The Villainess' Fate Defying Story - Chapter 10
The Academy has weekends off.
The flow of time is almost the same as in the previous world, except that each month has thirty days, and the calendar and seasons are similar.
But if you think of rotation on a universal scale, what logic does this world follow? Let’s not think about the details.
This world is totally geocentric.
The plain goes on forever, and beyond the horizon is a dead end where the sea water falls like a waterfall.
Such a theory is common sense, and whether the sky moves or the earth moves, in reality the ground they walk on is a plank supported by an unusually large pole, which should have no effect on Cassandra’s life.
On weekends, students are free to do whatever they want.
Whether it be studying, spending time with friends, resting at home to regain their strength, or going out for a walk in the city.
On Sunday, Cassandra has invited an acquaintance, a young lady, to her villa for a modest tea party.
She has no intention of acting as a faction leader, but as a member of the student council, she has a duty to keep student life running smoothly.
Interacting with them is an important way to gather information.
It goes without saying, but Cassandra is human.
She only has one pair of eyes, so she cannot see what is happening outside of her immediate surroundings.
It is important to check for any trouble her classmates may have gotten into or caused.
Immediately, Viscount Cardo’s daughter, Daisy, told her an incredible story.
While pretending to be calm and smiling, Cassandra imagined grabbing Jake by the collar and throwing him over her shoulder.
During her first week of enrollment, Cassandra found several points to reflect on, mainly the first event with the protagonists and the three sons of the top three families, Ralph, Jake, and Sirius.
It was the so-called “Meeting” event.
Due to Cassandra’s presence, Rina’s first impression of Ralph was the worst, even though it was an unavoidable circumstance.
The combination of Ralph and Rina is the easiest to progress, and the necessary parameters are easy to develop.
The same goes for Jake and Rita, Sirius and Rize.
Above all, it is a path that will lead to the Saint Awakening event without fail, if the proper steps are taken.
She wished they could stick together with that combination without thinking about unnecessary things, but…
It’s really hard to recover from that first impression.
Even if she casually brought up Ralph’s topic with Rina, the topic would be blatantly changed.
This is not a good development.
Does the situation of her and the protagonist being together cause a bad chemical reaction?
Thinking so, she decided to go to the library not only with Rize, but also with the other two.
Even if the villainess herself is there, she hoped that with three people, the worst first impression could be avoided.
However, the result was that Sirius caused a “meeting” event with all three of them, and he missed the golden opportunity to make a good impression on all three of them.
Cassandra is very worried about failing at such an important first impression.
It still does not work.
After planning all night, she decides to subtly guide the three of them to act alone and prepare as many opportunities as possible for them to meet face-to-face with the targets.
Cassandra’s involvement causes some deviation in the scenario.
The combination of Rita and Jake is the last hope.
She had to make the “meeting” look good, no matter what! It doesn’t have to be good, it can be normal.
Just normal.
Cassandra had no choice but to leave it up to Jake.
She tried to behave in a way that would not affect the scenario as much as possible.
She wanted him to appeal to Rita as a good young man and deepen the bond between people with compatible personalities.
She sent him a cheer in her mind.
But still.
She was in shock, to the point where her soul almost went on a world tour after hearing Daisy’s story.
What in the world is this man doing? Why are they all ruining the first impressions of all three of them?
Well, not all encounters are good first impressions, because initial favorability is not always high.
Depending on the protagonist and the target, there are scenes where she tilts her head and says “I’m not sure about this one…”.
She recalls that this was especially evident when two people with inherently poor compatibility were matched.
But why did he do this in this unforgiving reality?
What was he thinking?
Cassandra’s flames of anger were directed at all three of them.
She thought she had done well to get through the tea party as if nothing had happened.
Cassandra was completely depressed and forced into a situation where she had to hold her head in her room.
Even though her academy life had just started, she felt as if there was a sign on her forehead that said “Take a Break” and she was stuck in the mud.
If she thinks about it calmly, maybe this situation is inevitable.
Of course, there is a kind of preference for the target, but there is also a kind of preference for the protagonist.
Cassandra also has a kind of preference.
Although her strike zone is wide, there are people with personalities that she doesn’t want to get involved with if at all possible.
Rina, Rita, and Rize are girls with strong personalities.
They don’t have to like someone just because they like them.
It’s presumptuous to try to change someone’s feelings or steer them in a certain direction.
She can’t be willing to manipulate others with half-hearted determination.
It was disgusting to expect the target to seduce and fall in love with the protagonist to her liking, it was almost disgusting.
They are not tools for salvation, they are just normal girls for now.
It’s unthinkable to imagine becoming a couple with a man she doesn’t even like.
For a moment, she wondered why she was even considering such a cruel thing.
But since there are three of them, at least one of them could have met someone and fallen in love in a good way.
That’s her honest opinion.
Disgusted with her own lingering feelings, she paced restlessly around the spacious room.
Although she is a beautiful girl with a splendid appearance, her behavior makes her look like a gorilla wandering aimlessly in a cage.
Cassandra couldn’t think of a good solution, but she remembered something she could do.
“Yes, the prince! The Prince is the key!”
With the current situation where the Saint’s plan is falling apart, she needs to know the Prince’s situation as soon as possible.
She has no way of knowing what’s going on with Arthur, the prince of the Clores Kingdom,
He’s a perfect prince who steals the eyes of all the female students at the academy with his perfect prince demeanor.
There is no other female student who can get close to him except herself.
But she is easily avoided and kept at a distance for a week, even though she wants to get to know him.
There were only a few scenes where they talked in the first week, and it was not a conversation that continued.
It was just a matter of reporting and greeting, and there was nothing different from any other ordinary student.
She wondered if he really hated her just because she was a villainess.
She was born to interfere with the protagonist in this world, so why was she hated after just a few conversations? Was it because of rumors or her appearance that she was shunned and avoided?
If that’s the case, it’s not fair.
She feels like there’s nothing she can do about it.
When she decided to find out about the prince, she never imagined that he would avoid her so much.
Even though they’ve barely met and she’s only seen him from afar, to be pushed away with a smile…it’s just unbelievable.
It’s like a curse.
She just wants to have a real conversation with him.
Even though she’s a villainess, no one but the targets have a twisted view of her.
At least the protagonist doesn’t seem to hate her, and her classmates don’t seem to be afraid or openly hostile towards her.
So she wants to cling to the possibility that the prince hasn’t been affected by the filter.
“Sister, are you in your room?
There was a knock on the door, and Cassandra finally stopped.
Alek, her stepbrother, had come to visit her.
She took a few deep breaths to calm herself.
“Please come in.”
After a moment the door opened.
Alek has a striking face and she can’t wait to see what he will look like in five years.
He was adopted from a distant relative’s family to succeed her father.
Surprisingly, Alek, who should have received a stricter education than Cassandra, still hasn’t decided on his fiancee.
She hopes there won’t be any bloodshed in the fierce competition for him.
…But Alek is still young, so it’s okay.
It’s strange that Sirius, Jake and Ralph don’t have fiancees yet.
They may be moving behind the scenes, but there’s no information on who they might be or if they’ve even made contact with anyone.
Well, that’s not something that interests Cassandra, who already has a partner.
Families of great power are complicated in many ways.
It’s possible that the current situation of the three who are like this is based on the fact that they didn’t want the situation of the protagonist “stealing” them from their original fiancees when they got together and got married.
It’s a bit unfortunate for them if that’s the case.
It’s extremely reckless to start school without a fiancee.
You won’t be able to escape from the hunters, the young ladies who are looking for a husband.
They must be struggling.
“Excuse me.”
Alek enters the room with a blank piece of paper in his hand for some reason.
“this is?”
Cassandra gives him a puzzled look, and the silver-haired, blue-eyed boy gives a wry smile.
He’s still only as tall as Cassandra’s shoulder, but when he grows up, he’ll surely be a fine young man who will enchant everyone.
Alek, her proud stepbrother, looks good no matter what he does.
“I have to report sister’s status to the Marquis.
This is just memo paper.”
Did he really bring memo paper just to record Cassandra’s status for a week? He’s such a meticulous and serious boy.
Although it’s to fulfill his role as Cassandra’s watchdog, it must be a hassle.
“Please tell me how you spend your time at the academy.”
It’s an unexpected face-to-face interview.
The Marquis probably needs to know Cassandra’s current situation more than he needs to know her as a parent.
He wants to know if Cassandra is doing anything unnecessary at the academy, if her studies are going well, and if her relationship with those around her hasn’t changed.
It feels like she’s being treated like a pet with a collar around her neck, and Cassandra has no freedom.
Even when she seems to have freedom, it’s only a conditional, temporary freedom.
Cassandra tenses her nerves so that her brother Alek doesn’t notice.
Where should she report to? After all, Alek is the one who will be the intermediary between her and the Marquis.
She can’t say anything too awkward.
“That’s fine.
Will you give your report to Father?”
“Of course, with a letter.
It will take even a fast horse two days to get to Rendall.”
She talks about the academy’s entrance ceremony, the scholarship students, the lectures, the corresponding evaluations of the sons of the top three families, and the current state of the academy, as long as it doesn’t cause trouble and isn’t a lie.
Alek sits in front of the table and takes notes of Cassandra’s report.
Sometimes he asks her for more detailed information, and she worries that she might say something careless.
Will this interrogation-like exchange happen every week?
It may only be the first time, but she feels tired at the thought of having a slightly heavy event at the end of the week.
Alek is also a victim, even though he doesn’t want it.
The word “letter” is like a revelation, and it shocks Cassandra to her core.
If she writes a letter, will she be able to contact the prince?
The Prince is always surrounded by a large number of people.
One of the three close aides is always nearby, and it’s difficult for Cassandra to talk to him easily.
Maybe the prince doesn’t want to meet her because there are people around.
If she could eliminate the people around him, maybe the prince would talk to her.
It’s a pretty good idea for a random thought, and she’s excited about it.
She can’t just give him the letter as it is, so why not sneak it onto the prince’s desk in the student council room early in the morning.
If the prince reads it and ignores her and pretends she doesn’t exist…
No, she’ll think about it if it fails.
Cassandra will be waiting for him at the designated spot.
“Alek, thank you very much.
Thanks to you, I might be able to solve one of my problems.”
“Sister?”
Alek looks confused when Cassandra suddenly thanks him face to face.
He stops moving his pen and looks at her with a confused look.
Her good mood is clearly reflected in his beautiful blue eyes.
The prince stands out wherever he is.
If only she could talk to him alone…
She remembers the two-tiered fountain she saw as she passed through the medical office.
Behind it, there are large trees spaced evenly, and benches.
It should be less crowded after school, so she decides to go there.
