Chapter 60.1
Liu Ze’s heart sank. Hearing Lou Zhi’s words, Young Master Min must have found him. The only possibility was that Young Master Min crossed over him to find Lou Zhi.
“You said you know Zhonglan City well. You know Young Master Min’s way of doing things well. You think no one can replace you. You’re wrong! Someone else can replace you.” Lou Zhi paused and said in a deep voice, “It’s me.”
Sure enough. Liu Ze had nothing to say and looked at Lou Zhi.
“You came to me and asked me to deal with that surnamed Min together. That surnamed Min came to me and asked me to keep an eye on you lest you do something stupid. He even implied what I said earlier. It’s interesting, right? Both of you were looking for the same person to be your helper.”
Liu Ze closed his eyes and lowered his head sadly, “In my heart, you are not a helper. You are a brother.”
Lou Zhi smiled: “I also think so, so although I agree with Young Master Min’s words, I am still willing to stand on your side. I have been arranging and planning for how to make Young Master Min and An Ruochen die decently so as not to leave anyone a handle on us. I’m thinking about how we, two brothers, can retreat if we fail.”
Liu Ze still bowed his head.
“But today, that surnamed Min suddenly came to me and inquired why you asked him to go to the Guan Liu Pavilion. He said you and An Ruochen talked for a long time last night and felt suspicious. He asked me to confirm it. I will send a message to him if it is important, and he will come.”
Liu Ze sneered in his heart. See, he told An Ruochen that this Young Master Min wasn’t ordinary. His ears are too scary.
“Just in case, I brought people over.” Lou Zhi said, “If there are people from the military lurking here to harm you, I will help you to solve it.”
Liu Ze looking at Lou Zhi: “And then what?”
“Then, let’s hear your plan and discuss it.” Lou Zhi also looked back at him and raised his voice: “But now I’ve changed my mind.”
Liu Ze waited for him to speak further.
“If you kill your wife, I will be on your side. If not, I’ll be on Young Master Min’s side.”
Liu Ze’s heart sank to the bottom. He looked into Lou Zhi’s eyes and knew he was serious.
“Brother, we have been working together for nearly ten years. What kind of women have we not seen? I can find you any people you want! Why do you cling to this bitch? Are you under a spell?”
Liu Ze did not speak.
Lou Zhi looked pained: “Everything got ruined in her hands. You understood that as well. That’s why you faked her death! This way, that surnamed Min won’t lay hands on you, right? You even concealed it from me! How long can you hide it? Honestly, I didn’t care if she lives or dies. But you chose to fabricate her death, so you must have known how dangerous she was. She invited An Ruochen, what does she want? Kill us? And you let her go like that? Are you insane!”
“She’s just confused for a moment. After it’s over, and Young Master Min and An Ruochen are dead, she’ll come to her senses.”
“She doesn’t need to wake up.” Lou Zhi coldly said, “You are the one who needs it.”
Liu Ze looked at Lou Zhi, and his eyes were red.
“Kill her.” Lou Zhi took a dagger and handed it to Liu Ze, “Kill her. Then I will kill Young Master Min with you and then kill An Ruochen. Whoever gets in our way, we will kill them.”
Liu Ze stared at the dagger. His hand trembled a little.
Lou Zhi pulled his hand over and slapped the dagger between his palms, shouting, “Are you willing to be killed by this woman? If she doesn’t die, we will never have peace. You should never have married her in the first place! Wasn’t the trouble she caused enough? She cuckolded you, broke your heart, and wanted your life. Kill her! What is there to hesitate about? She must die!”
Liu Ze tightened his grip on the dagger with one hand.
Lou Zhi shouted, “Kill her!”
Liu Ze “ah” roared, lunged forward, and stabbed Lou Zhi with the dagger. But he did not expect that Lou Zhi was vigilant.
Liu Ze yelled. Lou Zhi also shouted and twisted sideways, fell off the chair, and rolled on the ground, avoiding Liu Ze’s attack.
Liu Ze lunged as hard as he could but failed, hitting a chair and falling to the ground.
Lou Zhi quickly rolled over and leaped up, swept his legs, lifting a chair to crash into the door. Bang! The door was open, and Lou Zhi shouted: “Kill!”
Lou Zhi’s men at the door tried to rush in with their swords, but the Liu family’s guard hiding in the shadows stopped them. Without saying a word, both sides attacked each other.
Liu family’s and Lou’s guards practiced martial arts together. Their kung fu was similar, and it was hard to distinguish between the two sides. But the House of Lou Zhi and Liu Ze was soon divided into high and low. Lou Zhi was a thug. Fighting and killing was a common thing for him. Liu Ze’s job was to gather the officials, walking in the way of the gentleman. He naturally cannot compare to the life of Lou Zhi, who has been living under the knife. A few rounds down, the loss has been evident.
Lou Zhi swung a chair and smashed it on Liu Ze’s body. Liu Ze screamed and fell to the ground. His dagger came out of his hand and flung to the side. None of them noticed the sound of a porcelain bowl falling to the ground in the room.
Liu Ze was trying to pick up the dagger, but Lou Zhi slapped him, and he hurriedly rolled away to avoid it.
Lou Zhi grabbed the dagger and lunged at Liu Ze. The latter was too late to get up and was pinned down with a knee and a palm by Lou Zhi.
He squeezed Liu Ze’s neck. Liu Ze subconsciously held Lou Zhi’s arm, but Lou Zhi’s other hand already raised the dagger.
Liu Ze watched as the dagger stabbed at him but suddenly heard an “ah” scream, and a gush of blood splashed his face.
The pressure on his neck was suddenly relieved, so Liu Ze ignored the blood on his face, kicked away Lou Zhi, rolled on the ground, and jumped up.
After wiping his eyes, Liu Ze saw Zhao Jiahua’s pale face, weakly holding a broken bowl of porcelain stained with blood. Lou Zhi’s hand covered his neck and moved back several steps, blood gushing from his fingers.
“You bitch!” Lou Zhi’s face was fierce, and he rushed toward Zhao Jiahua.
“No!” Liu Ze had no time to think. He lunged and blocked Zhao Jiahua’s front. Severe pain came from below his chest. Liu Ze sucked in his breath and kicked as hard as he could toward Lou Zhi. Both sides fell backward. Liu Ze pressed on Zhao Jiahua’s body and felt her hug him from behind, “Husband.”
