I Will Not Fall For the Villain’s Flirtations - Chapter 1 Part 4
“But one thing’s for sure, she will accumulate massive merits. If there is a Great Saint among us, it would probably be her.”
I turned my head in the direction she was pointing to see ‘her.’ There, I noticed a woman sitting alone at the opposite table, eating her meal.
She was exceptionally beautiful, to the point where her eyes stood out.
Her unique pink hair easily caught everyone’s attention, even in a crowd. Her slim and elegant figure, along with her sharp but cool eyes, made her a person who attracted attention in various ways.
“How do you know?”
“I heard that the temple went into an uproar when she set a historic record during the holy power appraisal.”
There are people who live a protagonist-like life in this world. With that appearance, she possesses such abilities. She seems to be leading a first-class life.
Wait, pink hair? There is only one person in the original with such a genetic makeup.
“What was her name again? Prim? Prim something…”
“Primis Starring?”
“Ah, that’s right. Have you talked to her?”
Leila asked with a curious expression. I sighed and shook my head.
So, she’s my rival.
Of course, I never intended to become the female protagonist’s rival. There’s no point in putting all my effort into a game that I’m bound to lose.
Besides, her specifications were already light-years beyond mine.
A protagonist-like appearance and protagonist-like abilities. In the future, everything will naturally revolve around her.
She will become the next Great Saint, a noble and honorable priest who defends the kingdom according to the prophecy.
If there is anything I’m better at than her, it would probably be my family background. Since this is a romance novel that follows the cliché of a Cinderella story.
No, honestly, I don’t know if that’s better either.
Primis Starring was a fallen noble. From a family of counts whose wealth was weakened after being wrongly viewed by a cardinal priest. Eventually, she regains her family’s status by connecting with the male lead, who’s the heir to a duchy.
A perfect ending that a supporting character like me could never dream of.
“Anyway, it doesn’t seem bad. If I learn how to regulate my holy power, even if I don’t remain in the temple, it will be useful later on.”
“That’s right.”
“Take care from now on, roommate!”
Leila smiled at me after exclaiming cheerfully. I smiled back at her, thinking that at least I had found a good roommate, which was fortunate.
It was such an innocent thought.
* * *
At a late hour at night, when darkness crept in.
I wasn’t able to enter my room until now.
The first reason was that I forgot my keys, and the second reason was…
“Aah!”
Leaning against the door and dozing off, I was awakened by a strange exclamation, not of surprise or admiration.
For a moment, my drowsiness dispersed, and I remembered the current situation. I pinched my cheek in frustration.
These damn people.
I stared at the inside of the room, where the sound of the bed was resonating loudly. They had been at it for an hour already.
My roommate, who does what she says, was also very good at executing her plans. This is all great, but why was she doing this here? Whoever this person is, they should go to his place!
This dorm, which had a shared living room and bathroom, had individual rooms, albeit small in size. But to enter my room, I had to pass through the living room, and the entrance to the living room was currently locked, which was the current problem.
And my roommate, who was heating up the night in her own room, didn’t know that I couldn’t come in because the door was locked. Whether she would realize this within today was doubtful.
“It’s driving me crazy, really.”
This is such a struggle on just the first day.
Of course, even if I were in my room, the soundproofing wouldn’t have been great. But at least I could have lied down.
It must be a long way from being over, right?
Still annoyed, I turned away from the incredibly noisy room with a sigh.
It was hard enough to keep listening to their passionate moans. It would be better to go for a nighttime walk while I wait. Perhaps when I come back from the walk, Leila might open the door for me.
The only good news is that in this place with many petty regulations, going for a nighttime walk is not forbidden. As long as I don’t go outside the temple, a walk is allowed.
Without much hesitation, I headed outside the dorm.
As I strolled through the corridor, I would occasionally caress the walls adorned with restrained decorations. In this stillness, as I walked and observed the night sky, I suddenly missed my family.
Can they imagine me like this?
My heavy heart reminded me of the dangerous events that happened during the day.
Who is that man, and what did he do to me?
Could it be that I am in danger?
“There was no such thing in the original.”
Of course, it could simply be that I don’t remember… or perhaps it’s because threats against supporting characters were too trivial and therefore not included.
This situation was confusing in many ways.
Not being able to eat meat at the temple was sad enough, but now I’m being threatened by a lunatic, and I will probably have sleepless nights in the future due to my passionate roommate.
“I know I’m just a supporting character, but this is too much.”
“What do you mean it’s too much?”
“Huh!”
I jumped in surprise when I saw someone suddenly appeared and started talking. I pressed against the pillar. The person standing there, smiling at me, was none other than the unidentified man who threatened me during the day.
“Well, uh….”
“Why are you out at this hour? Aren’t you sleepy?”
I was taken aback by the strange question. Who is this person?
“No, what exactly are you?”
“What do you mean?”
“What is your identity? And what did you do to my ears earlier?”
He awkwardly scratched the back of his head. In the end, the words that came out of his mouth were utter bullshit.
“If I say I’m a priest, would you believe me?”
“…Do I look like an idiot?”
“Don’t get angry. Your pretty face shouldn’t be spoiled.”
…Is this guy for real?
I couldn’t sleep, so my irritation dramatically increased. And I couldn’t just walk away, since he might even be dangerous.
“I don’t know what kind of magic, enchantment, or whatever it is you’ve put on me, but can’t you just get rid of it? I won’t tell anyone you’re here. I’m not that eager of a person.”
The most important thing to me is my own safety.
I suppose the safety of the country is also important, but honestly, he didn’t come here leading an army, and if they can’t even handle a single person wandering around like this, isn’t that the temple’s problem?
I didn’t have any intention of getting involved in something that could threaten my life, whether it was a friend or an enemy. I’ve always wanted to live a thin and long life fitting for a supporting character.
“Have you decided what you want to eat?”
“……”
I gave him an evasive refusal. I realized for the first time that a handsome face could be so annoying.
Without any response, I turned my back and sat down on the stairs.
No matter how late it was, how is it possible that there was not a single person around? I hope someone passes by and takes this man away.
But this man, whose intentions I couldn’t figure out at all, casually took a seat beside me. I was so troubled, and I didn’t like being alone with him at all.
“Aren’t you going in? It’s chilly, and you might catch a cold.”
Who doesn’t want to go inside?
I was getting tired of explaining things, so I just sighed. Well, to begin with, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to explain.
No matter what, it’s not right to spread my roommate’s personal life to just anyone, especially to someone I don’t even know.
“Leave me alone for a bit. You’re not going to help anyway.”
“What kind of help do you need? I can help.”
“Don’t pretend to be kind while talking about threats.”
He chuckled softly. The sound of his muffled laughter was pleasant. It made me laugh at myself for having such thoughts about the villain.
Why does this man keep teasing me anyway?
“How long are you going to stay in the temple? You said you came to see something. See it quickly and leave.”
“It seems like you’re not happy to see me. We haven’t known each other for long, and you’re already trying to drive me away. I wanted to see you, though.”
I really don’t understand why this conversation is going this way. I’m not sure if he’s heartless, oblivious, or just a pervert who enjoys watching me suffer.
But what he said next was even more absurd.
“Don’t lean on the pillar, lean on me. You’re going to catch a cold.”
“……”
He’s truly an incorrigible person.
I looked at him, puzzled, tapping his own shoulder and winking.
This kind of shameless physical contact isn’t the norm in this archaic country, and it’s especially ridiculous considering our current relationship.
You threatened me, and now you want me to lean on your shoulder?
“Why are you acting like this towards me, seriously.”
“You looked really tired.”
“Please, just leave me alone.”
“You know how to talk aggressively, and it’s sexy.”
“……”
I haven’t lived a long life, but I’ve lived it twice. I pride myself on having met various types of people, but I swear, this human being was the first of its kind.
I almost made history with this guy, I must have gone crazy.
“Is that your habit of speaking? Or are you doing it because you find my reaction amusing?”
“If it sounded like mockery, even though it was an honest opinion, I apologize.”
The tone of his voice was still devoid of sincerity. At least that’s how it sounded to me.
I let out an earth-shattering sigh and leaned my head against the pillar. I was incredibly tired after not sleeping properly last night and being busy since the morning. I wondered where Leila got her energy from. On top of all the physical and emotional exhaustion, I was hungry.
It’s all because I haven’t eaten meat. How can someone survive by just eating grass? I want to eat meat.
But there was something that overcame my hunger, and that was sleep. My eyes gradually closed, even against the chill coming from the pillar. If I stayed still any longer, I felt like I would faint.
“Do you want to eat meat?”
…What is that human saying now? Did I accidentally say what I was thinking out loud?
In my hazy consciousness, I heard his low laughter. The man I glimpsed was casually observing me with his chin resting on his hand.
“You’re the first person I’ve seen sleeping in front of me.”
I felt a sensation as if someone had moved my head from the cold stone to something warm. From that soft yet firm thing, a pleasant smell emanated.
“Sleep well.”
The whispering sound in my ear was so sweet. That was my last memory.
