My Strange Savior - Chapter 120
Chapter 120
When she fidgets her buttocks with an uneasy look in her eyes, he can’t help but want to wrap her up and hug her.
Suppressing that feeling forcibly, Kalion could only stare at the teacup.
He made tremendous efforts to contort his expression like an angry person and consciously avoid thinking about Gia. If he didn’t, his body would naturally turn towards Gia’s scent wafting from the side.
Even if one hides their relationship, can it be concealed? Unable to hide his heart filled with love, he eventually brought it up.
While Kalion was deeply contemplating how to hide his fragrant emotions, Gia’s footsteps were refreshingly light, seemingly oblivious to it all.
Gia’s emotions permeated every step she took, representing the resolution in her heart after ending the engagement. Her once-heavy steps that seemed like they would shatter the ground in the morning now felt light and almost airborne.
Unable to contain his laughter at the cuteness of his lover, Kalion followed behind as if guarding her.
“Gregory asked to visit today.”
“Gregory? Didn’t he say he’s at the palace?”
Gia turned towards Kalion with a casual attitude. The bright sun illuminated Gia’s face, wearing a radiant smile. Seeing Gia’s face, Kalion’s resistance melted away.
“Let’s go! By the way, did he make the ammunition?”
Gia asked various questions with curiosity. Kalion’s gaze, responding to his lover’s inquiries, still contained only one thing. Kalion’s face softened without resistance at the smiling lover’s face, shining like sunlight.
“Well, I don’t know.”
“I hope he made it. It would be reassuring to have something, even if it’s just that.”
“Oh, do you have weapons in mind for the hunting competition?”
“Well… I don’t have anything. I guess I’ll have to use a bow or a sword?”
Even if there were bullets for the pistol, it wasn’t suitable for hunting. The sniper rifle had already fallen into the valley, leaving Gia with no weapons.
“I see. Do you know how to handle a bow?”
“If you teach me, I will.”
“Yes. I will teach you everything.”
“Yeah. Oh, there’s Gregory.”
As they left the palace, Gregory was standing in front of it, perhaps waiting for them.
“Gregory!”
Gia ran towards Gregory with a bright smile. As if he’d been waiting for her, Gregory ducked his head toward the jumping doll.
“It’s been a while.”
“Yeah, it has. Have you been eating well? You seem thinner.”
As Gia walked around Gregory, she raised her eyebrows.
“Yes, I’m eating well.”
“Hmm. Didn’t I tell you last time? You have to eat well and sleep well, right?”
Gia scolded Gregory like a child, tapping her index finger. Blushing, Gregory turned his body away.
“Stop it.”
“Uh, I was just saying what the…”
“Let’s go, Gia.”
“Yeah.”
Realizing Gregory’s discomfort and attempting to escape the awkward situation, Gia heeded Kalion’s words and moved away. Gia, who had intended to catch Gregory and deliver a sermon, understood and shifted her steps. She glanced worriedly at Gregory’s thin shoulders as he walked ahead.
“Are you eating well?”
“Yes.”
“Be careful not to get sick from neglecting your body.”
“I am eating well.”
“Okay, got it.”
Acknowledging Gregory’s innocent reply, Gia bit her tongue. Turning to Kalion, who was watching, she playfully stuck out her tongue.
“How about that? Quite the older sister, right?”
“Yes.”
The man, who seemed to only respond positively to everything Gia said, was playing along. Gregory, feeling a bit overwhelmed by the sweetness of the couple beyond the limit, shook his head and kicked his foot as if in protest.
“Come on in. I have something to show you.”
Following Gregory for quite some time, they passed through a lavishly adorned garden and left the splendid palace. In the end, a large house, reminiscent of a mansion rather than a palace, stood as if a mansion had been transplanted there.
“Is this the laboratory?”
“Yes. It’s the laboratory that the master used.”
Formidable guards were standing in front of it. After verifying Gregory’s identity, they allowed Gia and Kalion to enter. As they opened the massive doors and stepped inside, a large space came into view.
Inside, the remains of the dragon, which had been engaged in a fierce battle, were dismembered. The massive torso and head were suspended in the air by thick chains descending from the ceiling, while the other parts were laid out on a large table.
“Wow.”
Books and papers were scattered everywhere, and the chalkboard was filled with words unfamiliar to Gia.
“You must have worked hard.”
“Not really.”
Gregory, passing by casually as if accustomed to the dragon’s corpse, climbed the stairs. Kalion, following behind, stopped when passing the dragon’s head.
The head, as large as his torso, was silent. Kalion, remembering how sharp its teeth were, clenched his fist.
Images of his comrades being killed by the dragon flashed in Kalion’s mind. Unable to scream, their lives were extinguished as the dragon’s sharp claws pierced them. The emotions of that time lingered on Kalion’s shoulders—fear and anger slowly emerging, squeezing his throat. Just surviving made him feel like a sinner.
Even though he knew the dragon was dead, his legs remained motionless, as if frozen. Until now, he hadn’t bothered to examine the dragon’s corpse separately, but now, facing it directly, the cries of his comrades still echoed in his heart.
“Kalion.”
It was Gia who awakened Kalion from his trance. Gia’s small hand covered Kalion’s hand.
“It’s okay.”
With no one around, Gia boldly held Kalion’s hand and pulled his large body close. Gently comforting, she whispered that everything was okay.
“Take it easy.”
Kalion didn’t even realize cold sweat was forming on his forehead. Gia, who had been soothingly caressing Kalion’s even forehead, lightly tapped his back.
“Let’s go.”
“Yes.”
Kalion, who could only manage a shy response, was led up the stairs by Gia as if being pulled along. Gia stood beside Kalion, pressing against him.
There were no words of comfort, but for Kalion, it was enough. Gia herself was a comfort to him.
“Please come in.”
Upon opening another set of doors, documents scattered in all directions became visible. Gregory hurriedly entered and cleared a space.
“Would you like some tea?”
In this austere place, it seemed unlikely. Gia smiled hesitantly and shook her head.
“It’s okay. I ate a lot.”
“Alright then. Can we get straight to the point?”
“Yes. Do it the way you’re comfortable.”
With Gia’s approval, Gregory moved quickly and carefully brought a book.
“Do you happen to know what this is?”
“Uh… this?”
Gia’s mouth fell open in surprise at the familiar appearance. Her eyes widened as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Kalion, bowing his head with her, looked at what Gia was inspecting.
“What is this?”
Even when Kalion asked, Gia only let out a suppressed moan, unable to comprehend what she was seeing.
“Wh-where did this come from?”
Gia, unusually flustered, stood up and stared at Gregory. Behind his glasses, his eyes scrutinized Gia for a long time.
“It was in the master’s research materials.”
“H-how is this possible…? This…?”
After glancing at the book, Gia’s eyes shook violently as she looked back at Gregory. Concerned about Gia’s unusual reaction, Kalion cautiously placed his hand on Gia’s shoulder.
“T-this can’t be… How can this happen?”
Still unable to believe it, Gia trembled and collapsed onto the sofa next to the table where the book was placed.
“Gia…”
At Kalion’s gentle call, Gia exhaled a relieved sigh and lowered her head deeply. Then, as if something occurred to her, she rotated the watch on her wrist. As it was an unfamiliar object for Gregory, he was curious about Gia’s actions.
“I had a feeling… something was off.”
Drip, drip.
As she turned the dial on her wrist, light entered. While Kalion remained calm, having seen it before, Gregory was astonished as he witnessed this phenomenon for the first time.
“Is this possible?”
“It is possible… but this seems impossible.”
Having uttered an incomprehensible sound, Gia turned the dial again, and a dense warning message appeared.
[Warning! Satellite transmission is not in good condition. Updating changed terrain. 70%]
Suddenly, the changed display on the watch made Gregory look at Gia with a startled expression. It was a look demanding an explanation, but Gia, seemingly with no time to spare, hastily turned the dial.
Drip, drip.
After a few manipulations, light emerged, projecting a small map into the air. Gregory, encountering advanced science for the first time, could only gape at the otherworldly object.
“This is insane… the satellite… so that’s why…”
Gia’s voice, faltering as she sporadically explained, trembled. Gia, who had been absentmindedly holding the book, slumped onto the sofa.
“Is this…?”
“Yes.”
Even Kalion, who had been silently listening to Gia’s words, and Gregory, who had marveled at the item on her wrist, couldn’t help but be astonished at the revelation that burst out from behind Gia.
“I think this is where I originally lived.”
* * *
Gia, holding the book close to her chest, sat in the carriage, lost in deep thought.
Originally lived world. Time warp instead of dimensional travel. Gia, unable to believe the astonishing fact, clenched her bangs tightly in her hand.
“Gia…”
Despite the concerned gaze of Kalion sitting in front of her, Gia couldn’t seem to pull herself together.
“Does this make any sense…?”
Even after seeing and confirming it with her own eyes, Gia found it unbelievable and repeatedly flipped through the book. Inside, detailed drawings of the entrance and symbols of the shelter where Gia had lived before were depicted.
“This is just unbelievable… the fact that I’ve leaped through time…”
It was not unreasonable for Gia to think that way. Initially, she should have doubted the functioning of the satellite. Naturally, she assumed it was a malfunction. But it wasn’t a malfunction. In frustration at her foolishness, Gia wiped her forehead.
“So… Gia, are you someone from the past?”
“Yeah. It seems that way.”
Regardless of what Morrison had developed, the hole that appeared at that time indicated a device distorting space-time.
Although Morrison had tried to create a device for long-distance travel, he had discovered something even more extraordinary.
