My Strange Savior - Chapter 85
Chapter 85
Gia puckered her lips and gently patted Rey’s chest as he slept with his lips slightly parted.
The child cried for a while, clearly startled by something.
Despite it being early evening, Rey, having eaten as Gia wished, fell asleep as if collapsing. Of course, sleeping with Gia’s hair tightly grasped was enough to cause pain if mentioned.
Her fault, well. Gia blamed herself.
Looking at the repaired bathroom door fixed by the servant earlier in the day, Gia sighed. The door that had been in tatters until a while ago was now hanging properly. It was Kalion who, as if he couldn’t breathe, rushed over and tore the door apart.
Gia pursed her lips in apology.
Those who became enhanced humans were all experiencing side effects. The special pain Gia was going through was not unique to her. It was a pain too commonplace to share with anyone, something that might be treated as an exaggeration.
However, Kalion behaved as if he could do anything to alleviate Gia’s pain, worrying about her.
As if he would take on the pain for her…
In that gaze, Gia’s heart kept pounding.
‘Ah… What is this? Is my heart broken?’
Nausea hit her like being on a boat in turbulent waves. Gia raised her palm over her throbbing chest.
Perhaps she had delayed taking the medication. Otherwise, her heart wouldn’t be pounding like this.
Thump, thump.
The sound of her heart pounding, as if it had gone crazy, echoed in her ears without regard for maintaining a steady pulse rate.
Closing her eyes, Gia vigorously shook her head to dispel Kalion’s thoughts, but his persistent face stuck to her mind.
Even with her eyes closed, she felt the illusion of Kalion’s worry-filled, wet face looking at her.
‘Sexy, though.’
Thinking of Kalion’s wet face that seemed to have emerged from a torn-up magazine, Gia slapped herself until her forehead turned red.
‘Crazy……. shit.’
Gia abruptly stopped her hand at Rey’s fidgeting movement.
At the warm gaze filled with affection, Gia’s face blushed uncontrollably.
‘So, why the hell is he so good-looking for no reason?’
Blaming the handsome Kalion, Gia closed her eyes tightly for her own sake. Even with her eyes tightly closed, the wet Kalion seemed to flash in her mind.
‘Crazy, perverted Yu Gia. Die.’
Droplets of water fell rhythmically, spreading slowly across the screen like a slow-motion scene.
As Kalion’s white shirt got wet, the taut muscles filled with sensuality beneath were revealed.
Why this memory wouldn’t fade away? Gia abruptly kicked the blanket with her foot.
“Uh, uhh.”
Rey, who had just settled into bed, let out a groan as a gust of wind entered through the blanket. Gia quickly picked up the fallen blanket and carefully covered Rey, even up to his neck.
‘Oh, darn.’
It seems like Gia’s energy is about to skyrocket into space.
Gia, internally screaming, grabbed a handful of hair. Half of it was given to Rey, and the other half was clutched by Gia herself, creating a comical sight.
‘Yu Gia… Let’s go die.’
Why does her face turn red when she recalls Kalion’s face?
Thump, thump.
Gia, about to mutter in her vibrating heart, stopped herself, remembering Rey sleeping beside her.
Even if the heater was on, winter was inevitably cold. However, Gia felt as if her body was on fire as if she couldn’t sense the season.
Looking down at the shared blanket with Rey, Gia subtly removed her body.
Just thinking of Kalion’s name made her body feel hot.
‘No way… No, right?’
Suddenly struck by the realization, Gia whimpered.
‘Ugh… No way. It can’t be, right? Huh?’
Gia clenched her fist, denying her feelings for Kalion, even though she vaguely realized what those emotions were.
‘I-I don’t like him. I’m such a stupid kid, aren’t I?’
Thinking of admitting she liked Kalion made Gia’s face redder than a torch.
‘I… I am a stupid kid…’
Perplexed, Gia turned to lie on her side and stuffed the blanket into her mouth.
Having lost anyway to turn back, and with only four months’ worth of remaining treatment, Gia harbored such soft emotions in her heart.
Gia wanted to curse her stupidity. The days of feeling a fluttering sensation like a child while watching celebrities had long passed for her.
Could she afford to have such liking emotions in her situation? Even knowing that normal romance was an unattainable dream, Gia couldn’t control the suddenly emerging emotions, like a natural disaster.
A massive wave, taking the form of emotions, crashed over Gia’s body. In no time, the sky cleared, and lightning struck the dry sky. There was no escape. The lightning bolts surrounding Gia tore her body to pieces.
Just when she thought it was over, the ground she was barely standing on with both feet shook violently. Gia swayed without holding onto anything.
Unable to prepare for the abruptly rushing emotions, Gia had no choice but to endure them with her entire body. Blaming herself for her foolishness, Gia swallowed her tears.
After experiencing it all over her body, Gia became more certain about her feelings for Kalion.
‘It’s true… I do. I like him. Crazy woman.’
Without those emotions, there was no way Gia’s heart would beat like a crazy woman with flowers in her head every time Kalion came to mind. The emotion she first embraced shattered into pieces with realization.
‘Who does a soon-to-be zombie like me even like? Who am I trying to ruin?’
Tears welled up in Gia’s eyes as she silently screamed. Pitying the heart she lost without even starting.
‘Should I also like myself turning into a zombie?’
Of course not. She might not have hesitated to cut off her head, seeing herself as a monster. She wondered if she should be grateful for being able to meet her end in the hands of someone she liked. Suppressing the sadness, her eyes swallowed the fleeting emotions.
‘It’s an unnecessary emotion.’
Within the remaining four months, all she needed to do was capture Morrison and quietly disappear. Yet, for some reason, she found herself feeling unjust and angry. Tears streamed down her face.
The determination she had originally harbored to seek revenge against Morrison had vanished into thin air.
The girl who once carried the determination to avenge her father could no longer be found. In her place was a fresh-faced young girl who had just met a man she liked.
‘Is it okay to have a one-sided crush?’
If she couldn’t even harbor feelings for someone she liked on her own, it seemed too pitiful for her. Gia tightened the blanket, afraid her trembling lips would reveal her tears.
Liking someone like Kalion wasn’t an easy thing. She hadn’t expected things to turn out this way.
A girl not liking a guy like him was strange. So…so.
For the remaining time, she decided to like him quietly, even if she couldn’t hold that emotion alone.
* * *
Morning arrived, and Gia hadn’t slept all night due to her thoughts.
Lying lifelessly, she followed Rey with tired eyes.
“Sister, wake up.”
“Yeah… I need to get up.”
“Sis, this is the tenth time you’ve said that.”
“Oh, really?”
After realizing her liking emotions and feeling powerless, Gia stared blankly at Rey. Even though she had resolved to keep her feelings to herself, the unsorted emotions were running wild.
Gia bit her lip, exerted strength in her body, and then slumped back onto the bed.
“Sis!”
“Yeah? I’ll get up. I’ll get up.”
“Today feels strange…”
When Rey hesitated, Gia immediately sat up.
“Just tired, that’s all.”
“Really?”
“Yeah.”
Gia forced a smile to avoid worrying Rey, then got up with a sigh.
How would she face Kalion in the dining room?
The thoughts that continued throughout the night were all in vain. Thinking about meeting Kalion from the morning made Gia’s heart pound recklessly.
Was it really hidden just because she tried to hide it?
Gia, dragged to the dining room by Rey, was fascinated by Kalion’s wide and straight back, which was already seated. Suppressing her thoughts, she looked at Kalion who was sitting still, despite the delicious food prepared in front of him.
“Have you arrived?”
In response to her greeting, Kalion stood up to greet Gia and Rey.
“Oh… Uh, you’re early.”
“Yes.”
“Uh, your… hand?”
“It’s okay.”
Kalion raised the hand wrapped in bandages. Of all things, it was his right hand that was bitten.
Seeing Kalion’s right hand wrapped in bandages, Gia’s eyes showed a hint of apology.
“It’ll be okay in a few days.”
‘Why is he so kind and affectionate?’
Gia bit her lip tightly. Kalion, noticing the concern in Gia’s eyes, reassured her first.
Gia’s nose twitched at his warmth. It seemed challenging to hide her liking emotions.
“Where does it hurt?”
Kalion, realizing that Gia’s complexion was different from usual, approached her abruptly. Gia’s chest fluttered as their faces came close. What a dazzling morning it was.
Kalion’s palm gently touched Gia’s forehead. Even though Gia knew it was a gesture to check for a fever, her heart, beyond her control, raced.
“Sister was strange this morning!”
Rey was annoyingly straightforward, laying out Gia’s condition without hesitation. Despite Gia’s attempt to avoid it by shaking her head, Kalion’s persistent hand followed.
‘Don’t be so sweet.’
Gia’s face, which extended her lips to receive Kalion’s touch, turned bright red without reservation.
“It’s not going to work. You should see a physician.”
“No… I just couldn’t sleep well yesterday.”
Gia weakly replied. Dragging herself to the seat, Rey came over and sat beside her.
“Sis, are you not feeling well? Are you avoiding medicine because you don’t like it?”
“No, it’s just that I couldn’t sleep well yesterday. I’m tired, that’s all.”
Forcing a smile, Gia raised her fork.
Normally, she would have aggressively stuffed herself with food, but today, she had no appetite. Did her taste buds abandon her after breaking her liking emotions? The first taste of disappointment in her life took her appetite far away.
Kalion, who was concerned about Gia’s condition, sat across from her.
“Do you really not need to see a physician?”
“I’m healthy. I’m fine.”
Trying to reassure Kalion, Gia forcefully scooped up a spoonful.
‘It tastes so good.’
Why did the food taste delicious when her heart was in pain? Blaming her jaw joint and taste buds that automatically moved, Gia chewed and swallowed the food.
Kalion, who was observing Gia eating with a depressed expression, sat opposite her.
“Try this too.”
Knowing her usual taste, Kalion pushed the food towards Gia’s side.
“You too… eat.”
“I’m eating.”
“Rey, eat a lot too.”
“Yes…”
Both Rey and Kalion watched Gia closely as she ate with a melancholic expression.
