Da Li Temple - Chapter 66.1
Chapter 66.1
Sudden Change
Another few times of absurdity.
??
The sound of the night watchman’s gong leisurely roamed through the wind and snow; the charcoal fire gradually extinguished, and the clouds and rain finally rested. It was already five o’clock by the time Su Moyi wiped her sticky lower body.
??
Lin Wanqing has long been so tired that she can’t even lift her eyelids, and in a trance, she seems to see Su Moyi getting up to put on his clothes. She reached and yanked a piece of plain white clothes swept across the bed, “You want to go out?”
??
Su Moyi was stunned; only then did he notice she was awake. He nodded and turned sideways towards the bed; without pulling that piece of clothing, he softly said, “After Song Zhengxing got captured, the news will spread throughout the court tomorrow. There are fears of dissent from all sides, and I should be by the Emperor’s side now.”
??
“Hm,” Lin Wanqing answered, letting go of the corner of his coat.
??
Su Moyi got up, and the jade hooks on the curtain shook, making a crunching sound.
Suddenly, she remembered something and got up after him, slightly anxious, “I …… have something I want to say to you.”
??
“What?” Su Moyi turned to look at her and smiled, his organizing hands not stopping. “Regretting after signing?”
??
“That, that’s not ……” Lin Wanqing hesitated, tugging the brocade quilt tightly, “I, I want to say to you …… “
??
“Alright.” A gentle kiss fell on the tip of her brow. Su Moyi leaned over and cupped her face, his thumb shallowly rubbing the ends of her eyes that still retained a reddish tinge, smiling, “If you have something to say, wait for me to come back and say it. In the coming decades, I’ll give you the time to say it slowly.”
??
A storm was brewing, and now was not the best time to tell him about her family affairs. Lin Wanqing hesitated for a moment and nodded.
??*
The morning sunlight is warm, and the snow accumulated during the night melted, leaving only a string of sharp ice on the eaves, like a stalk lurking in the dark.
??
As Su Moyi expected, Song Zhengxing’s arrest news spread throughout Sheng City the following day. Reportedly, those who usually rely on the old courtiers gathered before daybreak in front of the Danfeng Gate, waiting for orders for fear of missing the hot insider.
??
Su Moyi stayed in the palace for three days, during which time he only let someone bring a handwritten letter out, urging her to eat well and not cause trouble; he is now in the palace and cannot get out; he can not go to the capital prison to bail for people. Lin Wanqing rolled her eyes. Her face was disdainful, but her heart was sweet.
Outside were treacherous clouds, but the Da Li Temple was still. Lin Wanqing has nothing to do, flicking flowers and teasing the dog occasionally, leading Si Yu to her yard to stroll around, helping to create some opportunities for him and Xiao Bai.
??
That evening, after dinner, she walked around the Da Li Temple with Si Yu and Xiao Bai.
??
Si Yu followed Xiao Bai and dragged Lin Wanqing. One person and two dogs unknowingly traveled to the dungeon where the suspects were detained in Da Li Temple and coincidentally ran into a busy group of magistrates.
??
“What is it?” Lin Wanqing walked over, caught a jailer, and asked.
??
The man recognized Lin Wanqing and said with a bow, “The Emperor ordered Order Song to be locked up in Da Li Temple Prison while waiting for trial, so I have to make some preparations in advance.”
??
Lin Wanqing was aghast and hurriedly asked him, “When will he come?”
??
The jailer thought momentarily and said, “Tomorrow morning.” After saying this, he arched his hand, bowed again, and then busied himself.
After receiving such news, Lin Wanqing felt like floating in the clouds when she walked back.
??
If Song Zhengxing is in Da Li Temple Prison, she will finally be able to inquire about the case of the Xiao family. When Su Moyi returns, she can eventually let go of her worries and tell the truth about everything. Between thoughts, her footsteps lightened up.
??
The sky is already dark. After the working hours, Da Li Temple is quite empty. The red plums diagonally trail the small courtyard’s wall like fire, making the gloomy courtyard brightly colored.
??
“Miss– Lin Recorder,” Under the wall, the blue figure smiled at Lin Wanqing, shaking the food box in her hand, “I came to bring some food to Recorder Lin.”
??
After lighting the room’s oil lamps, as usual, Lin Wanqing sought out two braziers, placing them on either side of the couch.
??
Lailuo took the lychee soup from the food box and passed it over in front of Lin Wanqing. She couldn’t help but be surprised, “It’s cold. How can you find the lychee?”
??
Lailuo smiled and casually said, “This isn’t actual lychee; it’s just a few herbs that are put together with cinnamon, ginger, and cloves to make the lychee flavor.”
??
“You can do like this?” Lin Wanqing was curious and sniffed it; it smelled like lychee.
??
Lailuo took a spoon from the food box and handed it to her. “Taste it.”
??
Lin Wanqing took it and said, “You don’t have to call me Lin Recorder when no one is around.” After saying that, she casually sipped and remembered something, so she held the bowl and asked, “How did you know that I like to eat lychee? I seem to ……” She thought momentarily and nodded as if confirming, “I never tell you, ah.”
A glimmer of a different color flashed across Lailuo’s blue eyes, but her smiling face quickly masked it. She ruffled the wick of the oil lamp, “Someone from the Heir Mansion told me.”
??
“Heir Mansion?” Lin Wanqing asked.
“En,” Lailuo responded, “Maybe it’s the Heir’s order.”
??
“Oh ……” The hand holding the porcelain bowl trembled. Lin Wanqing buried her head lower to block her unconsciously burning cheeks.
??
Lailuo looked everything in her eyes. Her eyes darkened momentarily. A moment later, she said, “There’s something I didn’t tell you.”
