- Vol. 1 Chapter 10 - I Am A Goddess
Guo De shook his head and felt sorry for his family’s elder for a few seconds. His family’s elder was a mighty city defender, a great hero protecting the people of the region. However, now he had to investigate some rumors, truly wasting his talents on trivial matters.
As the moon passed the willow tips, Lin Tingjun lay on the roof of Wei Chi Feng’s study, in the shape of a large character, his handsome face leaning to one side, completely exhausted, as if he had died. He glanced at Guo De as he left, sighed deeply, and softly said, “Tired,” before falling into a deep sleep.
The night in Qin Prefecture was clear and beautiful, but suddenly rain began to pour down like a torrent. The clouds that were scorching during the day had now released all their contents at night.
The rain fell incessantly throughout the night. Mr. He Xiucai had been sitting under the eaves in front of his house, smoking all night.
When the rain stopped and dawn broke, the roosters crowed.
“Drip, drop,” raindrops fell from the eaves, cutting across He Xiucai’s face, falling into the puddles on the ground, shattering the burden of sorrow on his aged face.
Mr. He Xiucai wiped away a guilty tear, walked quietly to the door of He Shiqi’s room. The old woman had also woken up, brimming with energy and joy, as if they had truly gained a precious daughter-in-law.
She took small steps, feeling a dozen years younger, her face radiating the same lively smile she had in her youth.
She approached her son’s door and gently asked, “Ah Qi, are you awake? Mother has prepared some delicious food for you and that girl.” She looked excitedly at her husband.
However, Mr. He Xiucai wore a worried expression, turned around, and sat back under the eaves, letting out a long sigh.
“Hush.” Suddenly, a faint voice came from inside the room, and the old couple immediately pressed their ears to the door. Then, He Shiqi’s soft voice sounded, “Master hasn’t woken up yet, mother, please don’t make a fuss.”
The old lady instantly became cheerful. “I’ll bring you something delicious right away!”
Inside the room, He Shiqi was leaning against the door, and on the floor lay a worn-out blanket. He Shiqi sat down with a smile, holding his knees, looking at the figure of Lian Youyou lying in a spread-out position on the bed.
By the side of the ethereal lotus pond, the air was filled with an otherworldly aura, and the magic circle slowly evolved as the lotus bud slowly opened. The lotus heart had nine holes, traversing through time and space.
“Where are you from?” a leisurely male voice, clear and melodious, with a hint of sandiness like the resonance of a zither.
Lian Youyou gradually awoke in the faint morning light. Threads of light elegantly entwined her body, like ethereal spider silk weaving its way into her snow-white skin.
“Oh…” He Shiqi crawled to the edge of the bed, his legs crossed, and reached out to gently touch the threads of golden energy, finding them remarkably magical.
As the light dispersed, Lian Youyou sat up and attempted to speak, but instead, a hearty hiccup slipped out: “Hic~~”.
She shook her head, then placed her foot on He Shiqi’s shoulder, and asserted authoritatively, “Go fetch some food for your master, now!”
He Shiqi looked at Lian Youyou in a daze. “Master, you just burped. Eating too much is bad for your stomach, as my mother says.” He Shiqi honestly conveyed, his eyes shining and his smile bright.
Stepping on He Shiqi’s shoulder, Lian Youyou raised an eyebrow. “That’s because your family is poor! Your mother can’t afford to feed you well. You silly fool, go get some food! And open the door, your parents are probably tired of eavesdropping.”
He Shiqi happily got up with a roll, “Okay!”
Of course, carefree He Shiqi didn’t dwell on why his parents were eavesdropping outside. Whatever the master said, he’d do. The master was too good-looking; he’d willingly obey her forever.
As he opened the door, sure enough, his parents were crouched outside. Lin Yuniang had just rushed back from the kitchen. She wanted to listen to the commotion for a bit longer but was caught red-handed by Lian Youyou.
He Shiqi grinned at his parents, saying, “Father, mother, the master is hungry. I’ll get her some food.” With that, he happily bounced off to the kitchen.
The elderly couple remained standing at the door.
“Come in,” a clear and melodious female voice, like a songbird’s trill yet commanding like a phoenix.
The old couple hesitated and then timidly entered. They saw a plainly dressed girl in rough village attire sitting on He Shiqi’s tattered bed. She had two large pigtails and a blue cloth headband. Her right foot rested on the bed, and her left foot was on the ground, exuding an air of authority.
The old He Xiucai and his wife were perplexed. How come this girl sitting here looked different from the girl their son had brought back yesterday? Although they hadn’t seen the girl clearly yesterday, her clothing had indicated she was from a well-off family. Yet today, her clothes were completely different.
Ah, it must be what their silly son did.
The elderly couple exchanged glances, their faces flushed, and their hearts brimming with happiness.
However, they reconsidered and pondered, realizing that the clothes the girl was wearing weren’t from their household, and they hadn’t noticed any luggage on her when their son brought her home yesterday. Where did these clothes suddenly come from?
Lian Youyou’s lips curled into a smirk as she stated, “I’m Lian Youyou, leading a leisurely life. Granny, uh, no. I am a Goddess, the Lotus Goddess of the Divine Realm. Your son encountered me, and that’s why!” “Snap!” Lian Youyou clapped her thigh and stood up, startling the elderly couple.
Lian Youyou pointed towards the elderly pair: “Your family is blessed for 800 lifetimes! I, the goddess, don’t like owing favors. So, tell me, what do you desire?!” Lian Youyou placed a hand on her back, confidently raising her chest and exuding a sense of pride.
After a brief moment of confusion, the elderly couple broke into laughter. They shared a knowing look and clasped hands, privately celebrating the notion that even love could be accompanied by a touch of foolishness.
Alright, alright, alright!
Their son was a fool, and the girl he brought was fine. Although she looked rustic, she was still better-looking than the village girls. It was a blessing to have a daughter-in-law; they couldn’t ask for more. Their requirements for their daughter-in-law were simple: just be a female and capable of laying eggs, which would be even better.
Inadvertently, Lin Yuniang started evaluating Lian Youyou’s buttocks. After all, big buttocks were essential for giving birth. Well, this girl was a bit thin. But no worries, they could fatten her up.
Lian Youyou tilted her head, watching the elderly couple’s gleeful expressions and chuckled. “What’s the matter? Are you going to dance in front of me? Do you want me to provide the rhythm?”
The old couple had no idea what Lian Youyou was saying, which only confirmed their notion that she was a fool.
Lian Youyou grinned and laughed at herself, “Haha, so you want to see me act like a fool.”
“We don’t mind, we don’t mind.” Mr. He Xiucai and his wife waved their hands, “Miss, don’t worry, we’ll take care of you.”
“Lucky you have me, you bunch of pests!” Lian Youyou’s expression was akin to the unpredictable June sky—foolish one moment and fierce the next.
“He Xiucai! Lin Yuniang!” Lian Youyou suddenly shouted at the top of her lungs, resembling the resonance of a bell which promptly dislodged dust from the ceiling.
“Here!” He Xiucai and Lin Yuniang collapsed onto their knees in fear. Both of them knelt down, a perplexed expression on their faces, wondering why they were kneeling like complete imbeciles.
