06. Curiosity Kills the Cat (5)
Translated by: ???
If she1MC Eve refers to OG Eve here. persists in trying to break free from Callisto despite his relentless mental assault, she’ll fall into the Bad Ending route. This is where he uses all of his magic to drag Eve back to his lair and cast a mind-control spell that permanently scars her mind, turning her into a puppet that can’t do anything of her own volition. The Bad Ending of the Callisto Route ends with Callisto smiling happily as he holds Eve in his arms, unable to feed herself.
Even if she eventually gives up everything and accepts Callisto’s feelings, things don’t get any better. Unable to stand by and watch Eve develop relationships with others, Callisto decides to keep her to himself and silence her forever.
He builds a cave somewhere in the northern Archidium Mountains, where there is a year-round ice cap that never melts. He casts layers of protective spells to create a giant pillar of ice into which he traps the sleeping Eve. The deeply asleep Eve will eventually die, but she will remain there forever, trapped in crystal-clear ice that will never melt, never decay, never disappear.
In other words, if she got too deeply entangled with Callisto, he’d either have her mind destroyed and live as an idiot, or she’d be frozen alive and taxidermied. Eve grimaced at the though that made her nauseous. But Callisto’s route was an early one. It also meant that Callisto’s atrocities were “mild” compared to the others.
The crown prince……. He’s a back alley thug who is the real boss of overreacting……. Compared to him, Grand Duke Callisto would seem like a good guy. And Alberic, well, he was a good guy, too…… He locked people up and beat them to death, or locked them up and raised them like cattle, but he wasn’t as brutal as those two. But still, I kept thinking, “Oh, my God, what are these developers sucking on?”
Anyway, it didn’t take her long to get to work. One last time, Eve tugged on the links that connected Callisto’s wrists to his neck, inspecting them. The owner of the leather workshop had kindly made sure that the metal locks on the cuffs could be loosened and fastened at will, allowing for a variety of positions. It was twice as convenient as Eve’s proposed design, and when Eve received her first pair of cuffs, all she could say was that they were a stretching miracle.
Both wrists were secured to thick rings on a leather cuff around his neck, immobilizing his arms, and then two cuffs were placed on his lower body, one on his thighs and one on his shins, bordered by his knees, and secured with golden cuffs to prevent him from spreading his knees. Long chains were then fastened to both thighs, one to each side, and secured to the right and left posts at the head of the bed.
Eve stepped back a couple of steps and looked down at the sight she had created. It was completely unbecoming of a great wizard. He looked like a puppy turned upside down with its belly exposed, or a frog about to be dissected. Handsome, but with slim lines, his overall appearance was not to Eve’s taste, and she judged him harshly.
‘You may be an archmage, but without mana, you can’t use magic. You won’t even be able to open a circle in the first place……. I wouldn’t have known it if I hadn’t seen the true ending.’
Thanks to the game’s automatic multi-route system, the male leads were fighting almost every playthrough. Cutting off the airborne mana in such a confined space was the method Basilio, the boss of the Underworld, had learned to kill Callisto. In that fight, the player’s love life would depend on whether the player helped Callisto by breaking the mana-trapping tool or letting Basilio win by pretending the player didn’t see it, but it didn’t matter, because Eve’s life would be the centerpiece.
“Fucking game…….”
Eve muttered a curse word about the worldview and brought a single dried flower she hadn’t put in her tea. Crushing the dried flower into a powder in her hand, Eve blew on it, careful not to inhale, and sprinkled it over Callisto’s face. As if he’d inhaled it in his sleep, it wasn’t long before Callisto responded with a snort.
‘Isolde’s Tears is a powerful stimulant when inhaled directly as a powder. Of course, the petals just offset each other’s effect if the person who drank the water inhales it.’
Eve glanced up at Callisto, who was coughing and slowly opening his eyes. It was quite a sight to behold, those hazy violet eyes narrowing and then widening as they came into focus. As the light began to return to the dull pupils, a frosty anger began to take hold of Callisto’s doll-like face.
He wasted no time in scrambling to his feet. It was a good try, of course, and if he hadn’t been bound, he would have been on his feet in no time, reciting the Triple Oath and putting Eve to death in one fell swoop.
But his body was bound by restraints, and his freedom was taken away by a small toy cube. Callisto soon realized that things were going badly.
Nature’s mana, which had always so kindly responded to his requests, was not responding to him. His hands and feet were tied, and his senses were paralyzed. It was a helplessness he hadn’t felt since the age of five, when he began to feel mana. Callisto’s complexion quickly turned a sickly blue.
“W, what have you done, you son of a bitch!”
“Shut up. I thought you might resist, so I just asked for your mana and body for cooperation for a moment.”
“You, you son of a bitch! You crazy bitch! I can’t get this off! I’ll kill you! I’ll tear you to pieces!”
“Be quiet and I’ll untie you. My ears are hurting, so will you please be quiet?”
“Let go of me, let me go now, you fucking bitch, never think of dying in peace. I, I, I’ll kill you!”
His defiance was stronger than she thought. Callisto flailed and flailed and flailed. She was not surprised that the mage, who had spent his life feeling mana, reacted like a fish out of water after being thrust into such an enclosed void.
Unfortunately for him, however, the leather binding him was still intact, tanned to an incredibly durable finish. Eve lined the bed with the items she’d bought from the Secret Shop she’d visited on her trip to the capital, and lifted the iron gag from among them. It wasn’t too difficult to open Callisto’s mouth to the barrel as he whined.
In a flash, the long horizontal section of metal was jammed over his mouth, and the leather strap attached to each end was pulled around his head, securing it tightly. He struggled and struggled, but a mage who couldn’t use magic was more of an ordinary man, and he was no match for Eve’s strength, which she had been training for some time now.
The room finally quieted down, albeit through forceful means. Of course, that didn’t stop Callisto from struggling, and the deafening rattle of chains continued. Still, it was heaven compared to a few moments ago, when he’d been shaking and screaming like a whale.
Eve waited until he sagged in the weeds, exhausted. The stamina of a mage who couldn’t use magic would be similar to Alberic’s, at best, or a little better. It wasn’t long before Callisto was panting, spitting out a series of hissing breaths. His jerky movements slowed to a crawl.
Callisto felt like prey caught in a spider’s web. His whole body was tied up, and the only part of him that could move at will was his eyes. He could feel anxiety and fear burning through his nerves, and somehow his toes felt ticklish.
His heart pumped rapidly as he tried to erase the lascivious scenes etched into his memory. Like a lie, his body harbored a small heat even as his entire body trembled in fear from the bondage. He was startled to realize that he was unknowingly reliving the intimate scenes he had witnessed in the chamber over and over again.
“Are you ready to listen to my story now? Wait, you won’t be able to answer anyway, so just listen.”
Callisto gritted his teeth, and the metal gag made a muffled sound. Oh, that would hurt, but it was none of Eve’s business. She grunted, letting the sound slip out of her ear as she continued.
“From now on, I’m going to take advantage of your weaknesses. Something you can’t reveal to anyone.”
Callisto’s pale face came into view, and the look of disgust on his face made the hairs on Eve’s head stand up.
“From the looks of it, you’re pretty good at it, too, though it might be a little rough at first. Good luck.”
And, if possible, I hope you hate me with a passion. Eve swallowed the words back in her throat.
The first thing she did was place a soft red cloth over Callisto’s eyes. He shook his head again, rejecting her touch, but once again, resistance was futile. It wasn’t hard for Eve to take away Callisto’s sight. With his vision blocked and one sense gone, his other senses became acutely aware. Callisto could hear the rustling of fabric, and soon he could feel the bed gently shifting as if someone was settling down next to him.
His heart pounded with fear, nervousness, and tenuous anticipation. The pounding in his ears, the throbbing of his pulse, was loud. Callisto had never felt such intense helplessness and fear in his life. There was no mana in the air he breathed, and his hands and feet were bound in restraints, depriving him of freedom. He could do nothing but accept the unknown that was about to be unleashed upon him.
Eve smiled in amusement as she looked down at Callisto, his face pale with fear.
In her hands, Eve held a small jar of ointment and a finger-thick brush made of sable hair. The soft marten fur swayed softly and gently with Eve’s gesture.
Then the tip of the brush gently settled on the comb of Callisto’s neck. Slowly, the brush traced down his neckline, as if to paint his flesh with invisible colors. The gag was snapped shut once more, the sound of metal and teeth meshing.
The white brush glided over Callisto’s flesh in fluid strokes. A deep sweep under his collarbone, then down between his breasts, tickling his belly, then a firm, dusting touch between his ribs. It circled along the underside of my belly button, then moved lower, skimming over the muscles of his thighs. It pushed up his tattered underwear and dug into it, stimulating the muscles and jutting bones deeper in his thighs, then suddenly tickled the peach bones of his ankles, then moved to the soles of his feet, teasing them.
In some places he didn’t feel anything, in others it was tolerably ticklish, in some places it made his toes curl, and in some places it made him feel so weird that he would have screamed if he hadn’t been gagged. The brush, sensing his reaction, continued to target the ticklish spots for a while, until Callisto’s eyes began to water.
