The Villain is Being Suspiciously Kind - Chapter 120

Chapter 120
As Citrina and Desian prepared for their engagement, the season passed by.
Finally, early summer, the time of their engagement, has arrived.
The time had passed and love ripened beautifully. The leaves were green and ready to bear fruit.
On the morning of her engagement in early summer, Citrina was at Duke Pietro’s house. After this day, she would officially be Duke Pietro’s fiance.
Sunlight was streaming warmly from the distant sky. Slowly, the sun was rising, and the morning was beginning.
‘It’s finally the day of the engagement ceremony.’
After a light breakfast, Citrina decided to get ready for the engagement ceremony with the help of her maid.
The first thing she did was pre-fit the dress for her engagement. It was a task that required a high level of concentration, as it might need to be re-sewn to fit her today.
“Let me help you try on your dress, Lady Citrina.”
The seamstress nervously whispered as she helped her try on the dress.
Citrina had always worn only comfortable dresses. Today was a very special day for her.
“It fits perfectly, and it’s beautiful, isn’t it, lady?”
Citrina looked in the mirror.
She chose a pale pink mini-dress that seemed appropriate for the occasion. It was lacey and sheer at the wrists. It didn’t go all the way to her neck, so it wasn’t too constricting.
“Yeah, it’s really pretty.”
-I can’t believe you’re getting engaged.
Gemma whispered from Citrina’s necklace, sounding like a true sister.
-Will you congratulate me?
-Of course!
After a short conversation with Gemma, Citrina finished trying on the dress and smiled broadly at her reflection in the mirror.
“Hi, Citrina!”
“Your Highness?”
Citrina greeted the princess with a bewildered look on her face. On the small invitation she and Desian had designed, the meeting time was set for two in the afternoon.
It was now nine in the morning, more than five hours until the engagement ceremony.
‘I thought the guests would have plenty of time if they arrived an hour before the ceremony…’
Looking at Citrina, Iana tapped her foot in excitement.
“I’m so excited! When does the ceremony start, it’s not long now, is it?”
Iana looked at Citrina with bright eyes. Citrina smiled back awkwardly.
“Well…the engagement is this afternoon, Your Highness.”
“Only 5 hours left! I was going to come yesterday, but I held it in, Citrina!”
Looking at the young dark circles under Princess Iana’s eyes, Citrina decided it was a good idea to invite her.
“You’ve been patient, Your Highness.”
If anyone was more excited about the news of Citrina and Desian’s engagement, it was Princess Iana.
Citrina nodded nervously, with a hint of certainty in her heart.
“Really, Citrina, your dress is beautiful. It would be perfect with a garland.”
Princess Iana’s senses were quite sharp. Citrina pointed to the garland in the hand of the maid who stood beside her. It was a small garland of fresh pink flowers and foliage, in keeping with the dress code of the day.
“I’m going to wear a garland.”
“I’m so excited! Today is my dream come true.”
‘…I wonder what it means, a dream come true.’
Citrina nodded, overcome with a subtle emotion that made her feel like she had to fulfill her expectations.
“Congratulations…?”
“Alright! Then I’ll keep waiting for you outside, Citrina!”
“Yes. I’ll see you soon.”
“I’ll be right there, Your Highness.”
With trembling hands, the maid carefully led the princess outside.
With the corners of her mouth twitching, Princess Iana left the room.
And just like that, Citrina greeted her first guest, Princess Iana, who had arrived so quickly. Unlike Princess Iana, the second group of guests did not begin to arrive until a little after one in the afternoon.
Nervously, Citrina got everything ready.
