- Chapter 19 - Part 1 - We Defend Honor with Blood (1/2)
A new world.
The night was dark, with the crescent moon hanging high.
A pirate ship, resembling the graceful appearance of a pink swan, sailed smoothly on the sea, creating ripples in its wake.
On the deck of the Fire Phoenix, a golden-haired young man reclined on a beach chair. His arms rested behind his head, legs crossed casually, and his right foot, clad in pointed boots, swung playfully. His defiant eyes were hidden behind sunglasses, making it hard to discern his thoughts.
“Poroupo…”
The unique sound of a Den Den Mushi (Transponder Snail) rang out, accompanied by footsteps approaching. Trafalgar D. Water Law walked over, carrying a precious white Den Den Mushi in his hands.
White Den Den Mushis were extremely rare, emitting interference waves during communication to prevent eavesdropping.
Even with the financial power of the Donquixote Family, they only managed to acquire two white Den Den Mushis.
Trafalgar D. Water Law bowed slightly and whispered, “Young Master, Vergo is calling.”
Donquixote Doflamingo shifted his wandering thoughts and accepted the white Den Den Mushi from Trafalgar D. Water Law.
The white Den Den Mushi’s mouth moved, and Vergo’s magnetic voice came through: “Young Master, the Silver Fox Pirates and the Whitebeard Pirates’ operation has failed.”
“Did that old immortal Zeff make a move?”
“No! According to information from my undercover sources in the Marine Academy, it was done by a new student there. He’s only 6 years old and single-handedly held off the executives of the Silver Fox Pirates and Whitebeard Pirates. In the end, except for Silver Fox Fukusei, he killed all the other executives.”
Upon hearing this, Donquixote Doflamingo stood up abruptly.
His pink coat, draped over his shoulders, rustled in the cool night breeze. One hand held the white Den Den Mushi, while the other was tucked into his pocket. He walked with a leisurely gait to the bow of the ship, gazing at the reflection of the crescent moon on the sea.
Donquixote Doflamingo remained silent as Vergo’s report continued through the white Den Den Mushi.
“My Lord, based on reliable information from my insider, Silver Fox Fukusei has sold out our secret human trafficking operations to the Marines. Former Marine Admiral Zeff ordered the top students of the Marine Academy to form a team and prepare to destroy our crucial base in the Sabaody Archipelago.”
“Zeff stepped down from his position as Marine Admiral years ago and is now just the head instructor of the Marine Academy. It seems he has no intention of directly confronting our Donquixote Family. Perhaps he aims to achieve the effect of shaking the mountain and frightening the tiger by attacking our important base.”
“Young Master, Zeff has dispatched a few top students. Should we send someone to eliminate them?”
“If they discover even a hint of our dealings with those important figures at the base, it could be detrimental to us.”
Upon hearing this, Donquixote Doflamingo burst into a distinct laughter.
“Fufufu…”
“Vergo, forgive me for saying this, but we are law-abiding citizens. How can we always think of violence?”
Donquixote Doflamingo’s words left Vergo speechless.
As pirates, isn’t raiding and plundering normal?
The laughter paused for a moment. Donquixote Doflamingo’s lips curled into a sly smile.
“When I orchestrated the joint ambush of the Marine training ship by the Silver Fox Pirates and the Whitebeard Pirates, I already anticipated their failure and capture, which would lead them to expose our important base in the Sabaody Archipelago.”
“Coincidentally, Chief Spandam of CP9 has been developing an increasingly voracious appetite lately. Surprisingly, he’s not satisfied with the tribute we regularly offer.”
“I’ve already instructed our operatives at the Seven Water Metropolis base to destroy the other pieces of evidence, keeping only the proof of our transactions with Spandam.”
“If the Marines manage to find this evidence, it would be enough to force Spandam to step down and replace him with someone more compliant.”
“In this way, losing an important base, the Marines gain the credit, achieving their goal of shaking the mountain and frightening the tiger.”
“I believe they won’t continue to relentlessly pursue our Donquixote Family. CP9 will appoint a new head, eager to achieve success quickly and thus will give us the green light for our business.”
“Whether it’s our Donquixote Family or the Marines, both sides will benefit. The only one to suffer, perhaps, will be that unlucky CP9 leader.”
The laughter, carried by the slightly cool night breeze, vanished into the darkness. The crescent moon hid behind black clouds, as if unwilling to witness such sinister schemes.
Night shrouded the world.
A crude single-masted sailboat crossed the sea.
Onboard were Yang Ming, Smoker, Tashigi, Drake, Jonathan, and Daddy Masterson—six individuals who had received a mission from Vice-Admiral Zeff. They had left the training fleet to head towards the Sabaody Archipelago, following the task assigned by Zeff.
With a gentle night breeze, the six stood on the deck.
Recalling the mission Vice-Admiral Zeff had given them, each one of them felt their emotions rise and fall, too restless to sleep.
“This is an extremely special mission, perhaps a significant challenge for you at this stage.”
