Hunter: I'm Really Not a Nen Exorcist - Chapter 16
Two rounds of offensive and defensive play…
Moyu was utterly defeated.
“There was no chance at all.”
During his break, Moyu replayed the events in his head, concluding that there was no opportunity to seize.
Physical attributes could be improved with persistent training, but combat experience and actual fighting techniques could only be honed through actual combat.
Moyu closed his eyes slowly, simultaneously shutting his aura nodes, confining the aura that would have slightly leaked, in order to speed up the recovery.
Right now, he wanted nothing more than to recover quickly and continue his combat training.
After approximately an hour, Moyu’s potential aura finally restored to 90%.
Believing himself capable of another round, he immediately requested Light for another sparring session.
Minutes later…
Moyu was down again.
Despite the continuous defeats, Moyu didn’t lose heart.
He was well aware that even if given a hundred days, it would be impossible for him to defeat Light in a direct confrontation.
For physical attributes cannot be built overnight and combat experience takes time to accumulate.
Throughout the ten days of sparring, Moyu’s only goal was to gain as much “experience points” as possible from the countless defeats.
“Again.”
Once again fully recovered, Moyu got up immediately and signaled Light to continue their sparring session.
Light smiled and swiftly took Moyu down yet again.
At equal aura levels, he didn’t misuse any Nen techniques, relying solely on his superior martial skills and experience to overwhelm Moyu.
The sparring session was forced to end around noon.
The reason being, the gold Light had purchased had arrived.
30 million Jenny was converted into 18 kilograms of gold.
Apart from the gold, Light had also bought a computer and a mobile phone for Moyu, along with a vast amount of meat.
Considering the limited food storage in the monastery, Light generously added several large commercial refrigerators for storing the meat.
And issues like electricity and internet connectivity? Not a problem at all.
After all, with a Hunter License, one can expect VIP service.
Employees in uniforms constantly moved between the foot of the mountain and the monastery, fulfilling all of Light’s requirements in just half an hour.
Moyu, who was taking the time to recover his potential aura, was utterly amazed. He had planned to get a computer and phone after the sparring session, but Light took care of it all quietly.
Moreover, Light even took care of the internet and electricity logistics.
Was it typical for Enhancer types to be so meticulous?
Moyu began to doubt the true nature of Light’s Nen type.
“Light.”
Holding the latest and expensive fully-functional smartphone in his hand, Moyu looked at Light and sincerely said, “You went to great lengths. How about this? The ‘favor’ I mentioned earlier…”
“It’s just a small expense.”
Light interrupted Moyu, staring intently, “What, my favor isn’t worth anything?”
“That’s not what I meant.”
Moyu shook his head.
He didn’t feel much sensation from the 18 kilograms of gold exchanged for 30 million Jenny, but what Light had done for him truly touched his heart.
It made him feel that burdening Light with another favor wouldn’t be right.
“Heh, I don’t care what you mean.”
Light grinned, revealing a neat set of teeth, using his distinctive deep voice, “Anyway, the favor I owe shouldn’t be something so cheap.”
“Understood.”
Moyu didn’t insist any further.
He figured that trying to persuade an Enhancer was like doing hundreds of push-ups under the sun – it’d be more meaningful.
Afterward, Light went to the kitchen to prepare lunch.
Pork, beef, lamb, chicken…
Basically all meat.
According to him, eating more meat was easier for muscle growth.
Moyu thought this was a skewed theory.
But as the saying goes…
Don’t attempt to change the views that Enhancers hold.
That would just be a waste of time.
After a while, Light brought out plate after plate of meat, still boiled as before.
Both of them sat down.
Light concentrated his aura in his mouth, then picked up a large piece of meat and stuffed it in, his teeth crunching like a meat grinder, easily chewing the meat to pulp in a matter of seconds.
“Moyu, have you tested your Nen type?”
After swallowing a large piece of meat, Light suddenly remembered this and asked.
“Not yet.”
Moyu picked up a chicken leg and gnawed on it.
After stepping into Nen, his Nen ability had partially awakened. Even so, he hadn’t thought of using ‘Water Divination’ to test his Nen type. Right now, his foundation wasn’t solid, and having too much unnecessary information stored in his head would backfire.
Because he was a transmigrator, did that mean he had to urgently test his Nen type soon after entering this world? Moyu thought there was no rush; focusing on practicing the Four Major Principles was his top priority.
Seeing Light ask now, he didn’t deliberately conceal anything.
If it were before…
Moyu would definitely have used the excuse ‘What is Nen type testing?’ to hide any information related to himself.
Light paused for a moment, then casually asked, “Do you want to test it after eating?”
He had actually considered the possibility that Moyu’s dad, Hawk, might also be a Nen user. However, his current focus was to show Moyu his value as a future master in front of him.
Anything else wasn’t on his priority list.
“Sure.”
Moyu responded smoothly.
Nen types were divided into six categories—
Enhancement, Transmutation, Emission, Manipulation, Conjuration, and Specialization.
Each nen type has its unique advantages, with the Specialization category being the rarest and most peculiar.
Every individual possesses a specific attribute. By aligning their nen training according to their innate attribute, one could achieve more with less effort. Conversely, training in a nen ability outside of one’s inherent category is challenging.
Therefore, before establishing a direction for nen training, nen users usually test their inherent category through the Water Divination method.
Soon after, Moyu and Light began to eat their meals, maintaining an unspoken understanding between them.
Not long after they finished eating, the two started preparations for the nen type test.
The process was simple: a cup full of water with a leaf floating on top. By enveloping the cup with one’s nen, the changes within the water could determine the individual’s nen type.
For Enhancers, the water would overflow.
For Transmuters, the water’s taste would change, with each individual resulting in a unique flavor.
For Conjurers, the water would form crystalline substances.
For Emitters, the water would change color.
For Manipulators, the floating leaf would sway and move.
As for the Specialization type, any phenomenon different from the aforementioned would indicate it.
Light instructed Moyu to stand in front of the cup and said, “Place both hands around the cup, then release your nen.”
Before beginning the nen test, he explained the knowledge behind nen types, regardless of whether Moyu was familiar with it. This is Light’s dedication to demonstrating his potential as a future master. He wouldn’t miss any opportunity to show his worth.
Moyu never found Light verbose and always followed his lead. He enveloped the cup with his hands and channeled his nen.
A vibration emanated from the cup, enveloped by the power of Moyu’s nen. Within moments, a shadowy substance, akin to ink splattered on paper, spread within the water.
Witnessing this, surprise flashed in Light’s eyes.
“Specialization type, huh?”
This was the first time Light had witnessed the phenomenon of the Specialization type during a Water Divination test.
Or perhaps, most nen users had never seen the Specialization type in action due to its extreme rarity and uniqueness.
“Moyu, you should…”
Before Light could advise Moyu to halt, the cup suddenly shattered, with the impact sending the water and shards everywhere. The leaf, previously floating, was torn into dozens of fragments.
Moyu flinched slightly. Protected by his aura, he was unharmed. However, this Specialization phenomenon sparked curiosity in him about other potential manifestations within this unique category.
It was uncertain how other Specialization types would manifest during attribute testing.
“Moyu, you have the Specialization type,” Light said, suppressing his inner turmoil as he glanced at the shattered glass and water on the floor. “Unfortunately, I don’t understand the Specialization type well enough to offer useful advice. However, I must remind you that before determining the direction of ability development, it’s better to master the techniques of the ‘Four Major Principles.'”
“I understand,” Moyu nodded, not sparing a glance at the broken glass but instead walking to the courtyard.
“Light, let’s begin,” he declared.
It seemed that the most unique and scarce Specialization type couldn’t shake his determination to swiftly absorb experience from the training.
Light was slightly taken aback, then inexplicably smiled.
This guy…
He’s really something.
The scorching sun hung high.
Within the courtyard, two auras collided.
From morning to evening, from today to tomorrow…
Time passed day by day.
The ten-day training period was coming to an end.
Despite Moyu struggling against Light, he was like a new sponge, absorbing experience and nen techniques with fervor through battle after battle.
This point was deeply understood by Light, the training partner.
“It’s like… witnessing a raw gem gradually shedding its surface to reveal its captivating luster,” Light marveled inwardly at Moyu’s improvement in combat experience and the Four Major Principles.
“Tomorrow is the last day. I might as well bring it up tonight. Based on my performance during this time, Moyu probably won’t refuse. Hehe.”
Seeing the end of the training approaching, Light began to contemplate the idea of taking Moyu as his disciple.
Believing in his exceptional teaching abilities, he hadn’t considered Moyu’s possible rejection.
He had also decided that if Moyu agreed to his proposal, he would continue to stay at the temple and teach Moyu. Just like nurturing a young plant, he would guide him until Moyu passed the Hunter Exam and officially became a licensed Hunter.
That night, after the practical sparring ended, Moyu lay motionless on the ground.
Light went to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
When Moyu had recovered enough, the table was filled with various meat dishes.
“Moyu, there’s something…” Light placed the utensils in front of Moyu, preparing to bring up the topic of taking him as a disciple. However, a ringing sound suddenly came from Light’s pocket.
Moyu glanced at Light, then continued eating without any concern.
Light took out his phone, pressing it against his cheek after answering the call.
“There’s news about the ‘Phantom Troupe.'”
The voice that came from the phone caused Light’s expression to tighten.
