Returning to Infancy with my Nemesis - Chapter 41
The two adults on the side were shocked for a long time when they saw it. Finally, when Fu Chuming was about to catch the bees again, Fu Yu quickly picked him up and left the small vegetable garden with the three little ones.
Children at the age of four or five were innocent, unaware of the dangerous of certain things.
Fortunately, Fu Chuming was not injured.
Tang Mian didn’t dare to hold Fu Chuming’s hand , afraid to catch the bees again – he couldn’t overcome that emotional hurdle. So, he pushed Fu Shizhao and let him do it.
Fu Shizhao obediently went to catch the bees.
After all, it’s a “team effort.” It can’t just be Tang Mian and Fu Shizhao sticking together, neglecting Fu Chuming; that would have a significant impact on a child.
Fu Chuming was very happy.
From a young age, he had health issues and didn’t go to kindergarten. His personality was quite introverted, and other kids didn’t want to play with him, so he didn’t have many friends.
He still wished to make friends.
After wandering around the courtyard for a while, the housekeeper came and called them to go back for dinner.
Dinner was prepared extravagantly, and Tang Mian unintentionally ate until his belly was slightly full. He took Fu Shizhao and Fu Chuming for a walk in the courtyard to aid digestion.
The night-time courtyard was exceptionally quiet, with only the gentle, flowing sound of the river.
Tang Mian suddenly felt a longing for the little cat back home.
If only Cotton Candy were here.
He stayed out all night on the very first night he got it, he didn’t want to be an unreliable cat owner.
After some thought, Tang Mian borrowed Fu yu’s phone and made a video call to his own mother.
Although his phone watch could also make calls, it wasn’t as convenient for video calls.
He really wanted to grow up quickly and have his own phone; it would make many things much easier.
Seeing Tang Mian having a great time on the call and making new friends, Shen Siwan was excited and took the little kitten from the cage, bringing it to the camera to entertain the three little ones.
“Meow.” The kitten curiously brought its pink, tender little nose close to the phone screen and gave a little sniff, as if giving a virtual kiss to the person on the other end of the video call.
Without understanding what was happening, the kitten then extended its paws to pat the phone screen, causing the image on the phone to wobble for a few seconds.
Tang Mian wished he could reach through the phone screen and hug the kitten tightly and give it a good cuddle.
He spent a long time talking to his mom through the video call and was reluctant to hang up. This made Shen Siwan a bit worried, wondering if he was feeling homesick.
In fact, when Fu Yu had called earlier to invite Tang Mian to visit their new home with Fu Shizhao, she had been a bit concerned. After all, Tang Mian had never spent a night away from them before, and there were so many uncertainties.
However, she didn’t interfere and thought that if Tang Mian were really scared, they could bring him back home in the evening. Besides, having Shizhao with him should make Tang Mian less fearful.
Sensing his mom’s concern, Tang Mian quickly found an opportunity to end the conversation, saying, “Mom, Little Ming is going to leave soon, and Zhao Zhao and I will see him off.”
Shen Siwan smiled and nodded, “Okay.”
“Mom, remember to prepare flowers,” Tang Mian reminded before ending the call.
“I’ll remember, I’ll bring them when I pick you up after school tomorrow,” Shen Siwan responded, feeling extremely pleased with her child’s thoughtful behavior.
Although she understood the differences between the Fu family and their own, she had never wanted to climb the social ladder by associating with the Fu family. She didn’t want to “manipulate” her child.
The little kitten cooperatively let out a soft “meow,” behaving exceptionally well.
Having eaten many sweet strawberries, made a video call to their cat, and knowing that Fu Shizhao would warm his bed tonight, Tang Mian’s mood was so good it was almost overflowing.
However, it was getting late, and the night had fallen completely. The bright moon hung in the sky, complemented by lanterns that lit up the room.
Fu An didn’t know when he had also come out of the house. He stood beside Fu Yu, quietly talking with him, without interrupting or interfering with their video call.
Fu An and Fu Chuming didn’t stay here overnight. They had already mentioned during dinner that they would be heading back in the evening.
Even the old lady didn’t insist on them staying.
Fu Shizhao knew that his younger uncle’s actions were also to protect him. If they got too close, they would surely attract the attention of other members of the Fu family. It was best to maintain some distance.
Additionally, both he and Fu Chuming had health issues, and they needed to take medication and receive care when they returned home. It wasn’t convenient for them to spend the night elsewhere.
After seeing the two off, Fu An suddenly gave something to Fu Shizhao, saying, “Early happy birthday to you.”
It was a silver bracelet, not brand new, and it seemed to have some years on it, with the silver having darkened a bit.
Fu Shizhao knew that this was an heirloom left by his father.
In his previous life, after he was recognized and accepted into the Fu family, he received this bracelet. It wasn’t worth much money, but it was a sentimental token of his parents’ love. His father had given it to his mother as a symbol of their love, and it held significant meaning.
When his mother was pregnant with him, she had been set up and almost miscarried, nearly losing her life during the operation to save him.
His father, deeply in love with his mother, couldn’t bear to see her suffer and leave her son without a mother, so he left this bracelet as a symbol of their love.
Accepting this, he immediately decided to entrust himself till he grew up to the person his mother trusted.
Fu Shizhao pretended to be happy as he accepted the bracelet. “Thank you, Uncle.”
Fu An smiled and ruffled his little head without saying anything more.
He understood deep down that even a simple cake would have been a better gift for a three or four-year-old child, but he had no choice. This bracelet was a relic from his brother and sister-in-law and had to be given to Fu Shizhao.
After this meeting, he wouldn’t arrange for Little Ming and Fu Shizhao to meet again in the near future to prevent anyone with ill intentions from getting involved or taking any actions behind the scenes.
After the two left, the housekeeper locked the gate to the courtyard and returned with them to the house.
The old lady was sitting on the sofa, watching the news on TV. She still had the flower on her ear, not taking it off. When she saw them return, she waved and smiled at them.
The two kids hurriedly held hands and ran over.
“I heard that Little Mian was scared by the bees in the vegetable garden today,” the old lady said as she gently ruffled Tang Mian’s hair, making it clear that the housekeeper had informed her of what happened tonight.
Tang Mian looked a bit embarrassed and lowered his eyelashes, his little ears turning slightly red.
It was embarrassing that everyone knew about it…
Fu Shizhao, seeing this, patted his little chest. “I will protect my big brother.”
“Good, good.”
The old lady seemed to recall some memories and her eyes filled with tenderness.
Her husband had said similar words to her back then. He had treated her very well, knowing she was a strong woman, caring for her health, supporting her career, and they had only one child together. [T/N : not sure about this part, I forgot all the previous plot. Somebody helpp]
Unfortunately, her husband’s life had been short, and he had passed away early.
Unexpectedly, in her old age, she had become a bit sentimental.
After having a conversation with the two little ones and listening to their stories about the amusing incidents in their previous lives, it was clear that it was getting late, and it was time for them to wash up and go to bed.
Although the old lady wanted to spend more time with the two kids, listening to their childish yet amusing conversations, she realized they had to go to kindergarten the next day. So she let them go to wash up.
There was still a lot of time ahead. Even though she was in her seventies, she had always taken good care of her health, and she was still in good shape. She believed she would live to see the two kids go to college.
Thinking about this, a smile couldn’t help but appear on the old lady’s lips.
They were just starting kindergarten, and yet she was already thinking so far ahead about college…

Following behind Fu Yu, and being led by Fu Shizhao, Tang Mian walked towards Fu Shizhao’s new room with an excited look on his face.
Even though he had already heard Fu Shizhao describe his new room as spacious, seeing it with his own eyes left Tang Mian in awe.
It wasn’t just big; it was almost as spacious as a standard one-bedroom apartment with a living room, a bathroom, and a balcony.
The room was beautifully decorated, with almost everything a child of their age would need. The tables and chairs were all the right size for them.
It was clear that the old lady had been very kind to Fu Shizhao.
Fu Yu first took them to the bathroom for washing up, and after they were ready, he left.
He had slept with Fu Shizhao the previous night, and now that Tang Mian had arrived, he returned to his own room, afraid that his snoring might disturb the two children during the night.
His room was right next door, so he could come over immediately in case of any issues.
For safety, the old lady’s house was equipped with surveillance cameras in all areas except the bathroom. She had also shared access to the surveillance of Shizhao’s room with Fu Yu. He could check the surveillance before going to sleep to ensure the well-being of the two children.
After all, the kids were still young, and their safety was the top priority. As they grew older and became more conscious of privacy, the surveillance would have to be removed.
Sitting on the soft bed, Tang Mian couldn’t resist rolling around a few times, which made the fluffy hair on his head stand on end.
Suddenly, Tang Mian’s attention was drawn to a tablet on a small table not far away. He immediately got out of bed and brought the tablet over.
Fu Shizhao smiled and leaned closer, resting his chin on Tang Mian’s shoulder.
He knew that Tang Mian would want to play with the tablet, so he had placed it in a conspicuous spot.
The tablet didn’t have a password, and Tang Mian swiped it to access the main screen.
Inside, there were many apps, some pre-installed on the tablet, and others downloaded later. A significant portion of these were early education apps, most likely downloaded for Fu Shizhao.
Tang Mian honestly wanted to play with the tablet, but it seemed like his dad enjoyed sports, and his mom liked tending to her flowers. Plus, he loved watching cartoons, so for the sake of his eyes, they hadn’t bought a new tablet after the old one broke. The TV was more than enough to satisfy his entertainment needs at this age.
His big brother had a tablet, though. His parents had probably instructed him not to let Tang Mian have access to it and to keep it in his own room.
“Dad said this is called a tablet,” Fu Shizhao introduced playfully. “You can take pictures with it.”
With that, he demonstrated how to use the camera on the tablet.
Fu Shizhao extended his little hand and opened the camera, smiling as he said to Tang Mian, “Big brother, let’s take some pictures.”
Tang Mian, seeing himself and Fu Shizhao on the tablet screen, paused for a moment but didn’t refuse.
Tang Mian had never been a fan of taking pictures, mainly because he didn’t like to manipulate his facial expressions. In his previous life, he rarely took selfies. However, he now felt like taking pictures with Shizhao and preserving some memories was a good idea.
It wasn’t the first time he was taking photos with Fu Shizhao, as his mom used to sneakily take pictures of them. But taking selfies was a first…
To his surprise, Fu Shizhao suddenly opened the camera’s built-in special effects, expertly selected a cat-themed effect from the favorites folder. It seemed like he had done this before, most likely taught by Uncle Fu Yu.
Tang Mian noticed that the favorites folder was full of cute animal-themed photo effects, which probably were added by Uncle Fu Yu.
As Fu Shizhao activated the cat-themed effect, Tang Mian and Fu Shizhao’s heads instantly gained a pair of adorable cat ears, and their faces had whiskers added, making them look quite cute.
Just then, a prompt popped up on the screen:
[“Meow” can trigger special sticker effects~ *???*]
Tang Mian: “…”
Tang Mian’s gaze shifted to Fu Shizhao, who was peering at the screen next to him.
In theory, a three or four-year-old child wouldn’t understand so many words, and Fu Shizhao shouldn’t be able to read this message. But he really wanted to hear Fu Shizhao mimic a cat’s meow.
How could he trick him into doing it…
At the same time, Fu Shizhao was thinking about the exact same question!
