I Don't Want To Do a Romantic Comedy With a Villain! - Chapter 170 - END
Episode 170
Epilogue: Last Chapter (5)
Tedric and Min-joo made eye contact, but he immediately averted his gaze without any hesitation.
Since she didn’t expect Tedric to come, she became curious if he had come with someone and glanced at the person sitting next to him.
It was Terisha, whom she had seen before. Her eyes were still swollen, but she looked more lively than before, and her once gaunt cheeks had filled out nicely.
It seemed that Terisha’s condition had improved, as she was attending the event with them. Terisha sat with a fat face the entire time, with Tedric occasionally whispering words of affection or checking on her.
Terisha also glanced at Ceteran disapprovingly and sometimes tapped Tedric’s forearm as if venting her anger. It seemed like she didn’t like Ceteran as a child of Nelsie.
As Tedric’s behavior was ambiguous towards her, Min-joo shifted her gaze to Vehen.
Vehen was gazing at Min-joo. Within his persistent gaze, one could read his desire for marriage.
‘I feel strange.…’
Indeed. She wanted to get married, but she thought it was too early.
But… standing in the wedding hall, her thoughts changed.
She was confident that Vehen would stand by her without changing.
It was because Min-joo knew about his past, where he struggled to protect her even through many regressions.
Finding someone like Vehen who matched so well was difficult, and marrying someone who felt love for the first time seemed like a romantic situation only found in novels.
‘What do I want to do? Me in Korea, me here, I can’t give up either.…’
She might have selfish thoughts about not being able to easily decide which one to give up.
If she marries Vehen here, she doesn’t even know what to tell her family.
If their daughter who went abroad for work suddenly came back married.
If she couldn’t even show her husband or tell what she did.
She was at the point of a headache from practical worries. Min-joo swallowed dry saliva and focused on the wedding.
Neriant and Ceteran were already exchanging vows. While having different thoughts, they exchanged wedding rings and completed the marriage vow.
Neriant looked at the Count Velirian. The Count had raised his daughter alone even after his wife passed away early.
The father must have had a hard time when his daughter, who was his everything, became someone else.
Neriant felt sorry for the Count. If Neriant wasn’t possessed, would the Count have been happy?
“…Lady Velirian, please don’t cry.”
Transparent teardrops formed under her blue eyes. Ceteran was visibly taken aback by the tears silently streaming down her face, not knowing what to do.
Neriant also couldn’t understand why she was crying. It was unclear if it was because of the influence of the original host that she felt embarrassed about shedding tears.
Neriant, feeling a careful stroke on her cheek, opened her eyes.
“If you don’t want to marry… you can honestly tell me.”
In the reflection of his crimson eyes, she saw tears streaming down her face, and Ceteran’s expression as he looked at her was deeply distressed.
Ceteran was easily discouraged and worried, lacking in confidence. That’s how Neriant knew him. He was probably worried that she was crying because she didn’t want to get married.
Neriant smiled broadly, her blue eyes wide open.
“It’s not that Your Majesty doesn’t want to, right? Well, even if that’s the case, I won’t let you go.”
It was a reassuring answer that dispelled all anxieties. Ceteran once again realized why he couldn’t help but love Neriant.
Meanwhile, Min-joo, who was watching from behind, was extremely puzzled.
She wasn’t curious about Neriant’s way of love, nor did she want to see Ceteran begging cutely like a kitten.
She just wished the wedding would end quickly. Min-joo smiled with a soulless expression on her face.
* * *
After the wedding, Min-joo attended the reception with Vehen.
Vehen was tired from meeting many people and engaging in conversations.
The reception followed the formalities after Neriant and Ceteran completed their wedding ceremony, and many nobles attended.
The party in the palace garden was splendid. The food was luxurious, and she heard there would be fireworks at night.
“Vehen, what will we do about your lack of social skills?”
“I get tired of too many people. Don’t you want to leave soon?”
Vehen, feeling awkward, moved to a corner. Min-joo followed along naturally.
“It’s fun to be around many people. You can make new friends.”
“I only need you. What’s the problem?”
“Ugh.”
The obvious answer tickled, and Min-joo scratched her goosebumpy forearms and scowled at Vehen.
“You think I play around with you every day? Funny. I’m busy too, you know?”
“I’m busy too.”
“Are we just going to work all our lives or what?”
While they bantered as usual, Min-joo quickly scanned the surroundings.
Tedric and Terisha had already left. Min-joo pulled Vehen’s arm and whispered.
“Tedric and Terisha were here. Did you see them?”
“I did. They left as soon as it ended.”
“I feel a bit disappointed. They left without saying anything.”
Vehen wasn’t particularly upset, but he understood what Min-joo was implying.
It wasn’t jealousy, but Min-joo was expressing her feelings of disappointment towards Permette and Tedric.
Why does she keep giving her affection to others when he’s enough?
Leaning his head on Min-joo’s shoulder, Vehen muttered softly.
“Let it go. Everyone lives their own life. You’re busy too, right?”
“Just because you’re busy doesn’t mean the people who are important to you become less important.”
With a casual expression that carried warmth, she said the obvious words. Vehen once again realized that Min-joo was always like this.
The Min-joo Vehen observed easily shared emotions with others and empathized. While he understood it intellectually, there were parts he couldn’t feel in his heart.
Vehen wished her to take care of herself more than the people around her. So that she could prioritize herself over others.
The black hair touched his cheeks and tickled.
“But you don’t need to take care of others when you’re stressed.”
Although it wasn’t stressful, Min-joo seemed to understand what Vehen was saying.
Min-joo nodded slightly.
One step outside, and there were noble people gathered in groups of threes and fives, chatting with gentle faces as they ate, and further out, they danced to the music.
It was now a familiar culture and attire. Min-joo took Vehen’s hand.
“Then I have a concern.”
“What is it?”
Vehen asked affectionately. His soft voice was gentle, and his fingers brushed gently across her backhand.
The late spring evening was chilly. Min-joo leaned closer to Vehen as she spoke.
“Whether to stay here or go back.”
“…Do you want to go?”
He tried not to show it, but Vehen’s voice trembled faintly at the end.
She could feel the tension in his hands, which were tightly clenched.
As the sky darkened, bulbs hidden throughout the garden began to illuminate. People cheered and looked at the bulbs.
Min-joo looked at the round glowing bulbs and hesitated to speak.
“But I don’t want to leave behind the connections I’ve made here.”
“Then don’t leave.”
If it were Vehen, he would surely let her do as she wished.
Min-joo looked at Vehen with a surprised expression.
His intense green eyes sparkled with possessiveness.
His fingers, firmly clasped, didn’t seem willing to let go of Min-joo.
“Stay with me, here.”
She thought it sounded like a proposal. Instead of candles, bulbs were illuminating the garden, sweet music, and a beautiful flower bed behind Vehen.
He said he wouldn’t be greedy. He said he would do anything for her happiness.
Min-joo’s black eyes sparkled like the night sky. Her neatly tied hair swayed in the wind.
“Would I be happy by your side, Vehen?”
“I’ll make sure of it. I’ll use everything I have to make you happy.”
“How much do you have?”
A sarcastic remark slipped out reflexively. Realizing how ridiculous her words were, she shut her mouth.
Vehen chuckled softly. As their foreheads touched, Min-joo swallowed nervously.
Their faces were close. The familiar scent of flowers mixed with Vehen’s scent enveloped her.
“See for yourself how much I have while you’re by my side.”
“…It seems like a lot.”
Whenever Vehen acted silly, Min-joo didn’t know how to react. Unlike his usual rough demeanor, she felt her heart flutter whenever he acted like this.
Min-joo cautiously pulled at Vehen’s collar, her face turning red.
“You probably won’t see everything even in your lifetime.”
He was confident. He thought he had a lot to offer anyway.
But that attitude was slightly arrogant. Feeling a little defeated and unable to respond easily, Vehen lightly brushed his nose against Min-joo’s.
“There’s a good way. A way for you to have everything without giving up on anything.”
“…How?”
“We’ll figure it out, together. We’ll always strive to find a better way.”
Affectionate tone and voice. This is the side of Vehen that he only shows to Min-joo.
Min-joo liked Vehen’s affectionate attitude. It was nice to see the side that only she could see, and it was nice to feel his affectionate heart.
Min-joo blinked and looked at Vehen. Their budding lips seemed like they would touch.
“…Can we find it?”
“Why wouldn’t we be able to? We’ve always been like this.”
Once again, she realized why she fell in love with Vehen. Why she wanted to be with Vehen, why she wanted to be by his side.
Because they found a good direction together without one taking the lead.
Because they discussed which path was the right one and supported each other as they moved forward.
That’s why she fell in love with Vehen.
“Then let’s look for it together. How should we do it?”
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
She pretended not to hear Vehen’s grumbling mutter about asking Robert for advice whenever needed.
Bang! With a loud noise, fireworks shot up into the sky.
The black sky adorned with lights scattered beautifully into the air.
Although she had seen the fireworks many times, she looked at them as if mesmerized by their beauty every time.
The held hand was sturdy, and the touching shoulders provided comfort. Min-joo leaned her head on Vehen’s shoulder and murmured.
“Shall we set a wedding date?”
“What? I didn’t hear you.”
Vehen’s words were drowned out by the sound of fireworks. Min-joo playfully laughed at the faint voice.
“If you didn’t hear it, then forget it.”
“No, I felt like it was something important to me. Tell me quickly.”
“Later. Not now.”
“I said tell me now. You’ll forget later.”
Quick on the uptake, isn’t he? Min-joo swallowed the excitement as she watched the bursting fireworks dispersing in a mundane manner.
She was confident that she could overcome any adversity with Vehen by her side.
It was okay for precious people to leave her side to live their own lives. Min-joo would live her own life too.
A life so blissful that she didn’t want to wake up from it, like a dream.
Together with the one she loves.
