The Villain is Being Suspiciously Kind - The End

Chapter 123
The next morning, Citrina woke up to the sound of birds. She thought she felt a little suffocated…
Upon opening her eyes, the first thing she saw was Desian’s naked body, his arms wrapped around her in a tight, intertwined embrace. Their bodies were perfectly pressed together, and Citrina could immediately feel his strong body against hers.
Then, she remembered what they did yesterday…and felt even more embarrassed.
‘Oh, shame on me for waking up!’
Citrina squeezed her eyes shut in frustration. But even when she closed her eyes, she had a problem.
As soon as she closed her eyes, the events of last night naturally replayed in her mind.
‘… I’m pretty sure I was sober yesterday!’
Her ears began to burn red. So red, so very, very red, that her ears could have steamed.
Citrina banged her head on his firm chest, frustrated.
‘Ah, how embarrassing! How on earth am I supposed to see his face?’
Citrina made a decision.
First, she needed to remove the arm wrapped around Desian’s body. Slowly and gently, she pulled the trembling arm away from his body.
At last, when Citrina had accomplished the task of removing her arm from Desian’s body.
A low chuckling voice came from above her head. Unable to look down or up, Citrina spoke.
“When did you wake up?”
A voice that sounded less than awake rang in her ears.
“When you touched my body?”
Citrina thought his words were a little suggestive, so she looked up and saw him smirking.
“Don’t tease me!”
Citrina could feel it.
Her voice was a little squeaky now. Desian must have noticed, because he laughed low.
“Okay, Rina, get some more sleep.”
Desian’s voice was tinged with drowsiness. Citrina was determined to get out of this bed.
Watching these flesh-colored scenes over and over again was disorienting.
Maybe a minute, maybe thirty minutes.
That’s all the time she needed to get out into the bright sunshine.
‘I’m glad I didn’t bring Gemma.’
If Gemma had subconsciously read the thoughts in her head, she might have corrupted a pure elemental.
She slowly pushed herself to her feet, feeling a lump at the base of her throat. Desian didn’t stop her.
Citrina hastily gathered her clothes and stepped out into the villa’s front yard. There was a pretty flower bed that looked like it had been kept clean by the groundskeeper.
“Oh, a cat!”
There was an adorable stray cat in the yard. The all-black cat looked at her and perked up his ears.
“You’re a dog-like cat, aren’t you?”
Meow.
The cat rubbed its face against her leg. It was a cute gesture of affection. Citrina sat down and petted the cat lightly.
“Ah, It’s soothing…”
As she basked in the sunshine with the cat, the flesh-colored landscapes that dominated her mind slowly faded away. The warmth of the sun and the walk seemed to help her keep her mind off the sensual thoughts.
“I’m going for a walk, and I can’t remember anything from yesterday.”
Citrina giggled as she scratched the cat’s chin lightly. The cat’s yellow eyes looked up at her.
They looked at her as if to say, ‘Are you sure you can’t think of anything?’ Citrina was not good at lying to a harmless animal like a cat.
She quickly turned her gaze to the ground and whispered urgently.
“I’m not ashamed anymore. Truly.”
The cat meowed, and the sun was warm. Desian was probably still sleeping, inside the log cabin’s small bedroom.
It was a moderately pleasant, peaceful afternoon. She stretched her knees and pushed herself up.
‘Should we have breakfast?’
Breakfast would be prepared by the villa’s servants.
‘A light omelet and juice, maybe?’
She turned around, guessing at the breakfast menu. And behind her back…
“You really can’t think of anything?”
There stood Desian, grinning mischievously. Citrina blinked rapidly. She was very, very, embarrassed.
Meow.
The cat meowed and scurried off into the distance. Now, in front of an empty, catless yard, Citrina slowly opened her mouth.
“Uh…I’m, I’m thinking of you.”
She bit her tongue at the end of the sentence.
‘…What the hell do you mean, ‘I’m thinking of you’?!’
But her self-pity was short-lived. Desian grinned and strode toward her.
“Well, that’s good.”
“…my heart was almost broken because I thought you abandoned me.”
It was an unabashedly embarrassed whine. Citrina looked up slightly. He was still watching her, their eyes meeting in the air.
“I’ll be more careful in the future.”
Citrina nodded slowly. She guessed that at this point, her face must have turned red.
After a few moments of silence, Desian and Citrina sat side by side on a bench in the front yard of the villa.
Inwardly, Citrina was glad they were sitting side by side and not facing each other. She couldn’t see Desian’s expression if they sat side by side.
‘The sunlight is warm and pleasant.’
Sunlight streamed through the gaps in the dense forest. Citrina felt a languid rush of sunshine wash over her body.
‘The thing is, I’ve never felt so uncomfortable in silence with Desian as I do today…’
After a moment of basking in the sun, she decided to initiate the conversation.
The embarrassing things she’d done last night and this morning kept coming back to her.
“You know, Del,”
Citrina quickly brought up a topic. She was going to start with small talk, asking what they were having for breakfast.
“Yeah?”
But the moment she heard his counterquestion, she realized what she really wanted to say, and she whispered, blinking her sun-stained eyes.
“I somehow feel like I’m going to be busy every day from now on. I have so many things I want to do.”
Desian listened to her, then asked.
“Things you want to do?”
“Yeah. I want to build a business, and I want to have fun. There are so many interesting secrets in the world.”
Her entering this world and changing its ending would be one of those interesting secrets.
But Citrina didn’t go there. Instead, she asked a small question.
“So, what do you want to do?”
“I…”
Desian seemed to be choosing his words carefully. Citrina caught his lips twitching.
She waited a moment for Desian’s response, then smiled wryly. Her warm gaze remained on him.
“So, you, what do you want to do with your life?”
At her gentle prodding, Desian opened his lips slowly.
“To marry you.”
It was a simple, honest answer that made her wonder if he’d thought this long to say it. Citrina fought back the laughter that threatened to break out at the cute, simple answer. He hesitated, then added one more thing.
“Um…I want to be with you. Every morning.”
Basking in his honesty, Citrina asked.
“You know something?”
“What?”
She knew that marriage was Desian’s desire because he wore his feelings on his sleeve so naturally.
Citrina leaned against Desian’s shoulder and slowly closed her eyes.
“That I feel the same way about you.”
A warmth rushed to her cheeks, a warmth she couldn’t tell if it was sunlight or Desian’s gaze.
But whatever it was, it didn’t really matter.
It was a warm, sunny afternoon today.
She had a pleasant premonition that everything was going to be fine, just as it was now.
