Handsome Trash - 30
“Eunhyuk.”
“Say it, I’m listening.”
Hyewon felt safe to say she liked him, especially since he was ready to drive all the way to her, without hesitation, after her saying she missed him.
Hyewon has been so inconsistent, but Eunhyuk doesn’t seem to mind at all.
Unrelated questions filled her mind.
“Why do you like me?”
“Because you’re pretty.”
“Do you only like me because of my face?”
“You do have a pretty good face, but you’re also compatible with my d*ck.”
“Do you like me because of s*x?”
“That, too, but…”
He stopped talking, and Hyewon thought he had hung up.
She took her ear away from the phone for a moment, but heard Eunhyuk start speaking again.
“Actually, I just like you, Kang Hyewon. I never really thought about why or why not.”
“… Still, you like me?”
“There’s no reason to dislike you, so I continue to like you.”
Hyewon had a mountain of reasons to dislike him.
The fact he didn’t hate her, despite all the reasons he should, means that she might as well believe that this handsome trash actually has a heart for her.
“My grandfather did all that sh*t and died. It sucks that I have to clean it up.”
“…”
“I didn’t give you the benefit of the doubt. I’m sorry about that, but I’m not sure about the rest.”
“… If I told you from the beginning, you wouldn’t have gone back on your word.”
After Hyewon told Eunhyuk the truth, she thought Eunhyuk would continue to stay until the scheduled end.
Maybe he would stick around a little longer and talk to her some more.
If not, he would give her a gentle hug and some consolation, and that’s all she expected.
However, it didn’t pan out like that at all.
Even after hearing the whole truth, Eunhyuk didn’t say much.
One of the only things he consistently told her was to stop blaming him for his grandfather’s sins.
“How could you have told me? You immediately panicked from fear in front of me.”
“If you understand that, then why are you still being so nice to me?”
“There’s no one to blame here. We’ve already broken up and got back together. I’m going to die if I don’t see you.”
Hyewon didn’t think she would be understood, especially not by Cha Eunhyuk, but he was surprisingly an empathetic son of a bitch.
“I need to talk to you like a normal person, not like a piece of sh*t, so you won’t be scared of me.”
That’s right, he’s a bastard with good social training.
“I’m a piece of sh*t who was born a glutton for punishment and doesn’t know what to say when I’m pissed off. I try not to do that to you, though, believe it or not.”
Her tense body relaxed. Hyewon lay on the bed at an angle, fiddling with the pillowcase, and began to talk to Eunhyuk about this and that.
It was all very trivial.
Just everyday things, or funny stories from their school days.
They talked for more than two hours on the phone.
They talked nonstop for so long that her cheeks were burning from the heat of the phone.
Before she knew it, Cha Eunhyuk was in Daejeon.
“Here.”
At the single word, Hyewon raced down the stairs, tail wagging. She looked like a puppy running happily to its master.
Her steps became faster and faster.
Finally, she saw Eunhyuk, leaning against the wall and pulling out a cigarette.
Her pace slowed to a crawl once she spotted him. When her pace slowed, Eunhyuk pulled the cigarette out of his mouth and slowly walked over to stand in front of Hyewon.
“What are you doing? You stopped running.”
Hyewon pursed her lips and arched an eyebrow. She couldn’t believe the absurdity of the situation and eventually burst into tears.
It was the kindest gesture she had ever received in her entire life.
Cha Eunhyuk, who had traveled for hours to come to a place he didn’t have to, stood in front of her.
“Why are you crying?”
Hyewon’s voice choked and was barely audible as she responded while in his arms.
“Because I can’t believe it.”
Eunhyuk chuckled, pulling her hair back and stroking it.
“It’s cold. Why are you dressed in such thin clothes?”
“I didn’t think about that. When you said you were here, I just ran out.”
“Ah, I see. You came running like a dog.”
Eunhyuk opened his coat and pulled Hyewon into it.
“Go to the car. I’ll be right back. I have a meeting tomorrow morning.”
Hyewon slipped out of Eunhyuk’s coat and sat in the passenger seat.
“Are you not going to sleep before you go to work tomorrow?”
“Why not?”
“At least get some sleep here.”
“I didn’t come here for a sleepover.”
Eunhyuk squeezed Hyewon’s hand, which was chilled from the brief exposure to the cold wind.
“It’s just that… you came all the way here, and I wanted to see you a little more.”
“I’m tired. I haven’t slept more than two hours in two days.”
“Then, let’s just rest.”
“You said you missed me.”
“That’s what you came for? Really?”
Watching her repeat his words in disbelief, Eunhyuk couldn’t help but laugh.
He had to force the corners of his mouth to turn down.
“Uh, that’s what I came for. Really.”
Hyewon reached out with her other hand and covered his eyes.
“… Now, close your eyes.”
As darkness fell over his eyes, Eunhyuk remembered what he had done to Hyewon in Bonjuri.
“It reminds me of that time.”
“Things were different then than they are today. You have to go back soon…”
Eunhyuk grabbed Hyewon’s hand and kissed the back of it between her words.
“I wanted to touch you, the whole time.
“…”
“I almost lost it again. This morning.”
“Even after all this, you want to do it again?”
Hyewon couldn’t help but ask.
They met after two years and were only together for a few days, Hyewon couldn’t believe he wanted to do it again.
At any rate, Kang Hyewon was still naive.
“Are you tired of doing it all the time?”
“You said you were leaving because you were tired of it.”
“Why do you remember me saying something I didn’t mean?”
“Because I didn’t get tired of it. Even when I go to the supply room on the 20th floor of the hotel to clean room 2021, I still think of you. It was enough for you to leave.”
Hyewon can’t tell him how many times she wished the hotel didn’t remind her of various events.
“What happened to that assh*le manager?”
She especially wished the hotel didn’t remind her of that assh*le manager.
“I pressed charges.”
“What? Who?”
“Me… He was tempering with the CCTV, and he had a copy of my dorm room key.”
“What an assh*le.”
The manager may have helped her, but the fact he tried to control and monitor Hyewon’s daily life was unforgivable.
“I’ve already reported him to the company and he’s been kicked out of the dorm. The hotel is going to set up a disciplinary committee to deal with him. I’m still working with him though, so it’s hard.”
It was good that he was kicked out of the dorm, but she didn’t know when he would appear and in what form.
“Do you want me to kick him out or not?”
Since the manager was still working with Hyewon, Eunhyuk was going to get rid of him completely.
“I’m resigning.”
