had taken advantage of his wife’s kindness, looked bored.
“I’ve paid off all my debts, Leticia.”
“It’s not a debt, it’s a favor. And you paid it off? What did you do?”
“Don’t pretend like you don’t understand. I returned all the investment money your family gave me!! I just went over the deadline a bit.”
The problem was that he went over the deadline for paying off the debt.
Aster Winchester was always like this. He minimized his own mistakes and exaggerated Leticia’s.
“Are you kidding me? Your failure to pay the money on time caused my family to go bankrupt!!”
Leticia was so angry that she was about to lose her mind. The only reason her father lent him the money was because of her.
It was purely because Aster was his daughter’s husband.
He was a very affectionate father who cherished his daughter. However, Count Violet went bankrupt because Aster couldn’t repay the investment money he borrowed.
In the noble society, it didn’t matter if you didn’t have money, but if you lost your honor, it was all over.
Her father, Graham, couldn’t bear it and took his own life.
“My father made an extreme choice, and you’re talking about divorce…!!”
Leticia’s voice, mixed with sobs, echoed with the memories of the cold burial of her family. However, Aster didn’t even bat an eye like a heartless bastard.
“Calm down and talk, will you? Do you want the maids to see you angry? You won’t be treated as a good hostess if you act emotionally like that.”
The maids who had come from the city seemed to glance over here at his words. They looked uneasy and curious as her voice kept getting louder.
Leticia didn’t care how they saw her. But she couldn’t stand the way her husband looked at her with contempt in his eyes.
‘He’s probably comparing me to his secret mistress.’
As she thought of Rianca Snoweider, who was considered one of the top socialites, Leticia couldn’t help but ask herself.
“Tell me honestly. Are you planning to remarry with that woman?”
“I told you to stop.”
“Otherwise, why would you even consider divorce? Isn’t that right?”
“Don’t bring up irrelevant people.”
Aster’s expression turned icy when his secret mistress was mentioned. He tried to act rationally and change the subject.
“I don’t have time for this. Are we going to talk about alimony or what? I’ve already paid back the investment money I borrowed from your family…”
“Please stop talking about money!”
Leticia immediately stopped his shameless words. Aster Winchester had to be aware of what he had done.
“What’s the point of talking about alimony? It’s not like my father will come back to life because of it!”
To ask for a divorce from his wife, who had just lost her father, was unthinkable. How could someone do such a thing?
If she could, she wanted to expose his despicable nature piece by piece. But in that moment, a spark flashed before Leticia’s eyes.
“Damn it, you’re a woman who makes a person fed up with you.”
Aster brushed off his hand that slapped her as if he had touched something dirty and began to ramble while Leticia was left speechless in shock.
“You regret and regret and regret! It’s all in the past now! How long are you going to dwell on the past? It’s getting annoying!”
As expected of a handsome man who was also highly regarded in the empire, even when he was angry, Aster was terribly beautiful. With his noble white skin, dark black hair, winter-like silver-gray eyes, and the only red and charming lips.
Everything she had once loved had become a terrible thorn that stabbed her heart.
“Your late father would be disgusted if he saw you like this, Leticia. Such a side of you makes me sick!! It’s because you’re like this that I… Damn it, enough with this.”
He had no right to speak, having succeeded with the money that was the price of her father’s life. He even had the perfect nuance of subtly blaming Leticia for his infidelity.
A perfect bastard.
“Now that I think about it, I couldn’t breathe when I was married to you.”
He didn’t say that before. At least not until he needed money.
“I felt like I was being chased by debt collectors every day. It made me furious to see your sad face. I felt like I had become a one-of-a-kind bastard in the world.”
Aster’s face, with his gritted teeth, was filled with self-pity.
“So please divorce me. I’ll give you a fair amount of alimony.”
Of course he would. He had achieved great success with the money he had taken from his wife’s family.
“I want to be happy too. I want to have a normal family like everyone else, marry the woman I love, and then…”
Aster, who was babbling as his heart desired, paused for a moment.
“And?”
Leticia asked in a faint voice. She knew that the answer from Aster would hurt her even more, but she couldn’t bear it without asking.
She was already out of her mind.
“I want to have a child… a child who looks like me.”
Aster finally spoke as if he had been waiting for it. It was an attack that aimed directly at her heart.
Because Leticia Violet…
“You can’t have a child.”
