Returning to Infancy with my Nemesis - Chapter 104
Summer vacation was over, and it was time for the sophomore year to begin.
The former freshmen of the first year would now become the seniors of the second year.
At the start of the new semester, Tang Mian took on the role of a freshman guide to fulfill his water credit requirement, providing assistance to the incoming freshmen in the School of Fine Arts.
Each department set up large parasols, and Tang Mian wore a small fan around his neck. The campus was well-shaded with plenty of trees, so it wasn’t too hot.
Coincidentally, Fu Shizhao had been busy lately. He liked to keep himself occupied when Fu Shizhao was busy, so that they could save time for dates when they were both free.
“Senior, can you tell me where the infirmary is? I just fell and hurt myself.” A voice suddenly rang out, drawing Tang Mian’s attention.
In addition to him, there was another male student and two other female students responsible for this area. The other male student had disappeared, most likely helping freshmen with their luggage or guiding them, while the other two female students were still around. However, the one asking the question was a freshman, so naturally, he would prefer to ask someone of the same gender.
Tang Mian’s gaze fell on the scraped knee of the student. He stood up and said, “It’s right over there, very close. I’ll take you there. You can leave your luggage here for now.”
The freshman nodded with a smile. “Thank you, senior.”
The freshman seemed to be quite sociable. With Tang Mian’s help, they quickly exchanged names.
The freshman’s name was Yu Hong, and after learning Tang Mian’s name, he always addressed him as “Senior Tang” with affection.
Tang Mian had heard too many terms of sweet nothings from Fu Shizhao, so he was somewhat immune to them and didn’t notice anything unusual.
Yu Hong was tall, but he couldn’t help but cry out when the school nurse treated his knee, grabbing onto the sleeve of Tang Mian’s sunscreen shirt in panic.
“It hurts so much.”
Tang Mian quickly comforted him, “Hang in there. Injuries in summer need to be treated carefully, or they might easily get infected.”
“Yeah,” Yu Hong gritted his teeth and stopped whimpering, but his hand still held onto Tang Mian’s sleeve.
Tang Mian’s attention was focused on the nurse treating Yu Hong’s knee, and he didn’t notice his subtle gesture.
After treating the wound, Tang Mian asked, “Where’s your dormitory? I’ll take you there first to rest. I’ll ask another senior to help with your luggage.”
“It’s in Building 19. Are all the dormitories for students in the School of Fine Arts in Building 19?” Yu Hong asked.
Tang Mian nodded slightly and took out his phone from his pocket, replying, “The school usually arranges it that way.”
“Does Senior Tang live here too?”
Tang Mian shook his head and sent a message to another senior who was also participating in the freshman orientation task, asking him to meet at the reception area and help this freshman and his luggage to the dormitory.
Yu Hong didn’t ask anything else and obediently followed Tang Mian’s arrangements. He was accompanied by Tang Mian and another senior to the dormitory.
Just as Tang Mian and the other senior were about to leave, Yu Hong suddenly stopped them, smiling and saying, “Can I add both of you seniors on WeChat? There might be some things I don’t understand and need to ask you. After I finish setting up my dorm, I’ll treat you both to dinner.”
Neither of them thought too much about it and added him on WeChat.
After they left, Yu Hong eagerly opened Tang Mian’s profile and Moments.
Tang Mian was just too appealing to him, with his gentle and handsome appearance. He was completely captivated by him at first sight.
Hopefully, he was still single.
Tang Mian’s profile picture was a white kitten curled up asleep, not like a processed internet image but more like a casual snapshot.
Sure enough, after clicking into his Moments, it was filled with pictures of cats. However, the viewing range of his Moments was limited to his friends, which was a pity.
The only remaining post was from last night, with several pictures of cats attached.
One was a handsome long-legged tabby cat, and the other was the same as the one in his profile picture. Both should be cats he raised himself.
The caption read, “The cats don’t want to go back to school.”
So adorable.
He was referring to the cats.
It seemed like he didn’t have a partner yet, so there was still a chance.
During the beginning of the semester, Fu Shizhao went out of town for a while, while Tang Mian completed his task of receiving new students and successfully obtained the credits. After that, he moved into the dormitory.
After all, the dormitory was the closest place to the teaching building, just a few minutes’ walk away, making it very convenient for attending classes.
If he stayed at home, he would have to drive to and from school alone, which was both boring and tiring.
Both cats at home had grown up. As long as there was enough food and water, it was no problem for them to stay at home for two days. Besides, there were surveillance cameras, and Tang Mian would occasionally glance at the monitor in the cat room to ensure the well-being of the two cats.
Two days later, it was already the weekend, and Fu Shizhao had some free time, so he could come and live with Tang Mian.
Fu Shizhao never expected that after being away for just a few days, someone else would start having thoughts about his partner.
On the second day of the freshmen registration, Tang Mian encountered Yu Hong in the school cafeteria.
Yu Hong, carrying a tray by himself, greeted him with surprise, saying, “Senior Tang.”
Tang Mian was having lunch with the other two people in the dormitory at a four-person table, and Fu Shizhao was not there, so there was an empty seat.
Yu Hong walked over, and since Shaoxing thought he was Tang Mian’s friend, he warmly invited him to sit in the remaining seat.
The seat happened to be next to Tang Mian.
Yu Hong sat down in a good mood and continued to chat with He Miao and Shaoxing. He soon got their information and also added their contact information.
This was their second meeting.
After returning, Yu Hong casually brought up some matters about Tang Mian to the two of them.
Unexpectedly, Shaoxing directly said, “Xiaomian has been quite free lately. If you want to treat him to dinner to thank him, you’d better do it soon before his partner comes back in a couple of days, and he won’t have time.”
Yu Hong: “…”
Yu Hong couldn’t sleep all night. Finally, he realized—so what if Tang Mian had a partner? He just needed to wait for them to break up.
It seemed that Tang Mian’s partner was also from A University. Most university relationships didn’t last until graduation, so there was a high probability of breaking up.
He could treat Tang Mian even better than his current partner.
He would become Tang Mian’s considerate junior, gradually infiltrating into his life, and if given the chance, he could also sow some discord.
The third meeting was in the teaching building. Yu Hong called out to Tang Mian, asking for directions to a certain classroom. He deliberately took a detour before finding Tang Mian again, asking Tang Mian to personally take him to that classroom.
The fourth meeting was on Friday night. On the day of the freshmen registration, another senior who helped Yu Hong carry his luggage to the dormitory suddenly contacted Tang Mian, saying that Yu Hong wanted to invite them to eat at a street food market outside the school, especially to thank Tang Mian for his help since the beginning of the semester. He felt uncomfortable asking directly, afraid that Tang Mian would refuse, so he asked this senior to help.
Tang Mian thought about it and agreed.
Fu Shizhao was coming back tonight, but he was coming back a bit late, so he couldn’t have dinner with him.
The food street was in the direction of the small villa, so Fu Shizhao could go directly there to find him. The two of them could stroll around for a while, then buy some late-night snacks on the way back, which was convenient.
Moreover, in the past few days since the start of the semester, Yu Hong had indeed caused him some “trouble.” Since he had already made this invitation, if he refused now, he might feel guilty.
The food on the street was reasonably priced, not too expensive. He also wanted to save his appetite for eating late-night snacks with Fu Shizhao later, so he wouldn’t eat too much.
Hearing that Tang Mian had agreed to the appointment, Yu Hong was in a very good mood.
Although it wasn’t a “date” between individuals, it was still a big step forward.
Finally, they met at the school gate and walked together towards the food street.
During this time, Tang Mian received a call from Fu Shizhao.
“I’ll be back soon, probably around eight,” Fu Shizhao said.
“Okay, when you arrive…” Tang Mian’s words were interrupted by Yu Hong.
“Senior Tang, be careful, it’s crowded over there, easy to bump into people,” Yu Hong said.
At this moment, the last class had just ended, and many students were pouring out of the school.
But in fact, it wasn’t easy to bump into people. Yu Hong’s action was just a unilateral provocation towards Tang Mian’s current boyfriend on the other end of the phone.
Yu Hong’s voice was not low, and Fu Shizhao on the other end of the phone could hear him clearly. However, he didn’t take it to heart, just reminded, “Walk carefully, stay safe, I’ll call you when I arrive.”
“Okay, just come to the food street when you arrive,” Tang Mian said with a smile before hanging up the phone.
After hearing Tang Mian’s words, Yu Hong became instantly alert and began to quickly plan some strategies in his mind.
Tang Mian’s current boyfriend would appear tonight.
What a great opportunity.
He could do something subtle under the guise of a junior… try to sow discord between the two of them, and see if the person was thick-skinned or not.
The food street was on the square across from the school. It was crowded on Friday nights, with many people walking in groups, including many dating couples.
Thinking that he would see Fu Shizhao later, Tang Mian was in a very good mood. He couldn’t help but eat a few more meatballs.
Fortunately, he remembered that he would be having late-night snacks and watching movies at home with Fu Shizhao later, so Tang Mian patted his somewhat half-full stomach and stopped eating in time.
Yu Hong was puzzled. “Senior Tang, are you full?”
Tang Mian vaguely replied, “Almost, you don’t need to worry about me, just continue.”
Seeing this, Yu Hong also didn’t continue eating, but found some new topics to talk about, chatting idly.
Finally, Tang Mian’s phone rang.
Tang Mian hurriedly answered, sounding expectant. “Have you arrived?”
“Yes, where are you?” Fu Shizhao’s voice came from the other end, and it sounded lively, indicating that he was probably already on the square.
Tang Mian quickly told him the name of the shop they were in.
In no time, a hand was placed on his shoulder, accompanied by a strawberry candy apple being passed in front of him.
Tang Mian turned around in surprise, his eyes brightening as he looked at Fu Shizhao. However, constrained by the environment, he refrained from saying anything overly affectionate and quickly took the strawberry candy apple from him, intending to find him a seat.
But he was seated next to Yu Hong on the left and another guy on the right, and the shop was crowded with no available seats.
Tang Mian stood up directly and gave his seat to Fu Shizhao, commanding, “Sit.”
Fu Shizhao smiled and sat down without refusing.
Yu Hong secretly evaluated Fu Shizhao.
Although he didn’t want to admit it… this person did indeed look like a formidable opponent.
His appearance was impeccable, but he didn’t know what his personality was like.
Faced with Tang Mian’s act of giving up his seat, Fu Shizhao didn’t refuse. If he were in his shoes, he would definitely not let Tang Mian stand.
Thinking of this, Yu Hong stood up directly, tugged at Tang Mian’s arm, and said understandingly, “Senior Tang, you sit down. Standing is tiring.”
Finally, Fu Shizhao’s gaze fell on Yu Hong.
He didn’t pay much attention to the two people beside Tang Mian, after all, they both had their own circles, just like Tang Mian’s gaming friends circle. He wouldn’t interfere too much or force his way in, as this was the most comfortable distance in a romantic relationship.
But his sixth sense was always sharp, especially when it came to matters concerning Tang Mian.
He directly reached out and pulled Tang Mian into his arms, sat him on his lap, and smiled at Yu Hong, saying, “It’s okay, junior, you sit, he can sit here.”
Although Tang Mian was somewhat surprised, he didn’t struggle, thinking that Fu Shizhao missed him so much after not seeing him for so long.
Yu Hong was stunned for a moment, and it was this momentary expression that made Fu Shizhao confirm that this person’s motives were probably not pure.
In these days, he had heard Tang Mian mention this junior.
How did Tang Mian describe him again…..?
“Starting school, a freshman had a stroke of bad luck. He fell and hurt his leg on the day of registration. It’s really painful to get injured in the summer. You must be careful not to knock or bump into things.”
“This freshman seems quite outgoing, but why does he always eat alone? Didn’t he make any friends in the new class or dorm?”
“Someone’s sense of direction is worse than mine. They can actually circle around the teaching building, which is so organized, and end up back where they started.”
…
If the other party didn’t know about Tang Mian’s relationship status from the beginning, he could have been forgiven to some extent, but now…
Fu Shizhao held Tang Mian’s hand and unconsciously tapped his waist a few times. Not wanting to be “too inappropriate” in front of others, he lowered his head and rested his chin on Tang Mian’s shoulder, taking a sip of the bubble tea in his hand.
“Tastes good,” Fu Shizhao praised.
Agreeing without realizing anything, Tang Mian said, “Yeah, it was recommended by the junior, tastes good.”
“Let’s buy another one to take back later.”
Yu Hong felt somewhat uncomfortable inside.
The duo had turned into a quartet.
Yu Hong continued to try to sow discord using his clumsy methods.
Tang Mian was always slow in this regard, and with only Fu Shizhao in his heart, he didn’t notice.
Fu Shizhao amusingly watched his awkward and inconspicuous actions.
Finally, when Tang Mian and the other guy went to the restroom, Fu Shizhao raised his hand and rested it on Yu Hong’s shoulder, stopping him from following.
Meeting Fu Shizhao’s cryptic gaze, Yu Hong’s heart rate suddenly accelerated, subconsciously taking a step back, feeling a sense of impending doom.
The person who had his hand on Yu Hong’s shoulder gave a provocative smile and said slowly, “Your little tricks with this small amount of green tea haven’t even begun to work. I’ve long since mastered them.”
…
When Tang Mian came out, he found only Fu Shizhao there and couldn’t help but ask, “Where’s Yu Hong?”
Fu Shizhao looked innocent and said, “I don’t know, it seems like he had something to do and left early.”
“Oh,” Tang Mian didn’t think too much about it.
The other person who came out saw that Yu Hong had left, so he went straight back too.
Fu Shizhao took Tang Mian’s hand and said, “Let’s go home, silly.”
Tang Mian replied, “Okay… huh? Why are you suddenly calling me names???”
Fu Shizhao just smiled and didn’t say anything.
