- Chapter 7 - Part 1 - Matcha Frozen Cheesecake (1/2)
The consumption rate of the fried chicken was extremely fast. Not long after, Lin Yu bid farewell to everyone and returned home. When she came back to the shelter the next evening, it was already dusk.
After the painful lesson from last night, the disheartened Jiu Jiu decided to stay indoors, comforting himself with dew from around the world. To Lin Yu’s surprise, Mino was waiting for her at the central square.
After returning home last night, she had taken the time to check Mino’s containment file. When she saw the words “contact phobia,” she was taken aback.
For succubi, seduction was an irresistible physiological instinct, and this behavior almost always led to physical contact. In other words, Mino had to repeatedly expose herself to situations that made her nauseous or even faint.
According to the records, she frequently felt sick or even fainted after attempting to seduce someone. Almost every time, she ended up making herself feel uncomfortable and nauseous.
Very few could resist a succubus’s powerful allure. Imagine, just as the person on the receiving end starts developing feelings for her, and as they’re about to make physical contact to further their intimacy. They suddenly touch her and she starts trembling and retching uncontrollably.
This would undoubtedly leave a significant psychological impact on the other person! Their self-esteem as men would be utterly shattered!
Lin Yu greeted her briefly and then proceeded to distribute the dessert from the white box to everyone. Dracula eagerly received it and promptly opened the packaging.
A vibrant shade of green, the dessert emitted a refreshing aroma that cut through the heavy summer air. Delicately shaped rectangular pieces of dessert lay quietly in the box, adorned with a few round red beans.
The deep red combined with the lively green, creating a sharp contrast that not only provided a visual treat but also promised a delightful experience for the taste buds.
Lin Yu squinted and smiled, “This is matcha frozen cheesecake. While it still has a bit of chill to it, go ahead and enjoy.”
The dessert’s verdant color and precise shape made Dracula hesitate to cut into it. He paused for three seconds before picking up the spoon beside the box.
Matcha frozen cheesecake, as the name suggests, is a mixture of cheese, matcha powder, milk, cookies, and whipped cream that is set in a mold and frozen in a refrigerator.
After being taken out of the refrigerator for about twenty minutes, the dessert was now at its prime—still slightly chilled from the freezing. Yet softening slightly due to the surrounding warmth, it was no longer too cold and stiff.
As the spoon entered his mouth, Dracula’s eyes widened.
The harmonious blend of the creaminess of the cheese, the bitterness of matcha, and the sweetness of the red beans created a multidimensional delight for the taste buds. The rich sweetness prompted him to instinctively curl his tongue, as if trying to capture and envelop the scattered flavors.
“Must you be so dramatic? Even a dignified vampire like you is reduced to acting like this over human food. Look at your dignity.”
Mino scoffed and lazily put the matcha cheesecake into her mouth. The moment her tongue touched the cake, her body stiffened, and she imitated his expression, widening her eyes.
The coldness melted between her tongue and palate, and the matcha accentuated the silky smooth sensation. As the dessert slid down her throat, a refreshing aura permeated her body, dispelling the summer heat.
Ah, it’s truly delicious.
While the box contained only a small portion, Dracula was reluctant to finish it quickly. He savored each bite, using conversation to prolong the experience, “Lin Yu, did you know? An angel arrived at the shelter yesterday.”
No one knew better than her.
Lin Yu feigned ignorance, “An angel?”
“Actually, it’s a genetically mutated bird person. But from what I know, their race generally has very high aesthetics,” Mino’s face reddened with excitement as she talked about attractive members of the opposite sex, “If I could be with them…”
“Imagine the sensation of their large wings brushing against your body,” Ling Xi smirked, purposefully emphasizing his tone, “Fluffy, soft, every feather so gentle and warm.”
Mino’s face turned pale, and she crouched in the corner. She retching in disgust, before weakly flipping him the middle finger.
“I heard they brought him back with the special operations team.” Dracula pondered for a moment and then turned his gaze to Ling Xi. “Speaking of the special operations team, didn’t their captain die not too long ago? Do you know what happened?”
Lin Yu bit her spoon, smiled cryptically, and replied, “That should be called ‘sacrifice.'”
“How would I know?” Ling Xi rolled his eyes. “Being part of the special operations team is already a high-risk occupation, so death isn’t uncommon. I remember the previous captain also died in an accident. But it’s strange, both of them disappeared without a trace, and the news was all suppressed by the organization.”
Lin Yu’s right hand, holding the spoon, and suddenly tightened.
She was about to ask more about the special operations team when her train of thought was interrupted by a melodious phone ringtone.
The ringtone was a clean and gentle piano melody. Dracula teased, “This song really suits you.”
“Someone recommended it to me,” Lin Yu paused for a moment, her eyes hinting at a trace of shadow. As she took her phone out of her pocket, “Sorry, I need to take this call.”
The caller was Li Mobai, a young researcher.
Since Lin Yu was new to the shelter, she wasn’t very familiar with the staff. She had only exchanged a few words with this person, and she hadn’t expected him to call her.
It wasn’t until she walked out of the central square that she pressed the answer button, “Hello.”
The young man’s voice sounded rushed and anxious, “Hello, hello! Nice to meet you! Miss Lin, do you remember the angel you brought back last night?”
Lin Yu chuckled, “Mr. Li, I haven’t reached Alzheimer’s yet, so I can still remember things from yesterday. How is he doing now?”
“I-I’m sorry, I’m not very good at talking.”
He seemed a bit flustered and his voice softened, “His condition isn’t very good. His body and mind have suffered considerable damage. You’ve seen those wounds, I assume. As for his psychological state… Well, those people who took the angel brainwashed him. Now… he’s a bit abnormal.”
“Abnormal?”
“Yes, exactly,” he stumbled over his words, seeming a bit shy, “He uses very intimate actions to please everyone who gets close to him like a pet. Apart from that, he strongly resists eating and going outside. He trembles uncomfortably in sunlight. In my opinion, his habits of living in a windowless room have deeply ingrained in his mind, and it’s hard to correct in a short period.”
Lin Yu listened quietly and asked with a hint of confusion, “But why did you call me for this? I’m not a psychologist.”
“He asked me about you, and I thought…” He hesitated and then continued with a firm tone, “He wants to see you.”
She didn’t show much emotion about this, responding with just two words, “Nestling behavior.”
Newly hatched birds would consider the first creature they saw as their mother. Applied to humans, it meant feeling strong attachment to and trust in someone who had shown kindness.
The angel had been imprisoned and tortured by the club owner since losing his memories. After Lin Yu rescued him from the locked room, he might unconsciously develop a dependence and trust in her.
“He currently avoids contact with outsiders, but you might be able to communicate with him normally.” Li Mobai sighed, “So, Miss Lin, could you spare some time to come to the sixth underground floor? The room number is 280. I’m really counting on you.”
He seemed like a worried father fussing over his son.
Lin Yu inexplicably remembered some things from a long time ago. The deep, shimmering waters in her dark eyes revealed a slight curve at the corner of her mouth, “Sure, I’ll be right there.”

Li Mobai clearly didn’t expect her to arrive so quickly, and he blinked in surprise when he saw Lin Yu in front of the room door.
