Inlaid With Jade - Chapter 51
Chapter 51
You are so fierce
Li Heming went home with a handful of cakes. Before he entered the yard, he heard the joyful noise inside. A thick layer of snow covered the branches of the vigorous plum tree and the red stamens and brown branches. It should have been a rare sight. However, when Li Heming walked through the lake, he saw that the branches of the plum tree over the wall were shaking, and the white snow was falling as if someone in the yard was holding a stick and knocking the snow off the tree.
Li Heming strode into the yard and saw Lin Yu standing under the tree in a winter coat, looking up at Wenzhu, who grabbed the branches and shook the snow.
A few thin snowflakes fell from the branches. Zelan lifted her clothes to hold them, rolled them into a ball, and gave them to Lin Yu. Holding a few small snowballs that froze her hands, Li Yu kneaded them into a palm-length strip, then said regretfully: “Oh, there is not enough snow. I can only knead half a tail.”
Perhaps because she had stayed in the snow for too long and it was freezing, her nose was muffled, and her voice sounded sticky when she spoke.
As she spoke, she looked down at the Third Brother, who was made of snow. It grinned happily and looked at the sky as if enjoying the snow. A red plum was on the tip of its nose, and its expression was vivid. It only needed half a standing tail.
The snow outside was deep, but the yard was clean and tidy without any snow. Li Heming frowned, looked at the bare walls around him, and then at ‘Third Brother’ lying on the ground as tall as Lin Yu’s knees. They, the master and servants, seemed to collect the snow in the yard and knead it into a dog.
On the tree, Wenzhu looked up at the leftover snow on the treetop and said regretfully: “There’s no more, Madam. The branches above are too fragile, and there is not much snow. I am afraid it will melt if it falls.” Then he jumped down from the tree. He clapped his hands, swept his clothes with his sleeves, looked at the snow in Lin Yu’s hand, and suggested: “If there is not enough snow, why not make a small tail for Third Brother.”
Zelan disagreed: “How can Third Brother only have a small tail? Besides, if the tail is small, it can’t stand up and will break. Why not wait for the snow to fall for another night and make a new one tomorrow morning.”
Lin Yu didn’t want Third Brother to have only a small tail. She stretched out her hand to catch the snow and worriedly said, “What if the snow stops tomorrow morning?”
The master and servants stood in the heavy snow, seriously discussing this trivial matter, and were so excited that they didn’t even hold an umbrella. Two oil-paper umbrellas were left aside. Li Heming was sharp-eyed and saw that Lin Yu’s hair was w*t with snow, and there was fallen snow on her hair. Her palms, exposed from the soft velvet sleeves, held the snowballs collected from the trees, revealing her frozen knuckles.
She didn’t care about her body to play with the snow.
The servant sweeping the snow water in the yard saw Li Heming’s face suddenly turn cold like frost and knitted his sword eyebrows. He shouted: “Lin Yu!”
Perhaps his tone was harsh, so when Lin Yu heard her full name, her heartbeat stagnated momentarily. She turned to look at Li Heming, who had been standing at the yard’s entrance for an unknown period. After seeing his face, unsure what she was afraid of, she immediately stuffed the snow in her hand into Zelan’s hand.
Lin Mansion strictly controlled Lin Yu before. She was not allowed to touch the cool rain at home, let alone play in the snow on a cold day in winter. When she woke up this morning and saw the yard full of snow, she was so excited that she wanted to build Third Brother. She thought Li Heming would not discipline her as strictly as her mother, father, and brother. But now, seeing his appearance, she felt she was wrong.
Li Heming walked towards her quickly with cakes in his hand, and Lin Yu hurriedly greeted him: “You are back? Are you hungry? Do you want the kitchen to make some food?”
She asked several questions in a row, but Li Heming didn’t answer. He only frowned and held Lin Yu’s red palm with his hand. He looked terrifying.
He wore thin clothes, and his body temperature was cold after walking in the snow for half a day. But he felt even colder after touching Lin Yu’s hand. He was so angry that he directly hugged her hips and legs with one hand, held her in his arms, and strode into the house.
Lin Yu exclaimed and subconsciously put her arms around his shoulders. She saw the servants watching her from the corner of her eyes. Her cotton-embroidered shoes moved restlessly under her skirt, and she said anxiously, “Put me down. Someone is watching.”
As she spoke, she looked at her Third Brother in the yard with reluctance, “And my Third Brother hasn’t finished yet.”
Li Heming held her firmly and didn’t let go, scolding her coldly, “You are frozen yet still playing in the snow; don’t you know it’s cold?”
His tone was stern, and he yelled at Lin Yu. Her face was hot for a while. She didn’t feel ashamed when she was crazy playing in the snow, but now she was trying to save face. She reached out to cover Li Heming’s mouth, hiding her mouth under the fox collar, and said in a voice that only the two could hear, “Don’t scold me like you scold a daughter in front of outsiders.”
Li Heming didn’t say a word.
When they entered the room, he threw the cakes on the table and put Lin Yu next to the burning stove. He took off her snow-stained coat with a cold face, took a thick blanket from the bed, put it on her, and said: “Warm yourself.” Then he turned and went to the outer room.
Lin Yu sat by the stove and heard him ask someone to go to the kitchen to make a bowl of ginseng ginger tea and get a hand stove. Then he gravely said: “Today, anyone who allows Madam to play in the snow will be fined three months’ salary. If this happens again next time, you don’t have to stay in the Li Mansion.”
Li Heming always ignored the trivial matters in the mansion. When everyone saw him like this, they knew that he was angry, and they were all trembling and dared not breathe.
Lin Yu was stunned and complained inwardly: Why was he so fierce? He’s just like my brother!
When Li Heming entered the room and saw Lin Yu obediently covering herself with a blanket and sitting by the stove to warm up, his expression eased slightly. However, he still didn’t talk to her much, and it was evident that he was angry.
He sat before her, took off her half-w*t shoes and socks, picked up her feet, put one in his embrace, and held the other in his palm. He pressed an unknown acupuncture point on the sole of her foot. A sore feeling suddenly came. Lin Yu groaned and involuntarily retracted her legs. Li Heming raised his eyes to look at her, and she immediately put her feet into his palms.
Perhaps knowing that Li Heming would not do anything to her, Lin Yu was now much bolder than before getting married. She looked at the man, who warmed her feet with a cold expression, and whispered to him: “Li Heming.”
Li Heming did not say a word, not even raise his head. He massaged her feet with his eyelids half closed as if he did not hear it.
Seeing this, Lin Yu stretched out her hand and gently swept his straight and long eyelashes. He blinked his eyes and responded a little. Lin Yu slowly continued the second half of the sentence: “…You are so fierce.”
