The Queen of Villains - Chapter 20
~*~*~Bonus Chapter sponsored by Liz (1/2)~*~*~
Emily decided to visit Roger with Killian.
Killian said there was no need, but pretending not to know about the injured person made her uncomfortable.
“It’s common for members to get hurt. You don’t have to worry about each and every one of them.”
Killian muttered discontentedly throughout the carriage ride.
“But he got hurt because of me.”
“As I said before, you did nothing wrong. He’s [T/n: Lamis] the corrupt one.”
“But he was still injured while protecting me. I need to see how badly he’s hurt.”
Killian felt uncomfortable seeing Emily paying attention to another man while she was in front of him.
Lost in thought, Killian unconsciously clenched and unclenched his hand in front of Emily.
“Why are you suddenly doing that with your hand?”
Seeing Killian’s uncomfortable gestures, Emily asked worriedly.
“I think I might be injured too.”
“What? You got hurt?”
Emily, who was about to unconsciously examine Killian’s hand, paused for a moment.
“But until just now, you seemed perfectly fine.”
He had used his knife effortlessly during breakfast. Emily raised an eyebrow suspiciously.
“I have a high tolerance for pain.”
“Really? Then what should we do… Will you go back to the mansion and get examined?”
That wasn’t the answer Killian wanted.
“It’s fine. I can endure it.”
Killian reluctantly placed his hand back on his knee. He had never been jealous of Roger before.
Roger’s house was located at 7 Andros Street. It was a neighborhood where emerging nobles and famous people like Roger gathered.
“It’s an honor for both of you to come and visit.”
Roger, who wanted to rest, felt burdened when his boss and his wife visited together.
“We just wanted to make sure you’re okay.”
Emily sensed Roger’s feelings and spoke kindly.
“I wasn’t hurt much.”
Roger moved his arm to show that he was fine. Emily was relieved to see that there were no visible fractures.
“It seems your skills have deteriorated a lot.”
Roger bowed his head deeply at Killian’s words.
“I’m sorry.”
Even though Roger wasn’t in a position where he regularly had to fight , as a member of the mafia, being beaten so one-sidedly hurt his pride.
“The newspaper article was embellished enough, so take care of yourself and train under Chambers while you recover.”
“What?”
Roger’s expression instantly distorted. It sounded like some ridiculous joke to tell him to recover while staying with Chambers, who was famous for his Spartan training.
“Is there anything else you want to say?”
“Oh, no. Nothing.”
“Then we’ll be going now.”
Emily looked at Killian, who was about to leave after saying just a few words, with a reproachful gaze.
“Please wait a moment.”
And she ordered the prepared items to be brought in. In an instant, gifts began to pile up on the table.
“What are all these?”
Killian asked with a stern expression.
“These are medicinal herbs and snacks that can help with your recovery.”
“And what about the clothes and shoes?”
“Due to unforeseen gaps in your acting career, I prepared them with the hope that you would come back looking stylish and healthy.”
“Wow, thank you, madam.”
Roger was genuinely touched. While he had received countless gifts from fans, no one had ever taken such meticulous care of him before.
“Is everything done then?”
As Roger examined Emily’s gifts, he finally noticed the displeased expression on Killian’s face.
‘Oh, my God, those grudges shouldn’t be directed at me.’
As Roger placed the gifts down with a flustered face, Emily also stood up from her seat.
“I appreciate you stepping in that day. I hope you recover well.”
“Yes, madam… Thank you so much for coming all the way here.”
As Emily left first and Kilian was about to leave, he saw Roger’s tearful face and smirked.
“Still, you did a lot to buy time.”
Roger’s face blushed at Kilian’s praise, something he heard for the first time.
“Make sure to fully recover and return to work.”
“Yes! Don’t worry.”
After Kilian left, Roger was alone in the bedroom and muttered to himself.
“Ah, it’s just some training, no big deal.”

She came out for a visit, but the weather was too nice to just go back home like this.
“Have you heard the news?”
Emily showed Killian a bundle of banknotes.
“What’s this?”
“I won money in a card game. I got a straight flush that day.”
Killian smirked at Emily’s proud expression.
“You’re more skilled than I thought.”
“Really?”
However, Emily’s shoulders slumped again, revealing a gloomy look.
“But I guess the myth that you’re unlucky when you get a straight flash is really true. It happened as soon as it popped up.”
At that sight, Killian regretted once again for not finishing off Lamis, that son of a b*tch.
“Come to the club sometimes. It’s better to cause an accident in front of me.”
Killian threw a joke to boost Emily’s spirits.
“Look, Marquis Starr. Did I cause the accident?”
“Ah, come to think of it, some son of a bitch caused the accident.”
“Is that so?”
Emily shook the bag of money in front of him.
“I’m trying to spend that son of a bitch’s money quickly. Will you come with me?”
“If your father finds out that your mouth has become so foul in the afterlife, he won’t let me off.”
“My father?”
Emily couldn’t imagine her father scolding Killian.
But on the other hand, it wasn’t difficult to imagine her father being intimidated in front of her son-in-law.
Anyway, thanks to Roger’s desire to kick out the Boss couple quickly, the two had extra time and headed to a jewelry store.
Emily, who was already threatened by the Giuliano family, planned to buy a necklace with that money and hang it on the wall to remind herself.
“Welcome, Mr. Killian.”
“How are things?”
“Thanks to you, everything is fine. Please come inside.”
The owner led the two into a VIP room located inside the store.
“How about this? I intentionally took it out to show it to the Madam.”
The owner brought out a pearl necklace. It was a precious item with 120-grain round pearl surrounded by 12 large rose-cut diamonds.
“It’s really beautiful.”
But it felt too wasteful to buy this lovely thing with that son of a bitch’s money, so Emily hesitated.
When Emily was seen worrying, the boss quickly showed her something else because she didn’t seem like it.
“Or how about this?”
This time, it was an opal necklace. It naturally shone brightly with different colors like a rainbow in various directions, making it inherently valuable.
“Opal is even worse.”
Opal was usually considered an heirloom, so it was a gem that was handed down to the most beloved of her children, not the first or the second.
She couldn’t buy such a beautiful gem with such unpleasant black money.
‘Black money?’
Emily opened her mouth as if she had a good idea.
“Please show me black gemstones.”
Without asking any questions, the seasoned merchant opened the bottom drawer and took out a jewelry box.
The necklace the shopkeeper presented was adorned with onyx and gold, with black enamel embellishing its surroundings. In the center, there was a finely carved jet necklace with a cameo.[T/n: I attached an image of what it might look like, so you can get an idea]
“It’s absolutely stunning. Please wrap it up.”
“Are you sure you only want this?”
Killian remembered how Emily’s eyes had widened when she saw the pearl necklace and the opal necklace a moment ago.
“Why? Are you going to buy it for me?”
“If you want.”
“Alright, but it’ll break my neck.”
Emily jokingly dismissed Killian’s words and proceeded to purchase the jet necklace. Perhaps due to the craftsmanship of the cameo ornamentation, it turned out to be more expensive than expected.
After completing the gem purchase, they stepped outside and noticed that evening twilight had fallen. Street musicians played violins and cellos, accompanied by dancing couples.
Ivan, who said he would park the carriage in a suitable place, was nowhere to be seen.
“Should I kill that guy?”
Seeing Killian hesitate, Emily knew what he was worrying about.
“I won’t go anywhere. I’ll just sit here.”
“…Then I’ll call him right away.”
Kilian hurriedly walked with an anxious heart. When she couldn’t see him, Emily sat on a bench under a streetlamp and enjoyed the scenery of the sunset.
Next to her, she saw a child feeding ducks by the riverside, and a mother looking fondly at him. Fortunately, there were people around, so she felt relieved even though she was alone.
“Madame Starr.”
Shortly after Kilian left, someone cautiously called Emily. Confirming the person’s face, Emily quickly stood up and greeted him.
“Hello, Your Highness.”
Lucius’s face brightened when he realized that the person he called was Emily. He never expected to meet her here.
He was returning from drinking with his Academy friends who were visiting from the Robert Empire. But to meet Emily in a place like this! Could it be that we are destined to meet?
Emily, who he hadn’t seen in a long time, was still beautiful. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. It felt like she would disappear if he looked away.
Unable to take his eyes off Emily, Lucius was drawn to her and approached her.
“Why are you alone here?”
“I came out because I had something to do with my husband. He went to call the carriage.”
“I see.”
Seeing the seemingly good relationship between the two, Lucius couldn’t hide his disappointment.
“I heard my husband apologized on behalf of our house, but I’m sorry I couldn’t apologize in person.”
Lucius understood why Emily was apologizing and smiled, nodding his head.
“No, it was cute mischief.”
“Johann was curious about how Prince Lucius looked. Thank you for understanding.”
“It’s alright, thanks to that, I became acquainted with you so it was rather nice.”
Emily smiled awkwardly at Lucius’s reply, which was filled with strange feelings.
In the meantime, Killian, who had found Ivan, found that the two were together again and squinted his eyes as if he had a headache.
There wasn’t a problem with his wife’s movements, no matter if she stayed still or not, the problem was the entanglements around her.
Killian called Ivan, who was waiting, and went to where the two were.
“Your Highness, I meet you like this again.”
Lucius’s expression hardened when Killian appeared.
Lucius was handsome for a man. He had heard that such looks were popular among young ladies these days, but Kilian didn’t like that delicate face.
“I happened to meet her on my way back to the palace.”
“What an unexpected coincidence.”
Killian called Ivan, who was waiting nearby.
“Escort Madame to the carriage.”
“Yes.”
Ivan carried Emily’s luggage and escorted her to the carriage.
“Lady, please get on the carriage first. I will follow soon.”
“Okay. Your Highness, please take care.”
Emily exchanged greetings with Lucius and went back to the carriage with Ivan.
As Emily disappeared from the sight of the two men, tension built up between them.
“You don’t need to make such a big deal out of me.”
Killian sighed at Lucius’s words and took out a cigarette slowly.
“I may have grown up in a lowly manner and don’t know about manners, but I have one thing to teach you instead, Your Highness.”
As he rummaged through his pants pocket, he skillfully lit a match.
For some reason, that moment felt long for Lucius.
“Showing interest in someone else’s wife is one of the ten commandments forbidden in our world.”
Kilian’s expression, glimpsed through the rising smoke, was so cold it could freeze.
“People like us also abide by it, but it seems that noble people have less moral sense than we thought, which is quite disappointing.”
Lucius forced a smile at his words.
“Don’t you know that even married people can have freedom in love? Don’t act so old-fashioned.”
“So you’re openly telling me that you have personal feelings for my wife.”
“Didn’t you already notice it though?”
Kilian smirked at his words.
“Still, since you’re a noble, I tried to be somewhat respectful as long as you don’t cross the line.”
“Arrogant.”
“I’m speaking very politely right now. And today is the last day I speak respectfully like this.”
After looking at his watch, Kilian threw away what he had in his hand and adjusted his hat elegantly.
“My Madame is waiting, so I should go now. Please take care.”
His words seemed to warn that it would be wise to be careful even with one’s life.
Watching Killian leave, Lucius smiled as if he found him pitiful. No matter how rebellious he was, in Lucius’s eyes, he was just a mere gangster.
Recalling Emily’s face as if she was being held captive by such a Killian, Lucius slowly turned his steps toward the imperial palace.
Without even noticing that it was because of his own twisted mind.
