Not Sober - Chapter 3. Part 1
Chapter 3. Part 1
When Jenna arrived at the house, she was amazed. She had heard rumors about the house before, but she never imagined it would be so nice.
‘Wow, this is unbelievable… I can see the Han River from here,’ she thought, looking out of the living room window.
“What would you like to drink?” Sung-chan asked.
Unlike the day before, when Jenna had been eager for a drink as soon as they arrived at the hotel, she seemed more reserved today.
“Oh, I’m okay,” Jenna replied.
“I’ll get you something to eat, and you can have juice,” Sung-chan offered.
The relationship between them was still one-sided.
Jenna was confused by Sung-chan’s random mention of food. She couldn’t understand why he was talking about food all the time. Still, she seemed satisfied, humming as he disappeared into the kitchen.
‘I can’t figure him out,’ Jenna thought to herself. ‘One minute he’s nice, the next he’s acting like a jerk. How can someone be so reckless and careless?’
Sipping the orange juice he handed her, Jenna grew bored of sitting in the living room. Not knowing what else to do in someone else’s house, she refrained from wandering around. Instead, she looked around and took in the atmosphere of Sung-chan’s home. As rumored, he seemed to live alone.
‘He doesn’t have much besides his belongings,’ Jenna observed.
She couldn’t help but wonder what it must be like to live alone in such a spacious house. As someone who was used to living with others, Jenna found it hard to imagine.
Jenna found herself imagining what it must be like to live in Sung-chan’s house. It seemed like a dream for someone who was independent and self-sufficient. Living in a house with a view of the Han River was something she deeply envied.
‘I wish I could live in a place like this,’ Jenna murmured to herself. Just then, Sung-chan popped her head out of the kitchen, where he had been busy for a while.
“Feeling bored?” he asked.
“What? Oh, no, I’m fine,” Jenna replied.
“Wait a minute, I’m almost done,” Sung-chan said before going back into the kitchen.
Leaning back on the comfortable sofa, Jenna realized that she wasn’t really hungry.
All Jenna could wonder was, ‘How much does a sofa like this cost?’
“What kind of job do parents have to afford all this for their kids?”
She tried to push the thoughts aside, but they kept nagging at her. She was genuinely curious.
While waiting for Sung-chan, she noticed his phone vibrating on the living room table. Jenna picked it up, intending to give it to him, but she hesitated when she saw the name displayed on the screen.
[Stepmother]
Not her mother, not her mom, but his stepmother. Feeling like she had intruded on someone else’s family history unintentionally, Jenna returned to the couch and started playing with her phone.
“It’s ready, come here,” Sung-chan called out.
“Yes, Seo, senior!”
“You can’t keep calling me that forever.”
Ignoring the comment, Jenna hurried to the table and took a seat.
He had offered to make her something to eat, but she hadn’t expected much.
Her eyes widened at the sight of the food laid out before her, presented in a way that made her thighs tremble.
“Wow, that’s a lot of food,” Jenna remarked.
“What, are you keeping count?” Sung-chan retorted.
“No, who’s counting? Anyway, you’re not one for a nice talk,” Jenna replied.
She must have been right because the table was set with beef soup, rice, and seafood noodles.
“The menu is quite diverse,” Jenna observed, glancing at him.
“Did you prepare all of this?” she asked, surprised.
“Why? Is it surprising?” he responded, raising an eyebrow and looking at Jenna quizzically.
“Oh, I thought you were a bit… unfamiliar with cooking or something,” Jenna remarked.
Sung-chan looked like a rich old man, as if he’d never even touched the water with his hands.
“Forget it. Just eat,” he replied.
“I will,” Jenna said, taking a spoonful of the soup cautiously.
“He made it with his soul, but will it taste good? It should be delicious…” she thought anxiously.
After tasting it, Jenna’s eyes widened in surprise. “Wow, this is amazing. This is so good! You made this?” she exclaimed, eagerly scooping up more spoonfuls.
Seeing Jenna’s reaction, Sung-chan couldn’t help but smile smugly.
“I’m a good cook,” Sung-chan said with a hint of pride.
“Oh, I’m totally surprised,” Jenna replied, smiling happily as she enjoyed the beef in the soup.
“I’m not kidding, it was delicious,” she added, impressed by the taste.
Sung-chan looked at her proudly and remarked, “Come back often. I’ll cook for you.”
Although he said it lightly, Jenna sensed he meant it. However, she didn’t react as she had before.
“Jenna, you don’t know what you’re talking about. Do you realize how many girls want to come to my house?” Sung-chan said, half-jokingly.
“Aha, I see,” Jenna responded, understanding his point.
Jenna listened casually as Sung-chan continued his rambling. None of his words mattered much to her; she was focused on enjoying the delicious food in front of her.
“Do you think I feed just anyone?” Sung-chan suddenly snapped, breaking Jenna’s concentration.
Jenna stopped spooning and looked at him intently. “Then who are you doing it for?” she asked, her eyes narrowing with intensity.
At this point, Jenna began to wonder why Sung-chan was acting this way. But Sung-chan, confused and unable to give a clear answer, could only mumble.
“Who do you mean?” Jenna pressed for clarification. But Sung-chan could only stammer his answer.
Jenna asked Sung-chan again, but he continued to stammer like a fool. Perplexed, Jenna repeated her question, hoping for a clear answer.
“Do you genuinely like me?” she asked again.
Sung-chan’s response was less than satisfactory. “Like you? Seriously?”
Frustrated by his lack of clarity, Jenna thought to herself, ‘What are we even doing here?’ and returned her focus to her meal.
“He’s handsome, so people will overlook it,” she mused, referring to Sung-chan’s behavior.
Seeing the typically confident Sung-chan struggle made Jenna feel strangely confident, which she found somewhat satisfying.
‘What if an unattractive man acted like this?’ She pondered; she shuddered at the thought and made a face in disgust.
Having finished her meal, Jenna patted her stomach contentedly as she settled down on the couch.
“Ah, now that you’ve eaten, you want to have s*x?”
But she was drunk, full, and tired, so sleep poured out of her, and she dozed off on someone else’s couch.
“Hey, Min Jenna.”
A deep, bassy voice whispered in her ear as she dozed off. Jenna wiped the corner of her mouth and sat up quickly.
“Oh, yeah. Oh, we should have s*x.”
“Hey, don’t lie down right after eating. It’s not good for your stomach,” he advised, handing Jenna something.
“What’s this?” she asked.
“An enzyme,” he replied.
“Enzyme…?”
“Never mind, it’s good for you. Just take it,” he insisted.
That was the last thing Jenna remembered before falling asleep. He had given her a sachet of powder, and it tasted like nothing.
When she woke up again, it was morning.
She found herself lying on a spacious, luxurious bed.
Jenna sat up abruptly and looked around. She noticed him curled up in a corner of the bed, sleeping in a tight ball. It seemed he had stretched out to make room for her.
“Uh, did we have s*x last night?
