- The Story of Gothic Lady Who Met a Grave Keeper in Another World
- Chapter 14 - I didn't realize it was such a dangerous combination.
“What the heck is going on with..?”
It was Sciuto.
It was difficult for Thorden, the grave keeper, to provide the young lady with everything she needed.
So the morning after he visited the town, Scuito brought some additional supplies, and somehow the number of houses had been increased.
Newly built, or a messy house?
Or a shabby house that looked like it was about to fall down at any moment?
Which house should I knock on the door first?
While he was wondering, he heard a voice above me.
“Thank you, Mr. Sciuto! Thank you for saving me! Please help me! Mr. Thorden!”
Sciuto jumped off his horse when he spotted Eri Himeno, who was turning blue and screaming, on the second floor of the shabby house.
Running up the noisy stairs, he was met by the sight of Thorden lying on the floor with a bloody nose and a groggy Eri Himeno.
“Um, suddenly! Suddenly, Mr Thorden collapsed and ……! His nose is bleeding ……!”
“Back off. Let me see.”
He helped Eri Himeno back up and checked the pulse of the fallen Thorden.
It was very fast.
And a nosebleed.
He also seems to be suffering from a slight fever.
Gravekeepers, by their very nature, have developed a resistance to all kinds of diseases.
This is a peculiar constitution that the world has given to gravediggers because a gravedigger who manages sick and dead bodies cannot function as a gravedigger if he dies of the disease.
If Thorden, the gravedigger, were to collapse, it would have to be something serious.
“What is it, some kind of illness? ”
”Oh my god, maybe that’s why he suddenly built a house or something to isolate me ….! And yet I forced myself to approach … Mr Thorden, who is not feeling well…”
Scuito looked up.
“Did he try to isolate …… you?”
” Yes, He did! You know, saying don’t come near me, don’t come closer…..”
“And you ignored him and forced your way closer?”
“I’m sorry,… but earlier this morning I shook his hand in gratitude and he shook me off,… but then he grabbed my shoulder or something, so I just kinda… I’m sorry…”
The first thing that comes to mind is the fact that the two of them have been in the same room together for a long time.
Sciuto lets out a sigh, slapped Thorden on the head, and stood up.
He grunted and got up.
“… Sciuto?”
Sciuto slapped Thorden’s head again.
“You’re a fool, you know that? What kind of a gravedigger turns over with a bloody nose when a woman comes on to him?”
“What are you talking about, ……?”
“I’m talking about you!”
“Stop it! Eri is looking at me funny! I mean, why are you here?”
Totally unaware of his situation, Thorden shook Scuito off and stood up.
Eri Himeno made a strange noise.
“Are you all right, Mr Thorden? Are you okay to get up?”
Thorden looked at Sciuto.
”What is she saying?”
“She was worried about you,” he said, “You suddenly got a nosebleed and turned over right in front of her. She thought you might be sick.”
Eventually, Thorden turns red and blue as he thinks back on his mistake.
“Can I tell you something? He’s not used to being touched by women, so he got nervous and blacked out.”
“That’s a …… private!?Stop it!?You’ll make her feel uncomfortable!”
“Were you aware of how repulsive you are? How could you say you would take her in when you are that weak to women? How about I arrange for you to get a woman on death row?If I offer to reduce your sentence, you might be able to find at least one of them to take your hand.”
”You …!”
Thorden was about to yell at him when she glanced at Eri Himeno.
He glanced over at Eri Himeno and her eyes seems to say, ‘You don’t plan to do what he says, right?’
“Don’t worry about it,” Thorden said.
She does not understand what the conversation is about, anyway.
”Well, please tell her not to worry. I used the power of many dead people to build the house where Eri lives.”
He’s just a little tired.
“I’ve never seen a gravedigger use his power for something as stupid as you did.”
“Shut up…”
”I mean, why don’t you just hold her? I mean, she is your property, right?”
”Shut up! I mean, what are you doing here, anyhow? Go home.”
“Oh, um, …… maybe you two fighting? Are you okay?”
Eri Himeno raised her voice discreetly.
Sciuto didn’t even try to smile but urged her to go outside.
”Thorden is fine. He’s just a fool who’s been deceived.”
”Ha, ha…”
”I’ve brought you some supplies that I think you’ll need.”
”What? Mr Sciuto? I’m sorry to bother you. ……!”
”If Thorden uses women’s goods, it will start rumours, and if you are planning to become a citizen, the fewer people who know about this secret, the better.”
When he urged her to follow him, Eri Himeno follows him behind like a chick following its mother.
Leaving a quizzical Thorden behind, he took Eri Himeno out and carried his belongings, which were tied to his horse, into the newly built, cosy house.
Eri Himeno immediately opened the bag and cheered when she saw what was inside.
“A mirror, a brush, and a … Oh, is that perfume? Is it perfume?”
“I thought the smell of death here might be too much for someone like you.”
“The stench of death……? Oh, come to think of it, I don’t really notice it. Is it because it’s cold? It doesn’t smell too much like a rotting corpse. …… This house is built by zombies, too. Well, thanks anyway!”
Eri Himeno sprays the perfume into the air.
The scent of sweet flowers.
Eri Himeno closed her eyes in fascination.
”I love the scent …… very, very much! Thank you!”
I’m not sure if I’m the same age as you.
He wonders if he too can become young if he changes his lifestyle.
”Ah!”
Eri Himeno suddenly raised her voice.
At the bottom of the bag, she pulled out a set of sewing tools. The embroidery tools are synonymous with the handiwork of women.
”Oh …… sewing tools! Wow, thank you!”
”Thank goodness. You seem to know how to use a needle and thread.”
”Yes, I do! Thank God, now I can fix my dress!”
Oh yeah?
To fix? The dress?
Sciuto looked at the fluttering dress that Eri Jimeno was wearing.
He was sure that Eri Jimeno was wearing that dress when she first came to town.
No way, he thought.
She didn’t mean to say that she sewed that dress herself, would she?
Sciuto shook his head left and right.
No, that’s impossible.
That would be a very special skill. When he asked her if she had any special skills, she answered that she was good at sewing.
”Um, Mr Sciuto?”
”No, …… nothing. By the way, sweetie. If you can use a needle and thread, you might be able to turn a few jobs around.”
”What? Really?”
”Oh. I’ll need some money after I write my book and get my citizenship, and …… well, it’ll help pass the time.”
Eli Himeno jumped out with joy.
And then–
”Thank you, Mr. Sciuto! I’m very, very happy!”
She hugged him.
With all her might.
Oh, I see.
I see, haha.
I get it, Thorden.
This guy must have it rough.
Sciuto gently grabs Eri Himeno by the shoulders and pulls her away from him in a very gentle manner.
He smiled as much as he could at the bewildered Eri Jimeno.
”Don’t do it again. You might get assaulted.”
Eri Himeno froze.
She was unaware? Now that’s a pain.
”No wonder Thorden built another house. I’ll be back in three days to check on you, and I want you to have the book finished by then.”
