Inlaid With Jade - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Dirty things
Li Heming stared at Lin Yu, but Lin Yu only looked at her dog, who didn’t know how serious this matter was. She anxiously called ‘Third Brother’ several times, but it didn’t look back at her.
The dog was angry and greedy; it had to have a bite of Li Heming’s meat in his bowl.
Lin Yu picked up the rope on the ground and pulled it back to no avail. She stood in front of Li Heming two steps away and saw the blood on his cuffs. She paused momentarily and whispered: “Lord Li, I didn’t keep an eye on it. I’m sorry.”
Li Heming didn’t respond. He didn’t eat the wontons in his hand. He just looked at her like he was looking at something strange.
Having chased the dog, Lin Yu mistakenly thought she had messed up her bun. She subconsciously reached out to touch the jade hairpin in her hair. Her fingertips gently touched the South China Sea pink pearls.
Li Heming followed her hand with his eyes and fixed on her pink earlobe for a moment before slowly turning back to her face. His eyes were sharp and had an indescribable aggression. Lin Yu frowned uncomfortably, not knowing what he was looking at. After a long while, he asked, “Miss Lin, you call an animal Third Brother?”
These words were somewhat contemptuous, but ‘Third Brother’ was the dog that the Lin family had carefully raised for ten years, and it had a special status in Lin Yu’s heart. She expressed dissatisfaction, “If Lord Li wants, I can also call Lord Li Second Brother.”
She was comparing her dog with him.
Unexpectedly, Li Heming put down the bowl, looked at her, and said, “Okay.”
Lin Yu was stunned and heard him say lightly, “Come on, don’t you want to call me Second Brother?”
He didn’t look like he was jesting, as if he genuinely wanted to hear her say, ‘Second Brother.’ Lin Yu didn’t expect Li Heming to answer her seriously. She stared at him blankly, stammering for a long time, but couldn’t utter anything.
Li Heming looked like he was waiting patiently, staring at her intently with his deep eyes, until Lin Yu’s face flushed.
What second brother? This man is obviously from a general family. How come he became a lecher?
Lin Yu couldn’t name him, nor did she have the courage to compare Li Heming and her dog, so she could only pretend to be deaf. She was in a dilemma, but ‘Third Brother’ didn’t have the brain to understand the situation. It didn’t care that its master was at a disadvantage because of the man’s words; it just stared at the bowl with the aroma of meat on the table. It panted, impatiently put its feet on the table, and stretched its mouth to eat the wontons that Li Heming had not finished.
Li Heming did not eat it, nor did he give it. He moved his hand and pushed the bowl away. Not far away, just within the distance that Third Brother’s paw could touch but could not eat.
Seeing this, Third Brother frowned and stared at Li Heming, roaring in its throat, and barked at him twice in exasperation. If Lin Yu didn’t pull it from behind, it would have bitten him again.
“Third brother!” Lin Yu scolded it for greed and felt Li Heming deliberately left two wontons in the bowl to entice it.
The Third Brother didn’t listen and was still trying to grab the bowl with its paw. Seeing that she couldn’t control it by yelling, Lin Yu got angry and reached out to slap its forehead. With a dull sound of ‘slap,’ Third Brother’s mind was dazed, and its eyes cleared up instantly.
She grabbed its collar and snarled: “If you bark again, I will stew you and eat your dog head!”
Clearly, it was not the first time Lin Yu scolded it. After being beaten, it immediately calmed down. It got off the table, lowered its head, glanced at her, and rubbed against her calf.
Seeing this, Li Heming inexplicably remembered that he had called her “Qiqi” on the street, and she scolded him in this harsh voice.
Lin Yu had not recovered from typhoid fever, and now she was so angry that she had a headache. She led the embarrassing dog, nodded to Li Heming, and saluted: “I have something else to do, so I will leave first and will not disturb Lord Li.”
Without waiting for Li Heming’s response, she took the dog leash and dragged Third Brother away. The poor dog didn’t get a bite of wonton but got beaten instead; its tail was drooping.
Seeing Lin Yu leave, Li Heming took a piece of silver from his pocket and put it on the table, intending to return to the prison to continue investigating the case. But before he got on the horse, he suddenly heard Lin Yu, who had walked a few steps, whispering to the dog, “Why do you bite any dirty things!”
When Li Heming heard this, he thought the “dirty thing” she was talking about were the wontons in his bowl that he hadn’t finished eating, but the next second, he heard her say, “Next time you bite that thing between a man’s legs, I’ll have someone pull out your teeth!”
The street was noisy, and she deliberately lowered her voice, thinking Li Heming couldn’t hear it. However, she didn’t know Li Heming’s wolf ears could hear it clearly. He turned around, squinted at Lin Yu’s back, and sneered coldly.
Oh, dirty thing?
