The Villainess Captured The Grand Duke - Chapter 151
Chapter 151
Raygrain gently tugged at the hand they were holding. It wasn’t a strong pull, but it was enough to make her turn her head naturally. As they walked forward, he matched her pace, his gaze fixed solely on Scheuer. Unlike her, his attention didn’t waver toward anything else.
The distance to the platform where Sevi stood wasn’t very long, but walking in silence made it feel unusually lengthy. Normally, she would have asked him for various things, taking in every detail, but today there were too many people watching them.
When they finally stood in front of Sevi, his lips curled slightly in a mischievous smile. Surely he’s not planning to ruin the wedding, right? Although he soon put on his usual serene expression, his mere presence was enough to make Scheuer uneasy.
Sevi smiled beautifully and said,
“I am honored to take on this role on such a historic day in the northern center, Blenga. The god Lapel will surely bestow blessings as well.”
It was a typical beginning. He raised one arm gracefully as he continued.
“The god Lapel protects this land with his power.”
Scheuer’s eyes trembled slightly. She had experienced this before—when he had solemnly proclaimed from the stone tablets. His composed and devout voice had drawn out the speech endlessly! She glanced sideways at Koa, who stood nearby, and saw that he was bowing his head with a sincere expression of apology. Surely he doesn’t mean to go on that long again, does he?
Sevi, who hated tedious tasks, had no reason to drag out this ceremony. Or so she thought. But as 10 minutes passed, then 20 minutes, a warm breeze began to blow. When the noonday sun hit Sevi’s silver hair, making it shine beautifully, Scheuer finally realized the truth—he was genuinely reveling in the chance to show off his beauty in front of everyone.
The content of his speech was also commendable. For someone who would serve the god Lapel for a lifetime, there could be no greater celebration.
As his words stretched on, Scheuer felt her legs gradually losing strength. There was quite a height difference between her and Raygrain, with her being a head shorter. However, when two people stood facing each other at a wedding, a significant height difference could be visually disappointing. Since she couldn’t reduce Raygrain’s height, she had to elevate herself.
Her feet began to ache in the unusually high heels. She discreetly shifted her feet hidden beneath her dress, alternating between lifting one foot to give it a brief rest. ‘Just hold on for a moment.’
At that moment, her shoe accidentally slipped off her foot. ‘No! ’ With a squeak, Raygrain firmly supported her as he held her hand. Concerned, he glanced at Scheuer to see what was happening. Determined not to ruin the wedding, Scheuer smiled brightly, maintaining her usual demeanor.
Raygrain, who had briefly parted and then closed the distance, met her gaze from just a hair’s breadth away. For a moment, the once loud noises of the garden seemed to fade, leaving only the two of them in focus.
Just as Sevi was about to announce the next part, a low voice mixed with breath reached them from below.
“Do you not like it?”
Scheuer found herself at a loss for words, her mind momentarily frozen as if overloaded. Yet a small whisper landed on her lips.
“If you don’t like it, push me away.”
Before a response could come, her words were swallowed by Raygrain’s mouth. With a deep breath, Scheuer grasped his arm with the hand she had been holding.
In a flustered state, Sevi called out,
“Didn’t you say that Blenga has no emotions? Oh, Lapel, our god! ”
Even Sevi’s words barely reached Scheuer’s ears. Raygrain, having seemingly found the moment amusing, wore a smile as if seeing it for the first time. The ambient noise, which had slowly dissipated, began to return to her ears. Instead, her face grew warm, and she felt a rush of heat.
Her heart raced as quickly as when she had first seen Raygrain. Scheuer rubbed her cheek with one hand, curious about what her face must look like. Raygrain, however, seemed intent on not missing a single moment of her reaction, not blinking even once.
Before she could ask if this was because of the wedding, Raygrain seized the opportunity and spoke.
“I did it because I wanted to. Didn’t I say if you don’t like it, you can push me away? ”
In a hurry, Scheuer glanced around at the guests. The mercenaries were creating a commotion, clapping and throwing their hats into the air. Lady Solle, looking embarrassed, had lowered her head, while Lady Betty watched with wide, interested eyes.
The only consolation was that the knights remained kneeling and bowed, as they had when she first took her oath. Sevi’s smile turned to a disapproving grimace, perhaps feeling overshadowed by Scheuer.
Quickly, Koah signaled the orchestra, and as the processional music began to play again, Sevi gave a reluctant nod for them to proceed. Scheuer, now flustered, scrambled to find her lost shoe, having momentarily forgotten about it due to the sudden kiss.
The song was already playing, and in her flustered state, she couldn’t bow her head or lift her dress to check. Raygrain’s gaze momentarily dropped down, revealing the tip of her nose peeking out from the hem of her dress.
Scheuer smiled sheepishly and wiggled her foot, but with a sudden movement, her shoe slid further away. Embarrassed, she chuckled awkwardly. The light tension made her smile a bit brighter.
“I was just trying to match my height with the Grand Duke.”
“Is height really that important? ”
“Well, not really. But it would be nice to look good standing next to the Grand Duke, especially since these will be my treasured memories for life.”
Raygrain picked her up effortlessly. With a bold expression, he looked straight ahead and said,
“This suits us better.”
“Toi et moi”
