The Queen of Villains - Chapter 11 part 1
Killian, who arrived at headquarters for work, glanced briefly at the mafia organization members who came out to greet him and exchanged nods.
The temperature around them dropped noticeably under Killian’s swift but sharp gaze.
Even the members who were cleaning their firearms inside stood up from their seats to greet Killian. They were all sturdy individuals with a rough appearance, giving the impression that they shouldn’t be approached carelessly.
As Killian received their greetings and moved inside, he noticed a gun that caught his eye.
“What’s that gun?”
The organization member who received Killian’s question promptly answered without hesitation.
“It’s a new gun that just came out as a sample from the armory. It weighs 25 pounds, has a caliber of 7.92, and an effective range of 1,600 yards.”
It wasn’t difficult to purchase a firearm as long as one had a “firearm possession permit.” Understanding the structure of firearms and learning how to handle them didn’t take much time either.
However, the reason for separately training sniper agents who specialized in firearms was precisely because of “magic bullets.”
Making these magic bullets was initially challenging, so the supply itself was limited. Furthermore, handling them required a significant amount of magical power, resulting in long reload times.
In comparison, those with proficiency in swordsmanship had fewer restrictions and could attack enemies swiftly. Even though firearms were developed, it was for these reasons that swordsmen still played an active role during wars.
Firearms were mostly used in small-scale duels or assassinations among mafia members.
As such, despite swords still having many advantages, Killian, like other mafia members, learned to use firearms instead of swords.
Mastering sword techniques could take years, and noble families had developed their own unique swordsmanship techniques, giving them a significant advantage when wielding swords.
However, commoners who had no tradition or skills in swordsmanship couldn’t afford to invest several years in it, especially when they struggled to make a living.
Killian lifted the gun to feel its solidness. Even with the scope attached, it didn’t feel much different in weight from the previous ones. It was certainly one of the best among the recently released firearms.
At the age of 18, when he first held a gun, Killian became the top hitman in just one year. His effort played a role, but his ability to handle magic bullets was incredibly powerful compared to others, as it required a great amount of strength and precision.
Thanks to Killian’s genius ability, the Starr Family quickly became one of the four major families. Therefore, not only the Starr Family but also other sniper agents affiliated with different families couldn’t help but respect and admire Killian.
“Have you tested it?”
“Not yet.”
Killian placed the gun back on the table and spoke.
“When the maintenance is finished, bring it to my office.”
“Yes. I’ll also bring the dedicated magic bullets.”
As Killian took his seat, the officers came out one by one and reported the events of the previous day. Killian was particularly concerned about the Giuliano Family.
“What’s their movement?”
“Other than Lamis operating alone, there haven’t been any significant movements yet.”
Lamis was known as the nephew of the boss of the Giuliano Family. However, even they found it difficult to handle him due to his uncontrollable nature.
“Keep an eye on them.”
“Yes, understood.”
After getting married, Killian couldn’t help but feel uneasy due to the calmness of the Giuliano Family.
As he took out a cigarette with a suspicious feeling, Chamber’s voice came from behind.
“Killian, sir.”
“What’s the matter?”
“What is that?”
Chambers asked, pointing to the handkerchief in the front pocket of Killian’s coat. It wasn’t the style of Killian, who usually hates cumbersome things.
“It’s nothing.”
“It doesn’t seem like nothing.”
Chambers pushed up his glasses and gave a sharp gaze.
“Once again, you’re wasting your gaze.”
Even with Killian’s words, Chambers continued to reason on his own.
“A white lace decoration on the surface, delicate flower embroidery on the edges. This seems to be a handkerchief given by a woman.”
Chamber’s mouth curled up as he finished his simple deduction.
“If there is a woman who can give you a handkerchief like that, it must be Lady Emily.”
Nox, who was next to him, looked at Chambers as if he were pitiful.
“You think you’ve made a great deduction, but that’s something anyone can easily figure out.”
“…If even Nox figured it out, then I guess so.”
Nox turned his tongue and turned towards Killian.
“But seriously, what’s with the handkerchief? You don’t usually carry that kind of thing. Is it different for newlyweds?”
Then he smiled brightly and sat down right next to Killian.
“Wow, it smells nice too. Hm~ Is it a floral scent? Are you trying to smell like your wife even at work?”
Chambers frowned and stepped back.
“Nox, when you said that just now, your expression looked perverted.”
“I thought so too.”
Nox quickly admitted it and fixed his expression. Killian awkwardly brushed his shoulder that Nox had touched, as if feeling uneasy. The handkerchief was indeed given by Emily. To be precise, it was stolen from Johann.
It happened a few days after returning from the banquet.
