Not Sober - Chapter 2. Part 4
Chapter 2. Part 4
Throughout the lecture, Jenna couldn’t focus on the professor’s voice. Her mind kept drifting back to that one unforgettable day.
Her thoughts spiraled into delusions. This was especially triggered by the sight of a handsome man passing by.
Each passing thought only intensified her longing, causing her to feel a dampness between her legs. She vividly remembered their encounter, but couldn’t shake off the memory of his aversion to anything dirty.
Deep down, she didn’t want to go through it again. Although she remembered the moment of ecstasy, she found it dull.
She couldn’t shake the thought that he had undergone a vasectomy because of his obsession with s*x.
As Jenna wandered around campus during a break in the rain after her lecture, she pondered the idea of asking her friends to set her up with a guy.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a message from her mom. She quickly stashed it away in her pocket, unwilling to read it.
From that day on, her parents sent her threatening messages, warning of consequences if she didn’t return home.
Jenna remained firm in her decision not to give in to their demands, despite their attempts to force her to do so.
She was determined to stand her ground. She wanted her parents to accept her independence. As she walked alone, a familiar voice called out her name: “Min Jenna!”
Jenna was taken by surprise when she heard a familiar, deep voice calling her name. Jenna was surprised to see Baek Sung-chan, her senior, standing there.
She often saw him on campus, but today she felt uneasy. She couldn’t shake the feeling that she had done something wrong, and she was worried that someone might notice their interaction.
Jenna felt like she was treading on thin ice because of their previous encounter. The situation felt surreal to her as they exchanged greetings in a public setting.
Jenna panicked and remembered something Sung-chan had said before.
“Don’t pretend to be friendly with me just because we’ve f*cked once.”
“I hate lousy people the most in the world.”
Sung-chan’s words echoed in Jenna’s mind, leaving her uneasy. Unsure of how to respond, she gave him a brief nod and quickly moved away, avoiding further interaction.
She walked away, still thinking about his question. She wondered why he accused her of pretending to know him.
Jenna continued on her way without looking back. She was determined to move on from their encounter.
To be honest, it is more accurate to say that she was not interested in a handsome man with whom she no longer wanted to have s*x with.
“Senior, let’s leave without getting involved or being criticized. I don’t want to have s*x anymore.”
There was no reason to pursue a relationship without any initial feelings of love.
“Uh, Jenna!”
Jenna stopped in her tracks when she heard a cheerful voice calling out to her, unlike the voice of the person she was avoiding.
It was Hyeri, a former classmate, who worked with her on a group project once. Hyeri is also her friend, who had her first s*x*al experience with a boyfriend who has small p*n*s, as small as lipstick.
“Oh, Hyeri, are you hitting the books too?”
“No, I’m going out for drinks after class. Do you want to come along?”
Hyeri invited Jenna to join her for some evening fun. The invitation was casual in tone.
“Hmm, it’s still daytime, and you’re already planning a night out?”
“I wasn’t originally planning on it, but the gymnastics crew invited me. Want to join? It’s usually a lively crowd!”
Jenna hesitated to join at first but then paused to reconsider.
“Gymnastics is quite an event. The athletes must be in great shape, right?”
Following her experience with Sung-chan, Jenna understood the attraction of a handsome man. With a brief pause, she decided that her less important liberal arts class could wait and instead wrapped her arm around Hye-ri’s.
“Are you sure I can join you?”
“Yeah, I don’t know many guys either, so it’s kind of embarrassing. Let’s go!”
If s*x with a handsome man was good, she could go on a journey to find another one. Where was the only handsome man in the world?
“He was handsome, but he was too much of a prince.”
With that thought, Jenna walked with Hye-ri.
She thought it would be a good life experience to try out different handsome men.
*
The day after spending the night with Jenna, he checked out of the hotel alone. He felt dirty.
‘Why do I feel so dirty?’
Was it because she left so abruptly, without even staying for breakfast? Or was it the absurdity of her farewell, thanking him for the s*x?
Yes, it must have been the farewell itself.
Those words were uttered with a 90-degree bow.
“Thank you for the s*x.”
He thought it was ridiculous to consider Jenna’s leaving as just a one-night stand.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt a sense of disbelief and shame, emotions he had never experienced before.
Jenna left the hotel and noticed an unusually quiet atmosphere. She left without any regret, unlike others who often sought his presence.
The slight irritation continued after he returned home.
He stood alone in his apartment’s living room with a view. Despite his luxurious surroundings, he couldn’t shake the feeling of being in a sewer surrounded by rats.
“What the f*ck is this?”
It was irritating. He vigorously scratched his head, but the itch persisted. It seemed like a small fly had become stuck in his brain.
“Forget it; don’t pay attention to it.”
Ignore it. Ignore it. It’s not a big deal. She’s not someone he’s going to get back with, and he’s just going to go on with his life and think he had a good f*ck, right?
He had difficulty understanding the situation, which was unusually challenging. He nervously chewed on his fingernails, which was uncharacteristic of him, unable to shake his thoughts of Jenna.
Alone in his living room, he walked frantically back and forth.
He eventually admitted his defeat and decided to call someone.
-“Hey Sung-chan, why did you call first? What’s happening?”
It was one of his classmates who was actively involved in the department’s activities, unlike Sung-chan, who often spent his time drinking and fooling around.
“Oh, it’s nothing. Jihwan, have you ever…”
The words didn’t come easily, even after he’d made the call. Eventually, he sighed in frustration and continued.
“Isn’t there a girl in our class named Min Jenna?”
-” Min Jenna?”
“Uh, you don’t know her?”
-” I know her; why? She’s famous in the department, Cinderella of 8 o’clock.”
“Cinderella from 8:00 pm?”
“What kind of stupid nickname is that?” He scowled and fell onto the couch.
-” Ah, her parents are strict, and she has an 8 pm curfew, so I have never been caught drinking with her. What else do you want to know?”
‘What? A strict family with an 8 o’clock curfew? That’s not funny. And then she asks me to sleep with her?’
Jihwan giggled when he didn’t answer and asked,
-“Why is she so angry this time?”
-” Why are you glaring at her now? Sung-chan, she’s off-limits.
“What are you talking about? It’s not like that.”
