My Strange Savior - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
It seems like an unusual situation where Kalion bit his lips in a strangely reluctant manner. He was well past the age and not the type to act like this. Kalion had never once pointed out someone’s mistake in his entire life.
But looking at Gia, who was willing to get angry and seek revenge in his place, Kalion couldn’t help but feel a strange satisfaction. He quickly covered the guilty smile that was forming on his lips with his hand.
“Since you’ve made his face like this, I should hit you too.”
Thud.
A surprisingly dull sound flowed from the punch, almost unbelievable that it was just a woman’s punch. The blood running down the corner of his mouth was far from ordinary.
“Ptuh.”
As the man who had been knocked out spat out the blood that had filled his mouth onto the ground, a set of white teeth fell alongside it.
“Ugh…”
Staring at the man who couldn’t speak properly due to his surprise, Gia took a step closer, her strides confident.
“That’s why.”
Thud.
“Why hit a kid?”
With one more clean finisher, the man fell flat on the ground.
“I haven’t hit him enough yet. You… Hey, don’t close your eyes, okay? You. Come out. This guy.”
Leaving the leader who had been knocked out in one punch, Gia called out, lightly tapping the trembling man behind her with her finger.
“Did you do something wrong, or not?”
“I did something wrong!”
The beaten man, seeing the other comrades who had been hit before him, answered with vigor.
“Why rob innocent people of their money and act like a lunatic, huh? A lunatic! Huh? Without even thinking about making an honest living?”
“I’m sorry! I’m sorry!”
“I’m sorry?”
“Yes! I’m sorry!”
The man, who had been shouting with all his might, looked at Gia’s determined fist.
Is it his turn soon? Even though he swallowed his saliva, the tension was unbearable, and his eyes blinked without rest.
“Well, then, I have to hit you, right?”
Thud.
With a light punch, the man’s face turned abruptly, and the flesh on his cheek jiggled. As he fell unconscious, Gia, who had been nudging the man’s legs, swept her hair to the side.
“In your world, there’s no order or law?”
Kalion, who had intended to handle things according to imperial law, frowned at the scene that had unfolded.
“Talking about order in a world that’s already gone to ruin… Oh, there is.”
“What is it?”
“This.”
With a cheerful smile, Gia confidently waved her fist. Kalion closed and opened his eyes as if wondering if there was anything else to say.
Without the need for further words, Kalion took a step towards Gia.
“Hey, wait!”
Without responding, Kalion walked ahead. Gia, looking at the man lying on the ground, kicked him.
“Do you know you’ve been knocked out? It would be better to get up when spoken to nicely.”
The man who had regained consciousness shortly after being hit by Kalion quickly got up from the ground.
“Yes!”
“Hand it over.”
The man, seeing the tiny and cute palm stained with blood, hesitated before asking.
“W-what are you talking about?”
“Give me everything you’ve got.”
The man’s lips dried up as he looked at Gia’s sly smile.
‘Oh, Mom…’
Is this the kind of smile that angels make?
Seeing this woman’s laughter automatically made you look for your mother, it felt like something was getting damp between his legs.
* * *
“Look at this thick wad.”
“You… hah…”
After parting ways with the thugs and patting her plump pocket, Kalion glanced at the satisfied smile on Gia’s face.
Rey, who had been holding Gia’s hand, tilted his head in curiosity.
“Sis, what’s that?”
“Oh? This. It’s like money we can use to buy delicious things, Rey.”
“Where did that suddenly come from?”
Rey, with wide-open eyes, asked with an adorable expression, making Gia lift the corner of her mouth.
“Yeah. It just came from somewhere suddenly. People who do good deeds naturally find… not rice cakes, but bread.”
“Wow… I see…”
“So, Rey, if you ever see someone in need around you, make sure to help them, okay?”
“Yes, sis!”
Sparkling.
Kalion looked at Gia, who nodded with satisfaction as if looking at a wise person.
‘Brazen, too… If it’s at this level, is it a talent?’
Kalion sighed inwardly as he looked at Gia, who was casually lying.
He hadn’t known this woman for long, but every time he looked at her, it felt like his lifespan was decreasing by minutes along with his sighs.
Knowing that common sense wouldn’t work with Gia, Kalion clenched his lips, realizing that it would be futile to say anything to her.
“Oh, there’s the gate.”
Gia said as she spotted the gate that became visible shortly after they thought there were quite a few people around.
Without any identification or permission, Gia confidently stepped forward, and Kalion, carrying a large load on his back, held Rey’s hand and followed her.
Watching Gia’s back as she ran out, Kalion swallowed another sigh.
‘No identification or permission…’
She, a foreigner with nothing to her name, held Rey’s hand and ran off with such carefree enthusiasm that Kalion lowered his hand.
“Identification?”
A security guard’s voice came through as Gia, who seemed to be causing trouble wherever she went, wrestled with them.
“You need to show your identification to enter.”
Gia, annoyed by the guard’s irritating face as he asked if she didn’t know that, pursed her lips.
A typical government worker’s face.
Gia, who had suddenly landed in this world, certainly didn’t have something like identification.
Deciding to use Kalion’s chance, Gia raised her hand high with Rey.
“Kal!”
“Sir Knight!”
“Over here! Come here for a moment! Do you have an identification?”
Seeing them both calling with innocent smiles, Kalion ran his hand through his hair, expecting this.
As he approached, a lecture followed about why they were causing such a fuss.
“Hurry up. You’re not even that old…….”
“Are you with this group?”
“Yes.”
“Please show your identification or pass.”
There was no way Kalion, who barely survived thanks to Gia, had such a thing. But he did have something that could.
As Kalion walked, the tattered robe he was wearing revealed a shining silver suit of armor inside. When the guard saw the crimson flame emblem drawn near the left heart, his eyes widened.
“Oh, the Order of Knights…”
“I am Kalion Bowers, First Knight of the Empire also the commander of the Order of Knights. I vouch for both of their identities. Open the gate and guide us to the Lord.”
“Yes, understood.”
The official, who had a bored expression while dealing with various complaints from the locals, eagerly opened the gate when he saw Kalion’s armor, shivering.
“Oh…”
Certainly, the caste system was different no matter where you went. As Gia followed Kalion inside, she glanced at the emblem on his chest.
Her relentless gaze made Kalion let out a quiet sigh.
“Why are you so curious again…”
The intense gaze from those curious eyes seemed to suffocate Kalion.
‘I understand that it’s fascinating, but…’
Under the persistent scrutiny, Kalion unconsciously raised his hand to cover his chest.
‘Your eyes… your gaze is strange…’
“What’s that? If you have armor with that emblem, you get a free pass?”
“What’s a free pass?”
“It means you can pass through everything.”
“Yes, the symbol that only the Empire’s Order of Knights, personally decreed by the Emperor, can possess…”
“Can I borrow Kalion’s armor then?”
In response to the straightforward question, Kalion instinctively rubbed his forehead with his fingers.
“Well… I said it can only be held by the Order of Knights. Impersonation is a serious crime.”
“Then can anyone apply to join the Order of Knights?”
“Why do you even need to know this?”
“No… I just don’t want to give it away if I don’t have to.”
“It’s not about not wanting to give it away… Well… Why do you even need to know?”
As Kalion mixed up his words, he stopped walking due to the increasing exhaustion. Even the guard who had been guiding Kalion before was now listening to their conversation.
“No, there might be a situation where I can’t accompany you anymore. What if something happens? You never know with human affairs.”
“That won’t happen.”
Kalion, who couldn’t allow this woman to be with anyone else but him, ran his hand over his stubborn forehead.
“Just in case it does happen, our family will vouch for your identity, so don’t worry.”
Gia nodded in agreement to Kalion’s gentle words.
Well then, it’s good for her, right?
Gia, who was excited again by Kalion’s words, looked around the area where the scent of human life wafted through the air.
There were no worries or anxieties in people’s expressions, and they brimmed with vitality.
Since the world had ended, Gia had never seen people live like humans, so she turned her head around, looking curiously here and there.
“Oh!”
“What is it again?”
“That! What’s that?”
Gia, who looked at a small street vendor’s stall, couldn’t contain her excitement and moved her body first, dragging a helpless Rey along for the ride.
“Have you ever tried that?”
Gia asked, and Rey shook her head. Rey, who had never left the small village before, had sparkling eyes.
“It must be delicious.”
Drooling, Gia looked at the well-cooked street food and then glanced at Kalion.
“I want that.”
“Huh?”
“Buy it for me.”
With a wry smile, Kalion turned his large body to face two pairs of eyes that believed he would naturally buy it for them.
What is that…
It was a fantastic sight, with an unknown tail behind it spinning like a windmill without any heaving.
If he didn’t buy it, he felt like he would be the only bad guy.
“With the money you took earlier…”
“Hush.”
Though he didn’t feel like it, Kalion, who had been about to ask if it was okay to buy things with the money taken from the gangsters, stopped talking at the hush sound.
‘Oh well. The money I took!’
Gia pressed her lips tightly with her pincers at the unfamiliar words. It was taken, even though they only did it for justice and earned a reward.
And since she still didn’t know the currency value of this world, she couldn’t spend money recklessly.
“That’s my emergency fund.”
Seeing Gia confidently refer to it as her emergency fund, Kalion didn’t even want to respond.
Kalion turned to look at the guard standing there with a helpless expression as if he couldn’t help it.
“Do you have any money?”
“Yes? Y-yes…”
The guard, who found himself being duped by the second son of the Duke of Bowers, answered in surprise.
“I’ll repay the borrowed money quickly.”
At Kalion’s words, the guard’s wallet opened.
“Oh. Respect.”
He didn’t know what the word referred to, but he didn’t want to know.
Gia, who had bought various snacks with her hands full, seemed to be still lacking, so the rest was handed to Kalion.
“Hold onto this. I’ll eat it soon.”
Kalion locked eyes with the guard, who had been watching Gia consume food on the street in a perplexed manner.
Kalion’s eyebrows twitched as they both pretended not to have seen each other. The guard, whose name remained unknown, closed his half-empty wallet with a dejected look.
She had always been a woman who was far from common sense, but seeing her unabashedly enjoying skewers on the street made him suddenly feel like a dark cloud had gathered in front of him.
“Oh, it’s delicious. Rey, is it tasty?”
“Yes!”
“Do you want to try this too?”
Gia, who had quickly devoured what she was holding, extended an ice cream toward Rey, who accepted it with a smile. Was it something to be grateful for that the child who had lost his parents had a brighter face than expected?
Instead of urging the two who were enjoying their meal, Kalion waited with cotton candy in both hands, finding that the time spent on the street was not a waste.
