Alberic couldn’t hold back his words as he watched Eve persistently kneading Castel’s chest, almost as if she was molesting him.
“Honestly, your audacity is remarkable. How can you do this during work hours…?”
“Want to join in, Brother?”
Eve nonchalantly chuckled, brushing off his comment, which fell somewhere between sarcasm and nagging. Alberic, recalling Callisto’s state earlier, shook his head with a slightly disgusted expression.
“No, I’m good. It made me feel a bit nauseous.”
“That’s weird. Everyone loves getting their ass fucked. You’re the only one who doesn’t seem to enjoy it much.”
“…I-If you wish, you can… put it in… It’s fine with me…”
Eve giggled at Alberic’s pale face as he desperately tried to appease her, despite looking like he was about to throw up. She then gently stroked the knight sitting on her lap and said, “It’s alright. Sir Castel enjoys it. Don’t you?”
“…..”
“He gets so sensitive back there. He cums just from a few fingers. He’s so adorable.”
Castel flushed crimson, his stoic face turning downwards as he fixed his gaze on the floor. Amused by his reaction, Eve chuckled and planted a few kisses on the back of his reddened neck.
“So, where are you going today?”
Eve, hearing the slight change in Alberic’s tone, tilted her head, looking at him over Castel’s shoulder.
“Oh, I have to feed the dogs today.”
“Is that so?”
“Want to join me for dinner tonight?”
“Sure.”
“Ah… but William’s coming, too. We’re not going to do anything… He just needs to be punished.”
Alberic, who had brightened up at Eve’s invitation to “come over for ramen,” nodded. But his expression clouded at her next words.
“…Having someone watch is… a bit…”
“It’s alright. You’ll be wearing a blindfold.”
“That’s not the issue.”
“Oh, come on. It’ll be fine.”
“It’s not fine with me.”
“If you keep complaining, I’ll have you stripped naked at the front door.”
“…..”

Many things had changed since reaching the ?ending?.
Edward, now bound to Eve by her mark, could no longer harm her. He took it upon himself to clean up the mess he had created in his attempts to possess her. The deaths of the Count and Countess Vermell, along with the supposed ?son of Lady Rosalyn?, were part of that mess.
Under the direction of the person responsible for the incident and with the cooperation of the sole remaining family member, Alberic, the carriage accident was concluded as an unfortunate incident caused by poorly maintained wheels. The man who had claimed to be Rosalyn’s son was exposed as a fraud who had fabricated evidence.
At the funeral, Eve, dressed in a black mourning dress, observed Alberic, who was watching the coffins being lowered into the ground, his face dry and devoid of tears. She asked:
—Are you alright?
He stared at the graves and whispered:
—I’m not sure. My grandfather made sure I never formed any attachments with anyone in the family. He probably used his own experience as a warning, as he never got over Lady Rosalyn. Maybe that’s why… I don’t feel much of anything.
‘Besides, ?he? is already being punished, isn’t he?’ Alberic added with a smirk, recalling the sight of Edward, naked and bent over, serving as Eve’s footrest for over an hour the previous day.
Alberic subsequently received the position of Vice Chairman of the House of Lords as compensation for his parents’ deaths. Many questioned the appointment of a young, mid-twenties Count to one of only three such positions, but he skillfully navigated the political landscape of the House of Lords, firmly establishing his place.
Although Alberic knew that Eve’s biological mother wasn’t Lady Rosalyn, he kept it to himself, allowing her to continue using the Vermell name.
According to the records on the Saintess that Edward had shown her, the Daughter of God wasn’t born through human means and manifested only when the divine deemed it necessary. In other words, Eve had no biological parents.
Eve, revealing this secret to Alberic, had jokingly said, ?It’s a shame we can’t play as relatives?, only to be met with a cold, disdainful glare.
After returning to the capital and enjoying a brief period of unemployment, Eve, at the insistent urging of Edward and the recommendation of Castel, applied to the Royal Guard. Due to a severe shortage of personnel after Edward ascended the throne, following a major reshuffling within the palace, Eve, despite the handicap of being a young woman, successfully obtained knighthood.
Along with her title, she received the surname ?Therouanne?. It was then that she felt truly complete. The last piece of the puzzle had fallen into place, bringing a sense of wholeness. She realized that her aversion to the name Vermell had been stronger than she had imagined.
At the knighting ceremony, Eve deliberately revealed her aura and even boasted about her brief training under the White Knight, Marguerite. She knew that as a woman, she wouldn’t be given a chance unless she showed them her strongest card.
Forty-two knights were knighted that year. Eve became one of only three female knights.
As if having heard the news, Marguerite visited Eve on the day of her knighting ceremony. Laughing heartily, saying she never expected Eve to actually become a knight, she drank with Eve until they both passed out. The next morning, she vanished without a trace. Eve wished she had shared some tips on surviving in the Royal Guard, but figured they would meet again someday.
Thus began Eve’s life as a Royal Guard. Her skill in controlling aura allowed her to skip the outer palace security detail and become part of the Emperor’s personal guard. Sir Arnold Wittelsbach, Captain of the First Imperial Knights and Commander of the Emperor’s Personal Guard, selected members based solely on their abilities. Therefore, it was only natural for Eve, who could hold her own against Castel, the strongest knight in the Imperial Knights, for over twenty rounds, to be included in the Emperor’s Personal Guard.
Sir Arnold, a man who strictly separated personal and professional matters, treated Eve, who had been trained by Marguerite, with warmth. While he remained stoic and aloof during work hours, issuing orders with a stern expression reminiscent of Castel, he often tossed her bags of candy after their shift, gruffly saying, “I don’t know what you young girls like these days; share this with the others.”
Eve always shared the candy with her fellow knights. Sugar rush was important during guard duty.
Eve popped a chocolate chip cookie, a gift from Sir Arnold, into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully. After dusting off the crumbs from her hands, she showed her ID card at the main gate of the Imperial Palace.
Finishing her shift, she exchanged greetings with the knights replacing her, saluting them before exiting the palace.
As she walked along the tree-lined path leading away from the main gate, she saw two new recruits patrolling the outer perimeter, saluting her.
“Dame Evelyn! Are you heading home?”
“Yes. Good work, you two.”
“You too, Ma’am!”
“Good work.”
Both recruits were female knights. Eve grinned and returned their salute before walking past them.
The appearance of a female knight, dressed in a dark blue uniform, her hair pulled back tightly in a simple bun, her face free of makeup, escorting the Emperor during official events, had caused quite a stir within the palace.
Eve had heard that the number of female applicants to the Royal Guard had increased since she began serving as Edward’s escort. It was a small thing, but it filled her with a sense of pride.
After walking through the outer palace and past the grand avenue leading out of the palace grounds, Eve finally reached the outer gate. Exiting through a small side gate next to the ornate main gate, she spotted a familiar face and waved.
William, who had been waiting for her, his face pressed against the window of the carriage, watching the side gate intently, waved back from inside.
