The Villainess Captured The Grand Duke - Chapter 62
Chapter 62
“Monsters live in groups. While there are types with sharp claws, they haven’t developed intelligence enough to actively use those weapons.”
A calm statement with an unseen intimidation. He looked at the knight who had made the statement with clenched fists and added,
“I’ve lived in the North for my entire life, but I’ve never received reports or seen such a type.”
The knight, still sitting with bandages, retorted with a trembling voice,
“But it was undoubtedly a monster!”
“A knight who has never faced such a creature in real combat is claiming that it ran away.”
“Is that a problem?”
“It sounds like the North isn’t as easy to defend as it seems.”
A chill response made the knight bite his lips.
Scheuer subtly tugged at Raygrain’s sleeve. Forming a subjugation team would likely yield nothing. Even if someone insisted they had seen a monster, without evidence, it would be hard to dismiss it as anything other than a problem with the North. Erina, taking the lead, spoke up first,
“You’ll know when you go. If the damage is this small, wouldn’t there be traces of the monster’s footsteps?”
Go, and Erina wanted her to go immediately. Scheuer hoped she would leave right away. Fully armed, Erina checked her sword before stating,
“Things aren’t as clear-cut as the Duke thinks. There’s something not adding up.”
She sheathed her sword with a sharp, scraping sound.
“Maybe, during the Duke’s one-year absence, a different type of monster has appeared.”
She held the reins, saying,
“For now, whether such a monster exists or not is not the most important issue. My knights have returned with injuries. It’s necessary to check.”
Go!
With her commanding voice like the gathering of energy, the Royal Subjugation Team left the palace. The air in the audience chamber was tense. Scheuer, sitting quietly, crossed her legs, wiped the inside of her cheek with her tongue, and observed the situation with a wry expression. Finally, she casually added a few words,
“Injuries caused by monsters can’t be healed with sacred power.”
Despite her calm tone, the content was shocking. Silcaro’s eyes widened. No one knew about this fact. After all, there were rarely any visits from the temple to the North, and even if there were, there weren’t many who could receive treatment from him. In response to the suddenly attentive gazes, Scheuer casually turned her head around and said,
“Basically, monsters have the opposite properties to sacred power. It might be better for you to face them with magicians, huh?”
Simultaneously, the attention turned to the knight who claimed it was a monster.
He was sitting on top of the cloth, trembling with a pale face. Silcaro poked him with a face full of anger.
“Explain what happened!”
“That, that is…”
The anxious eyes of the knight swept through the smoke and passed the battlefield. He stood up abruptly, drew a sword from Silcaro’s waist, and rushed straight towards Scheuer, who was closest. The rustling sound characteristic of a drawn sword grazed the nape of her neck. The knight’s arms around her shoulders were shaking as if an earthquake had occurred.
He shouted with a moist voice,
“Move, I told you to move!”
All the swords of those present at the battlefield pointed towards her. More precisely, it was probably directed at the knight behind her. Sevi, seemingly surprised, stood up and pointed fingers towards this place, pulling Koa’s head.
“What is this! What is this!”
“It seems you’ve become a hostage.”
“You knew?!”
I agree.
When Scheuer flinched and moved, all the swords followed suit and adjusted their postures. Raygrain had already drawn his sword but did not aim it at anyone. The knight walking towards them with a drawn sword felt much more terrifying than those standing firm with their swords. As he approached, the knight gripping my shoulders felt increasingly tense. It even felt a bit sloppy, given the distance.
Scheuer blinked and looked around. The blade near her throat was chilling as she swallowed her saliva. In response, Sevi shouted,
“Don’t worry, I’ll treat you if you get hurt! He’s not a demon, you know?”
What comforting words!
The knight dragged her towards the outskirts of the battlefield. Silcaro shouted calmly, “Put down the sword, Teper.”
“I apologize, Your Excellency.”
“Teper, put it down and talk. Send someone to inform the Grand Visionary.”
He firmly embraced her, and in a moist voice, he confessed his sin.
“I… I forged the slab.”
Scheuer thought her ears were playing tricks on her for a moment. Raygrain came closer as if he would strike him down immediately. She nodded with her eyes towards Silcaro’s bouquet ribbon. It was a clue that could reveal the mastermind behind the demonic attack incident. Raygrain hesitated at her gesture, furrowing his brow. Well, even if she gets a little hurt, Sevi will treat her. She must be curious about the slab herself. Since he asked her to find it, she wouldn’t just take it. If she doesn’t tremble, it would be a lie. It’s scary. It’s scary, but it must be done. Raygrain raised his sword. He slowly raised his head.
Scheuer also followed his actions. ‘One, two…’
The moment she shouted “three,” Shuer swiftly struck between his legs with her fist. “Oof!” With the sound, the tension released, and she leaped straight towards Raygrain, who was in front of her. His large arms hastily caught her. Along with the sense of relief, Raygrain’s shoulders heaved heavily.
When Scheuer tried to look back, large hands wrapped around her head, pulling her into an embrace. Thud, the sound of a heavy object falling, “He’s dead!” When she turned her head, the knight who had been alive just a moment ago was now dead, slain by Silcaro’s sword. Sevi belatedly invoked sanctity, but the deceased had crossed a river that could not be crossed back.

The mark on the sword was unpleasant. Raygrain did not release her from his embrace. Due to the false information about the demon, the North had misunderstood, making it difficult for anyone to easily speak. Zelos, who arrived belatedly and grasped the situation, suggested dispersing from the battlefield and discussing the matter later when things calmed down.
The injured part was her neck, and for some reason, she couldn’t even take a step to her room. Scheuer, now changed into comfortable clothes, still standing in front of Ragrain, asked,
“Won’t you come in?”
Only then did he step forward, his towering figure causing her neck to crane. Without malice, she asked,
“Did you hear? About… Theo?”
“Teper.”
“Yes, him! Ah, if I knew this would happen, I should have hit him a bit harder!”
“Is that all you have to say?”
His gaze was still fixed on Scheuer’s neck. She casually pointed to her healed neck and said,
“It’ll heal soon. If not, I can ask Sevi for help.”
When she chuckled, his expression became even more stern. Ignoring it, Scheuer grabbed his clothes,
“Your Grace, my neck hurts.”
“Call the healer.”
As he turned to leave, Scheuer urgently held him back.
“Smile Love”
