Oppa, That Must Be A Mistake - Chapter 3
Oh, my God.
Am I the only one who’s ever been called to the police for stealing a pair of underwear?
I’ll give you a hundred bucks and say we don’t know each other. But Kang Joo-won is my best friend’s older brother!
Even though we don’t have each other’s phone numbers, I can think of a million ways to get them. I can ask him for his number, or if you’re not comfortable looking at it yourself, you can ask the attendant to get it for you.
In a few days, I’ll naturally run into him at work. If he ask me for it then, I’ll gladly give it to him, and then he calls the police?
Are you sure you’re not crazy Kang Joo-won?
“The record has been written, so you can go now.”
After a brief investigation, the cop looked at Hye-joo with pitiful eyes.
“I hope you’ve made up with your boyfriend.”
“He isn’t …… my boyfriend?”
“Yeah, sure. Return the stolen item, and while you’re at it, clear up the misunderstanding.”
The police probably dismissed the matter as a love quarrel. They must have thought it was ridiculous. After all, since the report came in, it is necessary to formalize it, and since it is too insignificant to conduct a serious investigation, it is probably a matter of giving a few words of caution and sending it back.
“Kang Joo-won, you’re dead meat.”
Hye-joo’s eyes burned with combat instinct as she exited the police station in broad daylight. It’s a tie now.
“Damn this underwear!”
I will definitely throw it into that smooth face. Hye-joo moved her stride with flaming eyes.
* Ding-dong! Ding-dong!
“Mr. Kang, can you come out here, we need to talk?”
Bang, bang, bang!
“I know you’re in there, I just heard the water opening!”
Her snort heated up when she didn’t hear an answer from inside. Hye-Joo knocked on the door again, crumpling the black plastic bag containing Joo-Won’s underwear.
“I have the password to this house, and if you don’t come out now, I’m going to kick in the door, so let’s finish this. Okay?”
A moment later, the door swung open. Hye-Joo, who was about to pounce on the culprit, was a little taken aback by the familiar face.
“Ah…… Seung-won.”
Seung-won was wearing shorts and a T-shirt. His hair looked like he’d been gaming until dawn.
“Why are you looking at me like that, when your trying to get in? Come in.”
Seung-won moved out of the way and held the front door open for her. Normally, I would have went in and boiled a bowl of noodles, but I couldn’t do that now.
“Where’s your brother?”
“Joo-won? He went to our hometown this morning for work. Did you come to see him?”
“I have something to say. It’s fine if his not at home.”
“Hye-joo!”
Seung-won grabbed Hye-joo as she turned around.
“Are you okay? I was worried when I couldn’t call you and you weren’t home.”
My heart sank at the look of concern in his eyes.
Yes, those eyes used to make me hope for so much, but now they meant nothing.
“It’s no big deal.”
Seung-won was taken surprised by her tone. After a moment’s hesitation, he turned and grabbed Hye-joo’s wrist.
“Why did you leave without telling me that day?”
“I was so drunk that night, so I went to the bathroom to relieve myself, but the restroom were locked.”
“You went to the hideout to use the restroom?”
“What other reason could there be? What, you think I stole something from your house?”
“It’s not like that…… Whoa, I was just asking openly. Did you really know my brother was coming home that day?”
He was asking if I was a stalker.
The only reason I went there was because of you, to confess to you!
The words ran all the way down my throat, but I couldn’t say them. If I did, I’d lose two of my best friends.
“I was a little confused at the time, so I couldn’t explain it, but I’ll make it clear now. I only went to the hideout to use the bathroom, and I didn’t know Kang Joo-won was there, okay?”
“Yes? I thought so too, but Da-hee keeps saying weird things…….”
“What do you mean?”
“Well.”
Seung-won paused, then said.
“The song that was playing in your pocket at the time. It’s bothering me”
“What’s wrong with that song?”
“Da-Hee said this is the song she recommended to play for your crush…… is that right?”
My heart sank.
The confessional song that came on was indeed recommended by Dahee herself.
When she told me that I looked excited lately and that there was nothing we couldn’t talk about, and when I hinted that I had a crush on someone, she urged me to confess quickly, and she recommended that song. I didn’t realize that the person I liked was her boyfriend.
‘……Supporter without notice.’
Hye-joo tried to keep her expression calm, but was taken aback by Seung-won’s next question.
“But why did that song come out then?”
“… … .”
“She said it was a song to be played by someone you likes. But in that house, my brother and I were the only ones… … .”
“Wait.”
Hye-Joo quickly raised her hand to stop Seung-Won’s words; whatever came out of his mouth would not be good.
‘I have a man to confess to, so I prepared a gift for him, but I spilled it in the hideout, and I’ll just have to nail it firmly, making sure it’s not you or your brother.’
It’s a lame excuse, but it’s the best I can do for now. I’d barely gotten the words out of my mouth when I quickly organized my thoughts.
“Oh, Hye-ji, what are you doing here?”
The elevator doors opened and Kang Joo-won stepped out. He was dressed in a suit. He was handsome enough to make most women swoon, but the smile on his face was as wicked as it got.
“Did you come for me?”
A dark shadow fell over my head as he stood behind me. My breath caught in my throat as I was sandwiched between two burly men through the open front door.
“Let’s see. Don’t we have something to talk about?”
“You have something to return. Did you bring it?”
“Yes.”
“You didn’t touch it, did you?”
He’s really pushing this.
Snapped. Hye-Joo clenched her molars.
“I don’t even want to touch it with my foot, so I brought a bag. Can we move somewhere quiet?”
“Follow me.”
Kang smirked and shook his head.
He was playful, as if he was toying with a cornered mouse.
*
“Does that make you feel cool?”
As soon as we were out of the building, I burst out with anger.
“Are you out of your mind to call the police over something as simple? What a waste of time! These panties, they’re dirty and no one wants to have them!”
Hye-joo crumpled up the black bag and threw it at Kang Joo-won’s face. It was an ambitious punch, expecting to see his face crumpled into a ball, but it failed miserably.
Oops!
He caught the bag with one hand, right in the middle of his face. He tosses it into a nearby trash can without checking its contents.
“You’ve found it, so that’s it.”
Ha, you’re really trying me.
You called the police like it was a big deal, and now you’re going to throw it in the trash? If you were trying to insult me, you succeeded, and if you were trying to provoke me, you hit the nail on the head.
“Where are you going, just wait right there!”
Hye-Joo was so angry, She stuck her hand directly into the trash can. Then she grabbed the black plastic bag from the trash and shoved it in front of Kang Joo-won’s face.
“Take it and wear it.”
Kang Joo-won frowned and pushed Hye-joo’s hand away.
“Why should I?”
“Isn’t it important to you that you went to all that trouble to find it, even calling the police, so you can keep it?”
“Yes, it’s important, but I know you did something to my underwear.”
“Hey, Kang Joo-won!”
Kang turned around, as if there was no reason to listen. Hye-Joo squeezed the plastic bag tightly.
“Stop right there!”
He shook it. He turned around and waved goodbye, his hand flimsy.
“Hey, Kang Joo-won, you bastard!”
After several calls, he stopped at the last word, his eyes chillingly cold.
“Did you ……?”
“Apologize.”
“Apologize for what?”
“If you had asked me to get give to Kang Seung-won, I would have given them back gracefully. If you were offended, I could have compensated you with new underwear! You’re calling the police over something like this!”
“You broke into my house without permission, you saw me naked, and as a bonus, you stole my underwear. Is there anything untrue here?”
“You must be some kind of celebrity. Do you have an axe to grind? Are you saying that because I like you, I snuck into your house and stole your panties?”
“The girl that confessed to me ten years ago just happened to be brake down at my house and stole the underwear I was wearing. That’s how I interpret it.”
Am I wrong?
“How many times do I have to tell you, I didn’t steal your panties, I went to get something from your house and you came out of the bathroom all of a sudden, and I freaked out and fell asleep, and when I picked up the thing I dropped, I accidentally took your underwear with me……!”
“Why did it have to be about confessing a thousand-year-old unrequited love?”
Ha ha. Here we go again.
This situation won’t end unless I give an honest explanation about what was in my pocket that day.
Hye-Joo finds no more reason to hide it.
“That was a present for Seungwon.”
“Haha, where did that come from…….”
“Ten years ago, you would have gotten Seung-won for that one too.”
Her eyes, filled with determination, looked straight at Kang Joo-won.
“It’s not you, it’s Kang Seung-won, do you understand?”
I can’t help it, it’s not like he’s going to know what’s going on if I tell him. I don’t care if he knows.
?
Joo-won was speechless for a moment.
t was then that Seung-won could be seen over his broad shoulder. He was looking this way through a glass door. Hye-joo’s heart skipped a beat at the look on her worried expression.
“You didn’t just overhear the conversation, did you?
Hye-Joo added hastily, dropping her gaze.
“Please don’t tell Kang Seung-won. Please.”
Joo-won seemed to have guessed who was behind Hye-Joo, from the look of her flared earlobes. He curled the corner of his mouth dryly.
“You’re going to be responsible for your words now.”
Soon afterward, she heard Seung-won opening the glass door. Hye-Joo ran out of the room.
* Hye-Joo went back home, Joo-won headed straight for the bathroom. The back of his hands were covered in sticky dirt from the plastic bags he’d taken out of the trash earlier.
“So dirty, man.”
He grimaced and washed his hands vigorously.
The more he thought about it, the more he hated it. Breaking and entering, stealing panties, and then coming home and throwing them in my face like I’ve done something bad.
Luckily, since he’s my brother’s friend, so I just had to called the police, but if she was a stranger, I’d have given her the side of carrying her face around the neighborhood.
Besides, what? You like Kang Seung-won?
“This place smells drugs. It doesn’t even make sense.”
He clearly remembered Pepero Day 10 years ago. A pepero as tall as the man she was holding with trembling hands, her hair drenched in sweat no matter how nervous she was… … .
-This is for you.
Her voice trembled like a goat’s and earlobes burning.
It was an emotion that never came out of my mouth unless it was in front of someone I liked. We’d seen each other in the neighborhood and said hello a few times, but we’d never had a real conversation.
I had become immune to sudden confessions, so I didn’t panic too much, but I was still surprised that I still had feelings for her until now.
“It’s not me, it’s Seung-won? She’s sitting down eating dog grass.”
Joo-won didn’t even listen to Hye-joo’s heartfelt confession. Common sense, it didn’t make sense for her to like Seung-won.
If she really had feelings for him, what had she been doing for ten years? That was a long time for her to have had at least a hundred opportunities to confess, and the fact that she had done it twice, when she had never done it before, was proof enough.
“You must have been pretty embarrassed, seeing as how you’re backing out now.”
Joo-won smiled and began to wash his hands.
That’s when he heard the door slam open.
“Why.”
Joo-won muttered in annoyance without turning around.
“Let’s talk for a minute.”
“What is it?”
Seung-won took a step closer to him, not caring about by his reaction.
“I unintentionally overheard you and Hye-joo talking, and said something weird.”
“What are you talking about?”
There was tension in Joo-won’s voice as he asked the question.
Had he overheard them talking about Oh Hye-joo liking him?
