Da Li Temple - Chapter 73.1
Chapter 73.1
Daybreak
After leaving Lin Wanqing’s room and turning a corner of the corridor, Su Moyi saw Liang Weiping and Ye Qing marching over this way.
??
“Lord,” Ye Qing bowed to him, “The assassin’s body has been cleaned up, and nothing strange has been found on their body.”
??
Su Moyi was disappointed at his words but turned around to see Liang Weiping on the side, holding a bowl of steaming medicinal soup in his hand.
??
“Where are you going?” He asked knowingly.
??
“We’re going to check on Brother Lin and ask for clues about the assassin.” Liang Weiping replied.
??
Su Moyi couldn’t help but frown. Although Liang Weiping and Lin Wanqing had always referred to each other as brothers, when he heard him call her ‘virtuous brother,’ the scene of meeting them outside the East Market Snack Shop resurfaced before his eyes. So, with a cold face, he snatched the medicine bowl from Liang Weiping’s hand and handed it to Ye Qing. “Inquiring and delivering the medicine, one person will be enough.”
??
After saying this, he put his hands behind his back and cast a bombastic side-eye at Liang Weiping as he traveled past him.
??
“Lord Liang,” Su Moyi’s voice was so cold that it could freeze.
??
Liang Weiping winced.
“Follow up.” Su Mo Yi said.
??
“Ah, ah?” Before Liang Weiping could ask clearly, he saw Lord Su traveling away like a gust of wind. He could only jog to follow. The two went to Lailuo’s room. When they entered, she had just finished bandaging her wounds and was weeping as the doctor applied medicine. Seeing the two men come, she barely managed to soothe her wrinkled brows, glancing at Su Moyi with her cold eyes.
Su Moyi laughed lightly but did not care much. Seeing that he wanted to sit, Liang Weiping hurriedly drew a round stool from the side and gave it to him.
??
“Tell us about your identity.” He straightened the train of his robe, his tone calm.
??
Lailuo ignored him and knocked the empty bowl in her hand.
??
Su Moyi was not angry either, and with his usual calm demeanor, he looked at her and continued to ask, “Who exactly are you?”
??
The clanking sound of knocking bowls suddenly stopped, and Lailuo looked up at him. Her blue eyes were like the deepest ocean water, calm but threatening. She laughed coldly and said unkindly, ”Is the Lord blind? Who else could Lailuo be? Of course, it’s a human.”
??
Clang!
Liang Weiping’s legs instantly weakened when he heard Lailuo’s answer. When he sat down, he bumped into the table, the cups and bowls on top of it rattling all over the place. However, the two’s emotions were quite subtle, and they did not seem to hear anything. They were still facing each other, the state of the battlefield.
??
Su Moyi wasn’t annoyed. Picking his lips and smiling, with a deep voice, he slowly said, “In that case, I should ask differently.”
??
“Song Zhengxing and Wang Hu were both killed by you, right?” The certainty of his tone turned a question into a statement.
??
Lailuo ignored him and began to knock on the bowls again, the clanking sound seeming cluttered and eerie in the silent night.
??
Su Moyi paused and said, ”Song Zhengxing was killed in prison with a thin branch run through his left and right ears; Wang Hu had his throat slashed with a sword, cutting most of his neck open. Only professionally trained assassins can do such a ruthless and precise maneuver.”
Lailuo expressionlessly continued playing with the bowl in her hand, uninterested in Su Moyi’s words.
??
Su Moyi glanced at her and continued, “Some years ago, I heard of a female assassin who kills as she pleases and never repeats her methods. She can use everything, and her strike costs a human life. She also has a remarkably apt name, Madman.”
??
“Says a lot about you, doesn’t it?”
??
Click! She knocked the white porcelain bowl in her hand, and Lailuo looked up at Su Moyi in the eerie candle flame.
??
“Yes, it’s me.” She smiled in relief, admitting it readily.
??
Su Moyi sank his face at these words, and his tone steepened in coldness, “You are King Liang’s people?”
??
Lailuo froze, and a trace of bewilderment flashed through her blue eyes, “I am not one of his people.”
??
“Then why did you kill for him?” Su Moyi pursued.
??
“I didn’t kill for him.” Lailuo defended, “I just like killing people. I kill people, and he gives me money. It’s similar to when you guys are in trouble and go to a guru for enlightenment and chanting. Can you say that the guru is your person?”
??
“…… “Su Moyi was stunned by this crooked understanding of Lailuo but continued to pursue, “Then when you killed Wang Hu, you slaughtered the entire Prison because of the ……”
??
“Because I was in a bad mood that day,” Lailuo said.
??
“……” Su Moyi became speechless for the first time when interrogated the prisoner.
??
Lailuo, however, sighed, unimpressed, “They wouldn’t let me kill Concubine Zhao the way I wanted, so I wasn’t pleased. After that, they said that I was not doing things cleanly and asked me to go to the prison to kill another person.” She paused and said with a sincere face, “So I was in a bad mood and killed a few more people by hand that day.”
??
“But when you did that, it was like spoiling their whole plan.”
“Oh?” Lailuo frowned and thought, “Really? No wonder the person who gave the money that day had such a bad attitude.”
??
“So you ……” Su Moyi probed.
??
“I then killed him.” Lailuo wriggled her nose.
??
“…… ” Su Moyi finally realized why she got the name Madman. She is an unapologetic, crazy person. He stabilized his mind and said, “Then why did you approach Lin Wanqing?”
??
“I want to take her away.”
??
Su Moyi frowned at this, his face as cold as ice, “Why?”
