The Villainess Captured The Grand Duke - Chapter 66
Chapter 66
“I asked you within a very reasonable range!”
“I don’t know about that, but having desires is a good thing. It gives you a goal.”
Being called a desire somehow felt impure… Scheuer hesitated for a moment whether to agree or disagree. He quickly corrected his stance, as if his words were trivial.
“So, since I pretended to be the one you wanted, you should be able to sleep well on your own now.”
“Then you should have done it to the end!”
“You touched too much.”
“Is that bad?”
Scheuer pouted, and he pointed to her hands that were fidgeting. Touching doesn’t wear anything out, and I haven’t done anything strange.
With a face full of mischief, Scheuer murmured silently, and he said,
“You said you wanted to see me sleeping, so I did something great.”
“It’s amazing. You haven’t shown it anywhere else.”
She sprawled out as if pushing his position away. Scheuer’s calf rested on his outstretched leg. It might have been uncomfortable, but he didn’t show any signs. Instead, he clenched his fist and asked,
“Why do you like me?”
“I don’t know.”
Her answer didn’t come back to her, and she couldn’t resist it. She finally opened one eye, feigning perseverance. Raygrain looked at her with an indifferent face, as if waiting for an answer. She didn’t want to answer. At least, she thought he already knew the answer.
In response to a thoughtless statement, no answer came back. With a resolute face, Scheuer tried to hold back, but she couldn’t help it, so she opened one eye slyly.
Raygrain, as if waiting for an answer, looked at her with an indifferent face. She was unable to defeat him. Eventually, she turned her body around and lay down with her face half-buried in the pillow.
Raygrain was looking at her as if waiting for an answer. She didn’t want to answer. At least, she thought he already knew the answer.
However, his warm gaze pouring down on her face seemed to demand an answer. She couldn’t win against him. Finally, with her face half-buried in the pillow, Sheuer thought carefully and answered,
“At first… it’s because, well, I like black hair, and there were various reasons like having a decisive personality.”
And when she lost her family and became alone, he became a source of strength for her.
When she began to dislike herself to the point of torment, he didn’t give up on her. Swallowing the reasons she couldn’t speak, Scheuer smiled, her eyes narrowing, and said,
“But right now, I don’t know. I just like you because you’re the Duke.”
The string of sentences had been meaningless since her return from the North. How could a person be expressed in words? Just Raygrain Blen, that’s enough. That itself is good.
Even with Scheuer’s answer, Raygrain responded by simply pulling the blanket over her. There was one good thing about the ruined training ground. “The Duke doesn’t go out in the morning!”
Scheuer wandered around, eating the food she received yesterday. Raygrain, looking at documents, commented,
“They keep coming in endlessly.”
Most of the food was desserts, so he hadn’t recommended it, but perhaps he felt sorry for her eating alone, he accepted the chocolate she offered without looking and quickly replied,
“That’s enough. I just said that because it looked tempting.”
Although it couldn’t be helped, the fact that he had destroyed the training ground seemed to have increased his workload. Moreover, he casually called the caretaker as if he were a personal physician, causing even more trouble. The biggest problem was that the issue of the forged stone tablets had become a central issue.
Because of this, the involvement of the North became a fierce debate.
“Don’t touch it. How can you not intervene when you come and threaten with a sword?”
Fortunately, one positive point was that Silcaro handled the final punishment.
Being a knight of the royal family, if he had been harmed, there would have been a lot of problems. Fortunately, the damage was limited to five tablets and the training ground. Yet, due to the incident, Nettri Marquis didn’t let it
slide. If it weren’t for Raygrain, they would’ve still been alive, he claimed. Some of the nobles who received Scheuer’s flowers were struggling with the proposal. Most of them seemed reluctant to accept it.
In the quiet room, a knock echoed. Soon, the familiar voice of Jess could be heard.
“Your Excellency, I have arrived from the North.”
Surprised by the news she hadn’t heard, Scheuer looked alternately at the door and Raygrain.
“Who’s here?”
“It seems they need your escort, so I called out the guard and sent them,” Raygrain explained.
“Why can’t you just stick to the Duke’s side?”
“Not possible.”
He decisively rejected it, as if saying there was no value in considering it.
Soon, the door opened, and Jess entered first. Though he seemed to have rested a bit yesterday, he looked even more exhausted now. Following him was someone else.
“Naveed Morsan! I received orders from the North to report to you right away!”
It was a face she hadn’t seen in a while, and he greeted them with a respectful salute. However, Raygrain immediately questioned,
“I don’t remember asking for Naveed.”
“Oh, we got into a fight over who should go, and I won in a fair fight, so I came!”
Proudly declaring victory, his voice resonated with pride. It was a welcome sound after the silence.
Scheuer, applauding in welcome, asked,
“Wow, a fight! Did you duel with a sword?”
“No! I won with my fist!”
“Huh?”
“We decided with rock-paper-scissors.”
Oh…
Even as the applause gradually died down, Naveed beamed, his chest puffed up with pride. It seemed he brought additional things from the North. Behind him, a line of new bags followed.
“First, these are from Celly, who said she was worried about Lady Scheuer.”
From his arms, he took out a piece of paper and, with a grin, cleared his throat before imitating Celly’s speech with a somewhat ambiguous tone.
“His Excellency seems to have good eating habits, but Lady Blen tends to eat only what she wants. So, to balance things out, she sent a dietary list. Some recipes need to be delivered to the royal chef.”
At these words, everyone’s eyes turned to the snacks Scheuer held. She quickly denied,
“I ate it for the first time today. Seriously.”
But Naveed had more to share. Another piece of paper came out from his embrace.
“Next, Lord Leilda asked me to deliver this to His Excellency!”
This time, he bowed deeply. His audacious gaze somewhat resembled Leilda’s.
“Foolish people. Do you think it’s a honeymoon trip? It’s better to wrap it up and come back soon.”
Scheuer admired the perfectly replicated intonation and mannerisms. Naveed proudly handed a small pouch to Raygrain. From within, a piece of black gemstone emerged.
It was so small that its purpose wasn’t clear. Scheuer asked curiously,
“What’s this? A jewel?”
Seemingly serious, Naveed added to the mimicry,
“It’s an additional testimony. It seems they found magic stones in some of the corpses of the monsters in the North. Since they are still investigating, if you can expedite the return date from the Central, at least send His Excellency as soon as possible.”
Raygrain examined the magic stone briefly and placed it back into the pouch. He didn’t respond to Leilda’s letter but offered a different response.
“First, take charge of Scheuer’s protection for the time being. There are still matters to attend to in the Central, so immediate schedule changes won’t be easy.”
“Smile Love”
