The Villainess Captured The Grand Duke - Chapter 32
Chapter 32
Scheuer, smiling, asked again,
“What do you want to talk to me about?”
“People say Miss Scheuer is quick-witted. Is that true, or do you really not sense it?”
In response to Silcaro’s question, Scheuer bluntly revealed her understanding.
“It sounds like you have feelings for me.”
“If that’s how you felt, then you’re correct.”
And Silcaro didn’t deny it.
Madness. Scheuer was on the verge of uttering a curse, but she firmly held onto her composure. She pretended to be unperturbed and spoke with a calm voice.
“You came as a partner to Erina, and it hasn’t been long since your engagement. People say you two get along well.”
“She’s my best woman. Literally, we get along, but it’s not more than that.”
For now, it might be like that…
How much trouble will I face later for saying this?
Such thoughts were only fleeting.
‘This is not why I came to the central region!’
This situation wasn’t anticipated in the original work or her expectations. Scheuer wanted to leave immediately, but for now, she didn’t show it. She didn’t know his intentions.
She looked as if she were smiling calmly, but her lips were pressed together, showing the tension.
“I’m officially becoming the Duke’s wife tomorrow. The Queen has assigned us a residence.”
“I didn’t know you cared about those things. Miss Scheuer was famous, you know? Anyone related to Erina, regardless of age, gender, or marital status, was said to have been tempted.”
“Was that so?”
Scheuer casually rolled her eyes as if recalling a distant past.
With an innocent expression, Silcaro retorted,
“Didn’t Miss Scheuer make an offer back then? Even if I got engaged to Erina, let’s meet occasionally.”
Scheuer seriously contemplated whether she could hit him on the head with the champagne glass. It might lead to amnesia elsewhere. She needed to forget only Silcaro.
‘If this doesn’t work out, at least it won’t end with a duel. Think about the Duke. The Duke!’
She sighed deeply. Thinking of Raygrain, she found solace and managed to respond.
“It seems unrelated to me right now, Your Grace. I am sincere about the Duke.”
Upon this polite refusal, Silcaro wrinkled his nose as if displeased.
A moment ago, his appearance, which she found beautiful, now seemed quite ordinary. Did he need to hear more? Thinking so, she was about to turn away when Silcaro’s next question made her stop again.
“Duke, you know that lost emotions.”
“….”
“Then, how long do you think you can cover that limit?”
“Lifetime.”
Without hesitation, Scheuer gave a firm response, causing Silcaro to raise his head.
“I’ve felt emotions for about three years now. Even that might not be filled. Two and a half years? Even after getting married, many people get tired, but they continue living.”
Scheuer stared beyond the window as if searching for Raygrain, who was moving around the hall.
The tension in her grip, which had been stiff with nerves, seemed to relax subtly. Just looking at him made her feel better. Silcaro continued speaking even though her thoughts were elsewhere.
“While I admit that the Duke is strong in swordsmanship, things change when you can’t wield a sword. I heard Miss Scheuer has ambition, so this should be an answer. Do you know which side you should stand on?”
“Yes.”
“As expected. Communication is good.”
As Scheuer gazed at Raygrain, who was surrounded by knights in the distance, Silcaro continued.
Scheuer mumbled as if talking to herself while observing Raygrain from a distance,
“The Duke is incredibly tall. He stands out alone from a distance. You could find him anywhere.”
“What?”
“Have you seen the Duke frown? I did that. Isn’t that amazing?”
“What are you saying now?”
“And on top of that, I like black hair.”
As she spoke, Silcaro, who had been leisurely leaning on the terrace, stood up. His platinum hair swayed in the wind. Scheuer spoke firmly,
“I know which side I should stand on.”
Before she could hear anything else, she quickly grabbed the terrace door.
At that moment, when she was about to put force into it, thinking about warning Raygrain not to associate with such people…
A loud laugh came from behind.
“Haha, sorry. Miss Scheuer, sorry about that.”
He suddenly bowed deeply, with a big smile on his face.
“I thought you might have approached the Duke with different intentions because of the proposal you made before. Seems I misunderstood. I apologize.”
Scheuer glared at him with a frown of arrogance.
Silcaro calmly raised both hands, showing them as if in surrender.
“Considering the circumstances, let’s think of it as a verification process, shall we? I also value the Duke much like Miss Scheuer.”
At his words, she let out a belated sigh of relief. However, the memory of Scheuer’s proposal for a secret rendezvous with him echoed in her mind. In the original work, Scheuer’s role was not as significant. Only a few major misdeeds were mentioned, and the details were usually brushed aside as ‘another similar incident.’ The current proposal for a secret meeting was likely just another one of Scheuer’s numerous misdeeds.
She felt a sudden weariness after dealing with Silcaro. Right now, she yearned to see Raygrain. She wanted to see those cold eyes that would only look at her with interest if she made an effort to attract them.
Scheuer, feeling disgusted, politely accepted Silcaro’s apology. However, numerous thoughts about the sincerity of his words and the possibility of more incidents like this in the future flooded her mind. Scheuer apologized, claiming it was a misunderstanding.
Silcaro pressed further, noticing Scheuer’s displeasure.
“Your expression doesn’t seem like a mistake.”
“It’s an illusion.”
After dealing with Silcaro, a sudden fatigue overwhelmed Scheuer. She longed to see Raygrain immediately, with his indifferent eyes that she had to work hard to attract.
“Then, if there’s another chance, I will meet you again, Your Excellency.”
Without hesitation, Scheuer opened the door and rushed towards Raygrain. When she suddenly stood in front of him, the many knights surrounding him hesitated, maintaining a certain distance. This was the result of Scheuer’s influence as a Nettri Duke, shaped by her actions in the past.
However, she boldly approaches Raygrain, paying no attention to the stares around her. Opening the door, she extended her hand towards him and said,
“Duke, please buy me a wedding ring.”
Her abrupt demand caught everyone by surprise, and whispers of criticism quickly spread. Nevertheless, she paid no mind to the surrounding disapproval.
He asked Scheuer why she suddenly wanted a marriage ring.
“Is that really important?”
“It’s a big, attention-grabbing thing.”
“I am a swordsman. I can’t bear something so annoying.”
“Then instead of wearing a ring, how about putting my name on your back, Duke?”
Raygrain sighed, running his large hand roughly over his face. He asked,
“Can’t it be a signet ring?”
“That wouldn’t stand out.”
Eventually, yielding to her stubbornness, Raygrain nodded.
“I’ll find one.”
Upon his assurance, Scheuer responded with a bright smile. After getting a definite answer from Raygrain, she briskly walked past him.
As she passed, the knights crowded around, making way for her. Without paying them any attention, she confidently approached those who tried to avoid her. This time, with slightly quicker steps, she blocked their path.
Her sudden approach put everyone on edge.
“Smile Love”
