The Breakup Between You and Me - Side Story 13. Epilogue 6
Epilogue 6
“Careful, careful.”
“You don’t have to do that.”
She spent the first trimester mostly in bed due to severe morning sickness and a weak uterus, which required extra caution. Halfway through the second trimester, She shook her head as she made her way to the kitchen to eat, still feeling uneasy with the two men hovering around her. Honestly, there was no stopping them.
She couldn’t believe they were still fussing, especially after the doctor confirmed yesterday that she was stabilized and could engage in some light exercise and chores.
“It can’t hurt to be careful, though.”
“Sure, sure,”
She responded, giving the impression that she might ask them to leave at any moment. The two of them shared a great rapport. Initially anxious about going to work, he found comfort in having Miho by his wife’s side. Since discovering she was pregnant, he never considered asking Miho to leave.
On the contrary, she witnessed him expressing gratitude and giving her plenty of pocket money. Interestingly, during her extreme morning sickness when she couldn’t even eat her mom’s food, Miho’s cooking turned out to be quite good, and she found herself appreciating it. With two people like that, they deserved credit.
She laughed when Miho wouldn’t even let her pick up a spoon.
“Why, do you want me to feed you?” she said, half joking, half serious.
“Do you enjoy doing that?”
“Give it to me, and I’ll take care of it.”
As both of them reached for the spoon, her cheeks reddened.
“You’re kidding! You’re kidding!”
“Dig in; I’ve shed even more weight from morning sickness.”
She gazed at him affectionately as he gathered the side dishes and placed them atop the rice. It was the weekend, and he had the day off.
She cast an unnecessary glance at Miho, recalling her words from the previous night.
*”What?”
Miho’s face wrinkled and her arms folded as she asked “…what?”
*”You both are secretly becoming intimate” She blushed but smiled.
*”Are we?” Sooyin blinked, trying to make sense of what she was saying.
*”How can you keep it from me? Your expression tells me,” she asked, arching an eyebrow.
Miho’s eyes were quick to recognize her and sought her assistance.
“Ding-dong.”
“Huh? Has the package arrived?”
Ha. She must be insane to ask someone incapable of lying to help her. Miho made a funny look as she uncomfortably exited the kitchen, apparently putting on a show.
“What’s up with him?”
“Yeah, is he always like this?”
Sooyin supported her husband, while Miho muttered that both of them were acting insanely.
“You both seem suspicious; what are you hiding, pretending like nothing’s wrong?” he muttered, attempting but failing to threaten. She rose after looking at Miho.
“Where are you going? Sit down and complete your meal.”
“I’m full.”
“You won’t put on weight that way. You need to eat well so your baby can grow big.” Miho went on to say.
“I fancy some fruit, Miho.”
“Fruit?”
“Yes.”
She ate all of the fruit in the house the day before. Even if she isn’t hungry, her craving for fruit appears to be insatiable. Miho stood up as if she was about to flee.
“I’ll fetch it. That was exasperating.”
“…….”
Sooyin followed Miho into the living room quietly.
“What! Why is this guy here?” exclaimed Miho.
Sooyin could sense her rage just by looking at her back. Miho became so outraged when she saw Jiu that her breathing became labored.
“Hey, Cha Sooyin, is this your intention?”
“We need to talk.” Mr. Jiu, who appeared composed in comparison to the animated Miho, gripped Miho’s wrist, which she quickly yanked away coldly. “Don’t touch me!” she cried out. He took a step forward, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and silently asking if she was okay. She responded with a nod.
“Why are you here? We’ve already broken up,” Miho inquired.
“…When did we break up? You left me a note saying you wanted to end things on your terms and then came to Korea.” Mr. Jiu’s face looked pallid, reflecting the challenges he had encountered, though Miho couldn’t even bring herself to look at him.
“That’s when we broke up; please leave now,” Miho said.
“We need to talk” Mr. Jiu insisted.
Mr. Jiu grabbed Miho’s arm and ascended the steps as if words weren’t enough. Despite her cries for him to let her go, he seemed intent on carrying her away. As they entered their room on the second floor, the once-loud mansion grew silent.
“…Is it acceptable?” Sooyin inquired.
“Definitely,” Si-hyuk replied.
“She’ll be upset with me for calling Jiu, won’t she?”
Sooyin had told him the night before, as he was getting ready for bed, that Mr. Jiu would be visiting her. She was shocked because Jiu was typically the one who planned and took action. It had been a long time since their breakup, and now he’s decided to visit her. Recognizing Miho’s struggle with the consequences of their separation, she couldn’t help but harbor animosity for Mr. Jiu.
Mr. Jiu, on the other hand, appeared solemn, almost in pain. Suddenly, memories of their breakup came flooding back.
Miho and Jiu finally descended to the first floor. Miho’s eyes were wide and swollen, and her lips were also puffy as Jiu firmly clasped her wrist.
“I’m not going. Why should you and I go?” Miho insisted. “I’m staying here to witness Sooyins’ baby’s arrival.”
“What happened to your swollen lip?” Sooyin cut her off mid-sentence, and Miho, who had turned into a scorching sweet potato, slammed her mouth shut. Mr. Jiu, who stood next to her, had a powerful presence. As he looked at Miho, his expression remained unchanged.
“I’ll take you with me,” Jiu said.
Miho’s wide eyes expanded even more at Mr. Jiu’s statement. “Are you going crazy?”
“I’ve settled my affairs in America, and I already have a house here in Korea,” Jiu continued.
“What did you say?”. “You disowned your parents? Are you crazy?” Miho exclaimed.
He seems to have severed ties with his parents, having sold his American business.
“Yeah. I’m crazy,” Jiu responded.
“You fool!”
“Let’s not use profanity, Miho,” Jiu murmured, recognizing that there are no straightforward solutions to love and separation.
The baby in her tummy offered soothing comfort as Miho apologized.
“But I’m not going with you. Never.”
“Go.”
“No.”
“Come with me.”
“Are you out of your mind? We’ve been together for a while, and now you’re causing a scene?”
“Are you angry because I didn’t visit you right away after you left me?”
On closer inspection, Mr. Jiu wasn’t glum; he was worried. A manner that could only be worn by someone who has lost something extremely valuable. Mr. Jiu was worried about losing his most prized property, but Miho couldn’t see it.
“You forgot about me.”
“No, I didn’t. I always remember you every hour of the day”
“Enough! Don’t speak!” Miho was taken aback by her own words.
“I’m sorry I said something bad to you.”
“No, I’m sure you will understand,” Miho said angrily, ruffling her hair.
“Haha, follow me!” she yelled, motioning Jiu out the door. He then turned around and approached the front door.
“Ms. Sooyin, Si-hyuk, I’ll see you again.”
“Why should I see you two again? She’s leaving today, I’ll never see her again, so say goodbye!” She gave Mr. Jiu a brief bow, and as she passed past him, he said, “I’ll see her later.” He also offered a thank you.
She laughed as the two walked away. The atmosphere now resembled silence after a storm.
“Miho, you’re not coming in today, are you?”
“Are you coming?” he asked, surprised that he had returned after all these years and that he now owned a home.
“…Would it be like that, wouldn’t it?”
She was serious at the time because it felt like the world was falling apart, but in the past, he believed they had a childlike love affair. He understood Miho, who was closest to her, was probably feeling the same way.
“I know. My head hurts. Let’s go back to our room.”
“Yeah.”
Maybe it was the storm, but I needed to get away.
“I need to clean up the mess.”
“I’ll do it later.”
She fell asleep as soon as she entered her room. He sat down next to her and stroked her stomach gently. She’s both embarrassed and pleased with her somewhat visible stomach.
“Pucker up, you’re surprised, aren’t you?”
He says quietly as he pushes his lips to her stomach, making her smile. He shoves his face away, claiming it tickles, but he ignores her and places his lips against her stomach.
“Uncle Miho will buy you a lot of nice things if you come out instead, Dad will make sure of that.”
She locks her gaze on him, his eyes fixed as if he’s making a vow. She assumed he understood because he remained still when Miho screamed, but she guessed not.
“Did you talk to your parents?”
“I’ll talk to them later.”
Her parents were currently on travels. He sent them on a filial piety tour to honor them for giving birth to and raising a beautiful daughter. A month-long trip abroad.
He continued to rub her stomach and then her bulging calves. He’s considered it before, but he’d be an excellent father.
“Why?” he asks, before returning to massaging her leg.
“Just. I think I’m glad I married you.”
“So, have you ever considered marrying someone other than me?” Why is there a tension in his voice?
“Nope. I was going to never marry at all and live alone.”
His voice has a wistful tone to it. He pats her shoulder and beckons for me to step forward and sit. She stood up, moved between her knees, and took a seat.
She makes a pained cry as he touches her shoulder with his enormous hands.
“Why are your shoulders stiff?”
“I’m not doing anything. I’m just carrying our beautiful child.”
He said their baby was doing the biggest job, the one that pushed her bones apart and pushed her organs apart. The corners of her mouth stretched.
“Cool?”
“Yeah. I must have saved a country in a previous life, catching men like you,” she joked, rubbing the nape of her neck and placing his hand behind her back to carefully hold her.
“Your br*asts are bigger.”
“You like it?”
“I like it now, and I liked it before.”
She rolled her shoulders forward as he nudged her br*ast. She’s ticklish, possibly because the doctor says she’s stabilizing and that they can have a relationship, and he’s been keeping a lot of things to himself.
“Mmm.”
“We don’t have visitors, nobody’s disturbing us, so what do you think?”
“…I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?”
As he murmurs in her ear, she gets goosebumps all over.
“Shame.”
It has been far too long. Her body knows what a poke in the a$$ feels like, and it doesn’t take long for it to happen.
“Si-hyuk.”
“Huh?”
“No way, you didn’t clean it up, did you?”
“…No.”
She believes she responded a bit too late.
“Gah! It tickles!”
As he undressed her, she couldn’t think of anything else.
