Chapter 10  Little Fifth is Kidnapped

After their exchange, she quickened her steps to go home.

The sudden wealth of the Li family is not yet known by everyone. If so, how can she take full advantage of the family?

Just as she was thinking about this, she was suddenly stopped by two people, and she recognized who they were. She got so scared that she ended up getting a cold sweat.

This place wasn’t far away from the area where she had talked to the fourth son just now. Who knows how long the two of them had been listening, but looking at their gleaming eyes, she was afraid that they may have heard all of them.

These two are none other than Mrs. Yu and Yu Tiancheng.

They hadn’t gone back to the Li household after making a scene but surely knew that Yu Sheng would definitely have gone to the town to sell the chestnuts.

So they hid near her house, but didn’t think much about it. However, they heard the fourth son say that Yu Sheng, the daughter who recently ignored her family, could afford to buy meat.

Lin Chunya knew how shameless and annoying the two of them were, and when she saw their brutish appearance, she was so frightened that she had to step back away again and again, but still there was no way to avoid them.

Yu Tiancheng punched the tree next to him with his fist. She got so frightened that she almost screamed, but Mrs. Yu covered her mouth in time.

“Shh, don’t scream, or I’ll kill you wench.” Hearing that the Li family actually had food, Yu Tiancheng’s eyes darkened with greed.

Having observed Lin Chunya’s actions, he obviously knows what she is planning to do.

He said in a serious tone, “The things in the Yu family belong to our family. Think carefully. Don’t blame me if I got impolite with you.”

 Only then did Yu Tiancheng let her go.

Mrs. Yu smiled as she explained her plans.

Yu Tiancheng’s face brightened after hearing his mother’s plans. “Mother, you really are outstanding at being able to come up with those plans. Yu Sheng, who doesn’t know what’s good for her, won’t compromise with us, so it has come to this.”

He laughed very excitedly, as he was thinking about their plans being successful.

Well, as for Yu Sheng, she had already anticipated the trouble that would come their way.

They ate noodles for lunch. There was no meat, only a few eggs and some vegetables were added. They didn’t have any condiments in the house, so Yu Sheng could only put on soy sauce and salt, but still the food tasted very satisfying.

Yu Sheng couldn’t help but sigh at the simple dish she had made.

After eating breakfast, the eldest daughter-in-law measured the sizes of the second and third son. 

When it was the fifth child’s turn to be measured, she felt unhappy and hid behind Yu Sheng, “Sister-in-law, little fifth is still young enough to wear my older brothers’ clothes, little fifth doesn’t have to be measured, I don’t need new clothes.”

After hearing little fifth’s words, her second, third, and fourth older brothers’ faces turned sour. They never wanted little fifth to say such stupid things, but thinking about the changes of their mother these past two days, they don’t know what to say anymore.

Yu Sheng felt her heart softened after hearing this. No wonder everyone said that a mother would want to put their caring daughter in a little padded jacket.

‘How nice.’

She caressed little fifth’s head and said in a serious tone, “My sweet child, mother has a lot of clothes already. Although little fifth may be small, she is still a girl and girls should dress beautifully.” 

“Is that so? But little fifth still wants to see mother wear new clothes.” Little fifth bit her lips tightly, seeing that made Yu Sheng’s heart melt.

She has no choice but to show little fifth her clothes.

Although the Li family is relatively poor, the original owner did not treat herself badly. She only wanted to buy things for herself whenever she had silver taels, and even used financial aid from the government for the family.

All in all, she actually has quite a lot of clothes. There are about four or five sets.

Little fifth saw that her mother had a lot of clothes so she stopped making a fuss.

Yu Sheng couldn’t help but pat little fifth’s nose.

The eldest daughter-in-law glanced at the yard, “I did not see the basin at home, little fifth must have gone to the river to wash clothes.”

“She went to the river alone? What if she fell into the river? Stay at home, I’ll go find little fifth.” Yu Sheng then left immediately.

The river in the village is very deep, usually only the adults in the village will go to the river. If a child gets close, they will be carried back by the family and get punished.

The eldest daughter-in-law couldn’t say anything, after seeing her mother-in-law so anxious about little fifth, when she originally wanted to call her for dinner.

‘Mother had really changed so much, usually she would have forced little fifth to wash clothes by the river. I have never seen mother so anxious as this before.’

Thinking of this made her smile of happiness.

‘It’s a good thing that mother has changed. Looking at her current temperament, it seems that you can’t disregard it anymore.’

Yu Sheng arrived at the riverside very quickly, she wandered around the area, but she could not find little fifth anywhere at all, only women chatting and doing laundry.
