The Villainess Captured The Grand Duke - Chapter 150
Chapter 150
Even after the visits from the merchant couple and the mercenary group, the place remained noisy for a while. The merchant couple, in particular, cried like they were sending off their own child, turning the atmosphere into a sea of tears. In the end, it was Scheuer who had to console them.
“Who keeps coming? There are people everywhere, from the garden to the mansion.”
With a grumpy remark, Leilda entered, holding a video magic stone to vividly document the wedding ceremony.
“There were so many people in front of the door that I almost couldn’t get in.”
He was wearing formal attire for the first time instead of his usual long robe. The long Koat suited an adult so well that he looked almost like a different person.
Scheuer casually asked,
“Lord Leilda, wouldn’t it be a bit strange if you came looking like a child again? ”
“Why? Are you going to say something weird again? ”
“I was just thinking about how kids usually sprinkle flowers during the ceremony.”
“Not happening.”
Since she hadn’t said it with high expectations, she closed her mouth without hesitation. He tossed the magic stone into the air and caught it repeatedly, glancing around the room casually.
As he openly showed his discomfort, the maids bowed politely to him in greeting. Scheuer glanced at him. Normally, he wasn’t the type to beat around the bush if he had something to say. On the other hand, he wasn’t diligent enough to come by just to offer congratulations on something he wasn’t interested in.
‘Does he have something to say?’
The fact that he knocked instead of suddenly teleporting in, as usual, was already out of the ordinary. Scheuer smiled and spoke to the maids.
“I’d like to have a conversation with Leilda for a moment.”
“Oh, yes! We’ll be waiting outside.”
The maids, who had been skillfully tending to the dress, quickly left the room like the ebbing tide. Only then did Leilda speak with satisfaction.
“Why are you always surrounded by people? Don’t you get tired of it?”
“Compared to the center, it wasn’t that many! By the way, have you seen the Grand Duke? ”
“Yeah. If you see him, you’ll die. It’s obvious from his outfit to his hair that you picked it all out.”
He was right. However, Scheuer had never seen his attire before. She found it hard to contain her restless body. Just stepping outside, he would be there.
Scheuer, her voice laced with a subtle thrill, urged him,
“Make sure everything is stored properly in the magic stone. Don’t miss a single thing.”
“I got it, I got it.”
He replied irritably, casting a sidelong glance at the door. It seemed that just beyond it, the attendants lined up, ready to assist her as soon as the ceremony began.
He strode over to her, leaning in close, and whispered with intensity,
“The plan. You haven’t forgotten, right?”
“Of course not.”
Scheuer nodded solemnly, matching his tone. Confident in his preparations, he seemed assured. Leilda quietly asked about Sevi.
“Did you see the target?”
“I glimpsed him through the window earlier. Just like Priest Koa said, he looks like he stayed up all night. He’s in a world of his own, having a great time,” Scheuer replied.
“Just the feeling of another world isn’t enough; I wish he’d send his real self too. Tsk.”
Leilda muttered, a remark that would’ve probably earned a scathing response had Sevi overheard.
Knock, knock.
Cali’s anxious voice came from outside the door.
“Your Grace, it’s time to go.”
It seemed they couldn’t come in without permission. Leilda, realizing this, nodded briefly.
“I’ll see you in the garden. Best of luck.”
“Best of luck!”
Scheuer replied, raising her fist in a playful show of support. Leilda finally chuckled and left the room.
“Oh, congratulations on the wedding, Scheuer.”
He added just before exiting, lazily raising one hand in a casual salute.
Scheuer responded with a bright smile, delighted to hear him speak normally for the first time.
As Leilda left, Jess and Naveed entered.
“Your Grace, it’s time.”
They said, and behind them stood Blenga’s knights, dressed in their ceremonial armor, with solemn expressions. Even those who usually helped her in the garden or training grounds, known for their cheerful demeanor, were now showing restrained, formal attitudes, a sign of Blenga’s tradition.
With Jess’s escort, Scheuer rose, flanked by the knights on either side.
“We’ll escort you,” they said.
Despite it being a festive day, Scheuer followed their guidance down the corridor, still sensing a lack of energy in the atmosphere.
As they approached the garden, she noticed a statue in the distance and squinted at it, questioning,
“I asked for it to be dressed in white!”
She had given those instructions in advance, but the statue remained bare, not even adorned with a simple wreath.
Jess, looking deflated, replied weakly,
“Your Grace ordered it to be removed.”
“Why?”
“Well, it’s not like you’re marrying the statue.”
His response, hesitant and trailing off, left him visibly trembling by the end.
Seeing his pale face, as though he might disintegrate on the spot, Scheuer had no choice but to pout in silence, holding back her annoyance.
As they passed through the garden, the distant sounds of the crowd grew louder. Ahead, the eastern building came into view, along with a white-carpeted path and tables scattered across the garden. And there, standing in white attire, was the figure she assumed to be Raygrain. Scheuer couldn’t stop the broad smile spreading across her face.
Bouncing lightly on her toes in excitement, even in her dress, she shook Jess’s hand, who was escorting her, and exclaimed,
“Jess, did you see? It’s the Grand Duke, right? It’s him!”
“Yes, it is,” he confirmed.
“Oh my, what do I do? Deep breaths. In, out. What if my heart stops because he looks too amazing?”
“That would be quite troubling for me,” Jess replied calmly.
Scheuer’s pace quickened naturally, and the maids hurried to catch up, holding the ends of her dress. The knights walking on either side of her kept a perfectly measured pace as they escorted her to the end of the path. Even from afar, Sevi’s voice was easily recognizable.
“That dress is one I chose, beautiful enough to receive the blessings of the gods,” he declared, subtly boasting of his discerning taste, all while maintaining his image as the high priest.
It wasn’t like Leilda to stay quiet, but thankfully, Sevi maintained his reverent demeanor in front of many.
As they neared Raygrain, Jess gently let go of Scheuer’s hand. He kneeled on one knee, kissed the back of her hand in a gesture of servitude, and said,
“Congratulations on your wedding.”
His voice was more steady than it had ever been before.
Naveed followed suit, offering the same gesture. With that, the knights behind Scheuer lined up, planting their swords into the ground as they knelt, a symbol of their allegiance as knights of Blenga.
Scheuer looked ahead, and there stood Raygrain, waiting for her, his upright figure silhouetted against the garden. Her mouth slowly opened in awe as she took in the sight of him in the white uniform she had dreamt of. His gloved hand extended toward her.
Her grip tightened on the bouquet. Raygrain, noticing, softly warned,
“No running.”
Though she wanted nothing more than to rush over, the trailing lace of her dress made it impossible. Eager to at least reach his hand quickly, she stretched out her arm, and he expertly caught it, taking a step closer to her in return.
Scheuer smiled brightly and exclaimed,
“It’ll take me three years to take in everything about the Grand Duke from head to toe!”
“Then for at least three years, I’ll stay with that smile,” he replied with a small smile of his own.
“You look so happy,” he added quietly.
To keep herself from squealing with joy, Scheuer clenched their joined hands tightly. But he held on even more firmly.
I need to remember this forever!
“You are my yellow”
