- Chapter 15 - Part 1 - Rose Lychee Mille-Feuille (1/2)
The rose mille-feuille had quickly disappeared, and only the last piece remained.
Dracula resisted the urge to claim them all for himself and glanced at the ever-serious Lin Yinge.
Everyone else had contented, chubby, and happy looks on their faces while he stood by, observing with deep brown eyes full of disdain. He seemed as out of place as a serial killer infiltrating a children’s cooking show which created an unsettling contrast.
He burped, “Won’t you have a bite?”
Lu Yinge crossed his arms in front of his chest, and disdainfully sneered, “There’s nothing redeeming about these overly sweet foods. Only women and children like them.”
Oh, look at this guy trying to be cool.
Dracula patted his shoulder with an affectionate elder’s expression. Well, a twenty-year-old kid would always want to stand out; he, as a several hundred-year-old ancestor could understand that.
Only when Lu Yinge turned around with an almost mocking smile while holding Tuantuan did he realize something was off.
—That kid must be mocking him, right! What’s wrong with men enjoying desserts! He’s not slow-witted, that’s why he didn’t react!

After saying goodbye to everyone, Lin Yu didn’t immediately go home. Instead, she took the elevator to the underground sixth floor.
The last piece of cake was reserved for her as the cook, but Lin Yu understood the principle of “too much dessert makes you feel sick.” So, she decided to give it to someone who claimed to like sweets.
With the iris information recorded by the system, the iron door opened with a ding. She gently pushed the door open, and her gaze swept over the snow-white walls inside.
The room was entirely different from the oppressive and horrifying scene she had witnessed the first time. The bloodstains were completely cleaned up, and the orderly and simple furniture was neatly arranged which gave no hint of the hellish and terrifying atmosphere from before.
The young man lying on the bed had not yet awakened. She gradually approached, her footsteps as light as feathers brushing over the floor which made no sound.
Chi Yu used to be extremely handsome and well-behaved, but his lips were always curved with a mocking cold smile. His eyes were gloomy, lacking the youthful vitality. He also easily gave people an eerie feeling.
In his deep sleep, he shed the vigilance and hostility he had when awake. His long eyelashes cast gentle dark gray shadows, his slightly pursed thin lips devoid of any curvature, and pale almost to the point of being bloodless. The soft white light from the lamp fell gently on his thin face which significantly softened the aggressive facial features.
Peaceful and tranquil with a kind of gentle beauty.
This feeling reminded her of someone, even though they were entirely different in appearance and temperament. She couldn’t help but think of him.
Lin Yu stood at the head of the bed and observed him for a while. She was about to take out the cake from her bag when she suddenly sensed an extremely light and fast rustling sound in front of her.
Someone suddenly yanked her collar which caused her whole body to tilt forward uncontrollably. Luckily, she reacted quickly, supporting herself against the wall with her palm to stabilize her posture.
Chi Yu didn’t know when he had leaned back against the head of the bed, moving so stealthily that even she didn’t notice.
Lin Yu’s heart fluttered slightly when she saw a pair of pitch-black willow-shaped eyes. The owner of those eyes clearly wasn’t fully awake yet; his dim pupils were filled with confusion and simmering anger. It wasn’t until he saw her face that his gaze finally brightened slightly, and he laboriously uttered a single word, “You…”
The scent of milk became increasingly pronounced, and Lin Yu was maintaining eye contact with him, squinted and smiled, “Do we really have to chat this close?”
His pupils are so close suddenly tightened, and the young man let go of her collar. A rush of heat emanated from behind his ear, and his blushing face was covered by disheveled black hair.
“Sorry, it’s a subconscious defense mechanism,” he coughed lightly, and weakly chuckling, “Are you shy or something?”
Compared to the hoarse and deep voice from before, he had finally returned to the clear and youthful voice that suited a young person. His voice was especially soft, possibly due to his weakened state. And under the influence of his smile, it even had a hint of tenderness like a cat’s claw gently scratching at one’s eardrums.
Lin Yu didn’t answer that question but instead lowered her head and took out the small white box containing the cake, handing it to him. “Can’t finish it all, so it’s yours.”
After thanking her, Chi Yu took it and as he opened the packaging, he chuckled softly, “Rose mille-feuille with lychee, huh?”
This guy actually has a refined palate.
She lazily leaned against the wall, raising her eyebrows with slight surprise. “You should try it.”
The young man’s fingers were slender and fair with visible veins on the back of his hand. It made Lin Yu think of the day when the room was filled with bloodstains.
