This House Has A Delicious Restaurant - Side Story 2: Khan’s Daily Life
Side Story 2: Khan’s Daily Life
Khan had been rubbing his forehead since morning. The bed was covered with disheveled blankets, and the occupant who should have been there was nowhere to be seen.
“He usually can’t even be bothered to move….”
Khan, Zerdan, and Sidon now lived together in the same building. Since Zerdan rarely came home, that was to be expected.
But Sidon, who was usually frighteningly homebound, always lying around in the living room or bedroom, had recently stopped staying in his usual spot.
They say late spring breezes are frightening… It must be that he’s completely enchanted by that woman.
He heard before that his ability had been enhanced to adjust sensations. Could it be that Sidon’s senses are being adjusted separately? Making his heart race and creating the illusion of pleasure?
No, Sidon would be the type to ignore such heart reactions as bothersome.
‘What on earth did that woman say?’
Khan sighed and used his ability as usual. Shadows engulfed his body, and when his vision shifted, the familiar interior of the building appeared.
Standing at the entrance, Khan saw a woman sitting on the living room sofa. Her silver hair, now grown long enough to brush her shoulders, was visible.
When the green-eyed woman faced Khan, her gaze was as gentle as ever.
“Did you come?”
On the woman’s lap lay Sidon, now comfortably and habitually in his place, fast asleep.
Watching her gently stroke Sidon’s brown curls, it looked almost like a beloved pet being pampered by its owner.
It might be an offensive expression, but Sidon probably wouldn’t think it rude at all.
“…So he’s here again.”
“It seems he’s comfortable here with Diswen as well.”
Khan wanted to firmly say that wasn’t the case, but the woman speaking like that wasn’t so obtuse that she wouldn’t know why Sidon was coming.
She must just be saying that on purpose.
Khan sighed and sat down on the sofa across from them.
It was pitiful that he had naturally become Sidon’s guardian without anyone asking.
It didn’t matter if he ignored it, but perhaps because taking care of Ding had become a habit, it was hard to leave someone as high-maintenance as Sidon alone.
Sidon, meanwhile, clearly found Khan’s attentiveness bothersome.
“Is that kid sleeping again without eating?”
“We planned to eat together later. Since it’s a promise, he will eat.”
He had to nag for Sidon to eat anything at all. Sidon would only eat slowly with a reluctant expression when Khan, not even his own sister Diswen, lectured him.
Diswen looked at Khan with admiration for his patience, but did the woman with the brainwashing ability know? That with just a casual comment from Moa Ablon, Sidon followed along without much resistance.
He was curious about how she managed to coax such a bothersome person.
It didn’t seem like they had mutual feelings for each other… If anything, that woman seemed to have feelings for the leader.
Khan stared intently at Moa Ablon. He knew she was a unique and capable woman, though she was strange.
Still, he hadn’t forgotten the comfort she gave him when Ding was so abruptly taken away. To be honest, Khan’s attitude towards her had become more favorable since that situation.
Unlike Ding, she wasn’t a high-maintenance person. She was a capable and mature woman who handled everything on her own.
It was puzzling why he felt a strange similarity between her and Ding. Maybe it was because there were no other women around, making everyone seem similar.
Khan crossed his arms and leaned back. Moa Ablon’s gaze turned towards him.
“Khan, if you’re tired, you can come over here too.”
Moa Ablon’s delicate, pale fingers pointed to the side of Sidon’s lap that wasn’t occupied.
Was she suggesting lying down like Sidon at his age?
Khan looked at her, bewildered, but it seemed Moa Ablon was serious.
She stared at him for a moment before curling her lips into a smile, laughing quietly so as not to wake Sidon, and said it was just a joke.
She was such a strange woman. Despite having had her life threatened by him, she wasn’t afraid and even joked about it.
He still felt uneasy and fearful about women with brainwashing or amplification abilities.
Come to think of it, she had once said something like she also wanted to be someone important to him someday. Of course, she doesn’t mean it romantically, so he shouldn’t misunderstand.
Wanting to be someone important.
At the time, he had dismissed it as a ridiculous notion and ignored it, thinking she was someone he would never see again. He never expected that relationships would continue in such a manner.
He never thought a day would come when they would comfortably sit facing each other and talk like this.
…Given the unexpected events, perhaps a day will come when her words might come true.
But even if that day did come, Khan thought, it wouldn’t be her becoming someone important to him, but rather him becoming someone important to her.
Of course, if that makes sense, he wasn’t sure.
He glanced at Moa Ablon as she brushed her hair behind her ear and then shifted his gaze toward the window.
It would be a while before Khan learns that Moa Ablon was actually Ding from the past.v
