Returning to Infancy with my Nemesis - Chapter 96
During the early days of freshman registration, there wasn’t much going on. Classes hadn’t even started yet, and they had to wait until the end of military training before they could officially begin. Right after the school started, Tang Mian would video call home every night, often pulling Fu Shizhao along.
Although they were already adults, suddenly being away from home for half a year still made them miss it a bit.
The two roommates in the dormitory had just finished digesting the fact that they were a couple, and now they were forced to digest the fact that they had already met each other’s parents.
Shao Xing had been dating his girlfriend for over two years, and whenever he met her parents back home, they always took a detour. He shared this with her during their phone calls at night.
After ending the video call, it wasn’t early anymore. Shao Xing, who was closest to the switch, also ended his video call with his girlfriend and turned off the lights in the dormitory.
Tang Mian brought his cat plush toy to school and would hug it to sleep every night.
Their beds were connected, but they couldn’t sleep on the same one—dormitory beds were small, and squeezing two adult males in one bed wasn’t comfortable. Also, since it was a four-person room, their other two roommates might see them, which felt awkward.
Only when their other two roommates were away would Fu Shizhao sneak into Tang Mian’s bed, give him a kiss and a hug, and be affectionate.
Their military training uniforms had already been issued, washed, and hung on the balcony. In early September, the temperature was high, and they could dry overnight.
Tang Mian didn’t take leave from military training. Although sweating profusely made wearing the hearing aid in his right ear uncomfortable, military training was indeed a good experience that could strengthen relationships with classmates.
In the previous life, he had taken leave and didn’t participate in military training. This time, he wanted to experience it. If it really didn’t work out, he could always take leave later.
The instructor had a quirky personality and would crack jokes endlessly, quickly bonding with them.
They were students from the Academy of Fine Arts, and there was a large fountain pool on the training ground. The instructor somehow managed to get a particularly large brush and let them dip it in water to paint on the ground, taking many videos of them.
Many students participated.
Tang Mian also made many new friends.
The training ground of the music academy next door was close to theirs, and they could always hear beautiful singing. Listening to it, Tang Mian suddenly became curious about what Fu Shizhao was doing now. Fu Shizhao also sang beautifully.
This morning, when they changed into their clothes to go out, Fu Shizhao also brought his guitar along, probably wanting to show off. Unfortunately, the training grounds of their two departments were too far apart to see each other.
Hopefully, someone recorded it.
The break ended, and a new round of training began.
Standing in military posture under the sun was indeed difficult for these students who had just graduated from high school and lacked exercise. Yesterday, a girl had already suffered from heatstroke and was sent to the medical room. Tang Mian also felt dizzy today.
Recently, it was hot, and Tang Mian lost his appetite again. If it weren’t for Fu Shizhao urging him to go to the cafeteria to buy breakfast every morning, he wouldn’t even want to eat. This morning, he secretly threw half a bun into the trash can when Fu Shizhao wasn’t paying attention.
Drenched in sweat and feeling uncomfortable, Tang Mian closed his eyes, feeling a bit of tinnitus and his strength rapidly draining. There was a sense of unease…
As the military training approached noon, as usual, Fu Shizhao came to the military training location of the Academy of Fine Arts to find Tang Mian and go to the cafeteria for lunch together.
Most of the students on the site of the Academy of Fine Arts had already left, after all, it was hot, and everyone wanted to get back to the cool air-conditioned rooms rather than stay here to “suffer.”
But his eyes scanned through everyone, and he didn’t see Tang Mian.
Fu Shizhao quickly took out his phone, only to find that Tang Mian had sent him a message an hour ago, and he had missed it because he had rushed over after his military training without checking his phone.
[Tiny Cat]: I’ve got heatstroke, resting in the medical room. Bring me some food after your military training ends, and pick me up.

Fu Shizhao quickly made a phone call.
He understood Tang Mian’s physical condition, which wasn’t particularly weak, but he couldn’t tolerate prolonged exposure to the sun. In past summers, Tang Mian would always hide indoors with air conditioning when it got hot. Now, participating in military training was a bit of a stretch for him.
What’s more, this morning he secretly threw away half a bun behind his back, thinking that he hadn’t noticed. He probably hadn’t eaten much, and he wished he had forced him to eat something then.
The call was picked up quickly, with a soft voice, lacking energy. “Is the military training over?”
Fu Shizhao made a soft acknowledgment, “Are you feeling better?”
“Much better after resting, just a little hungry,” Tang Mian replied.
“What would you like for lunch?” Fu Shizhao, with his guitar on his back, walked briskly towards the cafeteria.
“Nothing special, you can decide what to buy,” Tang Mian said. Fu Shizhao knew his preferences and wouldn’t buy anything he didn’t like.
“Alright.”
It was mealtime, and there were many students heading to the cafeteria. Fu Shizhao didn’t bring headphones, so they didn’t keep the call on the whole time. They weren’t new lovers anymore, so they weren’t overly affectionate.
When Fu Shizhao brought the double portion of lunch to the medical room, Tang Mian was playing a mobile game. Seeing him approach, Tang Mian stopped playing and eagerly looked at him with his phone screen turned off.
Fu Shizhao walked straight to the bed where he was lying, placed the guitar in the corner, opened the lunch box, and handed it to him. Then he opened a cup of lemonade and let him take a few sips. Lemonade was refreshing and helped to cool down.
Tang Mian obediently ate most of it, feeling better after filling his stomach a bit.
“Will you continue with the rest of the military training?” Fu Shizhao asked.
Tang Mian nodded, “Minor issue, today was because… uh… I stood for too long. Next time I feel uncomfortable, I’ll report it immediately and rest.”
That was close; he almost let slip about not eating properly this morning.
Fu Shizhao noticed his apprehension but didn’t expose it. He decided to wait until Tang Mian recovered a bit before criticizing him.
Fu Shizhao ate much faster than Tang Mian, who still had little appetite. By the time he had only eaten half, Fu Shizhao had already finished.
With a grain of rice at the corner of his mouth, Tang Mian’s eyes fell on the guitar Fu Shizhao had placed in the corner earlier. He spoke vaguely, “I want to hear you sing.”
There was no one else in the medical room eating at the moment, and the surrounding beds were empty. It wouldn’t disturb anyone.
It didn’t make sense for his boyfriend to bring a guitar to sing for someone else and not for him.
Fu Shizhao smiled and wiped his mouth with a tissue, then got up to pick up the guitar. He casually plucked the strings and asked, “What do you want to hear?”
“The one you wrote for me,” Tang Mian blinked and took another bite.
But instead of playing directly, Fu Shizhao said solemnly, “That’s a VIP song, you need to pay to listen, or you can pre-pay.”
Tang Mian: “?”
Tang Mian: “How to pay?”
The “payment” in his voice was definitely miles away from ordinary payment, and definitely not legitimate.
Fu Shizhao suddenly leaned in and whispered in his ear with a very soft voice, “A kiss = a coin, 100 coins = ‘doing it’, 10 coins for a song.
How many songs do you want to hear? How do you want to pay?”
Tang Mian’s ears quickly turned red, but he still stubbornly said, “Aren’t you tired from military training? Can you really do it?”
There was no one else in the medical room at the moment, so speaking ambiguously wouldn’t be overheard by others.
“Want to try? See if I can do it,” Fu Shizhao raised his eyebrows.
Tang Mian pursed his lips, avoiding eye contact, and tried to escape the situation, “One song, payment with 10 kisses.”
Fu Shizhao couldn’t help but chuckle at Tang Mian’s evasion, but he didn’t continue teasing. He sat up straight and started playing the guitar. The music was filled with love and overflowed out of the window in the afternoon.
That night, in the dormitory bathroom.
Tang Mian pushed Fu Shizhao against the wall and kissed him on the lips, taking the initiative to repay his debts.
They didn’t dare to mess around in such places at school. Even if they occasionally wanted to have fun, they would go to a hotel. But normal kisses were allowed.
After ten kisses, Tang Mian was about to leave, but Fu Shizhao suddenly took the lead and kissed his ear, “I forgot to mention, you can save coins.”
“Want to save some more? Not kissed enough yet.”
