The Villainess Captured The Grand Duke - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Scheuer knew about those who had left unexpectedly and never returned due to accidents. She quickly erased the brief glimpse of her parents as they passed by.
However, her unease couldn’t be dispelled, especially not now that he had lost his emotions. Scheuer strode through the seemingly immaculate office, which bore no traces of clutter that resembled him. What excuse could keep him from leaving? She approached Raygrain with determined steps.
Swiftly extending her slender index finger in front of his eyes, Scheuer opened her mouth with a rather determined look in her eyes. In a cheerful and melodious voice, as if delivering a speech, she began to explain her reasons.
“The first reason is that I haven’t received an answer to my proposal.”
Raygrain’s indifferent gaze merely observed her actions. He neither moved back nor showed the slightest sign of wavering in his posture, with his back straight. How could such a beautiful person remain unmoved when someone stood so close to them? His firmly closed lips were stubborn..
Scheuer moved a step closer.
Scheuer took another step closer, pressing her body against his. A faint blush appeared on her face, and her voice grew a shade brighter than before.
“The second reason is that it hasn’t even been 24 hours since I met Your Grace.”
“What does that have to do with me?”
“It does matter. I was just minding my own business when you hit me. Since you hit me, you should take responsibility. In that sense, would you like to draw a portrait together? I’ll behave myself. Below, you can write, ‘Be happy. A few kind words from His Grace would be even better.’ “
For a moment, the office fell silent. Not long after, Raygrain responded in a dry tone. It seemed like a habitual inquiry rather than genuine curiosity.
“Is that all?”
“Can I do more?”
Scheuer looked up at him and asked. Her gaze fell on Raygrain’s clean face and white shirt. There was something bothering her about his perfect appearance – two strands of hair clinging to his shoulder. Imperfection on someone so perfect was like a speck on a flawless gem. A single blot on a canvas was enough to irritate her nerves.
Scheuer gently removed the two strands of hair clinging to his shoulder. She felt reluctant to just let them fall to the floor, so she held onto them as if they were some sort of evidence. Raygrain seemed unfazed by this as if he had no sense of touch. He watched her actions with cold eyes.
“Your Grace, I mean…”
A gray-haired man standing nearby interrupted her with a sensitive tone.
“Your Highness, it seems to be quite an unusual preference. It would be advisable to dismiss her.”
His words were stern, and dark circles under his eyes were evident. From his somewhat frail appearance, one could deduce that he was Jez, the commander of the guards. While reading the original work, Scheuer had regarded him as a decent person, at least until she heard his words. After all, when Raygrain died, he was the only one who tirelessly searched the snowy plains to find his body, creating an inexplicable fondness. In contrast, Jez seemed to view Young Scheuer with a certain unease.
Scheuer stepped back from Raygrain and corrected Jez’s statement.
“Unusual. Could you call it love?”
Raygrain raised his hand, still silently staring at her.
Jess, who had been about to argue back, tightly sealed her lips. Though it was just a raised hand, even in that simple gesture, there was a sense of restraint. Raygrain’s indifferent pupils stared directly at her.
“How did you find your way here? I don’t recall giving you access to my office.”
“Oh, that was the knights outside my room who told me.”
“It seems there are those in Blenga who have forgotten their roles.”
He was ready to confront those who had so easily disregarded their principles. His subtle but sharp gaze conveyed as much.
He was ready to confront those who had violated the rules so easily. Even though it was subtle, his sharp gaze conveyed that message. Scheuer pushed his hair back into his sleeve and said,
“Well, they are not at fault. They left their posts to show off Your Highness’s glory and bring the sword you personally granted when you were away.”
Her stubborn demeanor and her voice, which closely resembled his rigid tone, corrected her words.
“The world calls that dereliction of duty.”
At that remark, she blocked her own mouth, inhaling a breath mixed with admiration.
“Could you please say that one more time?”
Raygrain’s eyelids twitched for a moment. It was a very subtle movement, but this time she saw it clearly. It was a fleeting moment.
If she hadn’t blinked as little as possible to capture him, she might have missed it. Witnessing his eyebrows twitch ever so slightly as if he were annoyed, was like a small victory for Scheuer. Her heart swelled. But that wasn’t all. Even the hushed tone of his voice was beyond her imagination. It couldn’t get any better than this. Yet, Jess seemed oblivious to his change in expression, glaring at Scheuer as if she could knock her down with her gaze alone.
Ignoring Scheuer, who had brightened her eyes, Raygrain slowly rose from his seat.
“Is that the reason why I shouldn’t take action in person?” he murmured.
Jess responded to his muttered words,
“Your Highness, it’s nonsense. Please just listen to the advice not to go on this punitive expedition.”
“I will go.”
Despite repeated objections, Raygrain remained resolute. Scheuer and Jess followed him out of the office. In a desperate attempt to detain Raygrain, Scheuer hurriedly asked,
“Could you at least tell me the decimals in the temperature?”
“Your Grace, the weather beyond the border is unfavorable.”
As their words overlapped and they glared at him, Jess also regarded Scheuer with a displeased look. When they exited the corridor, Raygrain momentarily paused.
As he turned around, he looked at Scheuer and asked,
“Did you say your name was Scheuer?”
When he called her name directly, she nodded so vigorously that it seemed her neck might snap. At the same time, there was no need to mention that Jess’s face, standing beside her, contorted without restraint.
Raygrain’s blue pupils pierced through her face as Scheuer met his gaze without blinking and tilted her head lightly. He, with his sharp gaze, didn’t shy away from her eyes either. At a glance, it seemed like they were having a staring contest. In reality, this situation itself was remarkable. Just the fact that he was in front of her made Scheuer feel elated.
Her closed lips gradually formed a joyful smile. She didn’t want to waste any time blinking her eyes, so she thoroughly observed his eyes, nose, mouth, and even his adam’s apple. How long had they been gazing at each other? The distance between them unconsciously closed. Just when Jess’s face seemed to lose its color due to this uncomfortable situation, Raygrain’s eyelids twitched ever so slightly.
After a very brief silence, he spoke up,
“I’ll grant you what you desire.”
Scheuer replied without hesitation as if she had been waiting,
“Then, the key and shoe size, too.”
Seemingly not needing to hear more requests pouring in all at once, Raygrain moved to leave the room. Scheuer blocked his path and said,
“But wait.”
Okay, a question! What title do you prefer after getting married?”
“Step aside.”
“Darling? Honey? Or maybe, Baby Kitty?” “
Is that really important?”
“Yes, it is. After all, affection starts with the name.”
Scheuer tried to come up with any excuse to keep him from leaving. She couldn’t bear such nicknames for someone with a magnificent name like
“Raygrain Blen.”
Scheuer tried to come up with any excuse to keep him from leaving. She couldn’t stand those nicknames for someone with such a great name as “Raygrain Blen.” It was something she couldn’t tolerate no matter what. But she needed to buy more time. Was there anything more suitable? She was determined to find a solution in her own way..
“Smile Love”
