Cang Lan Dao - Chapter 18.3
Chapter 18.3
I trusted you, so don’t you —
Before he finished his words, Luo Wanqing chopped down with her blade. The blade was bitterly cold, yet Qin Jue didn’t budge. He looked at Luo Wanqing with a smile on his face.
The blade stopped at the top of Qin Jue’s forehead. Luo Wanqing calmly spoke, “For myself.”
Luo Wanqing practiced the most basic techniques every night and carried Qin Jue on her back during the day.
From the first day Qin Jue got on her back, it was as if he had lost his legs and never wanted to walk again. Every day, he begged and pleaded with Luo Wanqing to carry him.
At first, Luo Wanqing wanted to hit him, but later, she got used to it. His weight was strange. According to reason, his weight will become heavier over time, and her physical strength get weaker. But his weight was the same after carrying him for a day. It wasn’t so exhausting that she could not take him, but it wasn’t light eighter.
She carried him for a few days in a row. One day, when she held a stone and returned to build a stove and fire, she realized she could move what used to be heavy for her. She suddenly felt that carrying him wasn’t a bad thing. They traveled day and night for most of the month in this manner, making half of the journey.
Early morning, when she carried Qin Jue, he saw the town from afar. He sighed and said, “I’m almost out of wine. I want to drink so badly.”
Luo Wanqing ignored him and continued onward. Qin Jue added: “I want to eat roast chicken, I want to buy new clothes, I want to buy pastries ……”
“Don’t even think about it,” Luo Wanqing heard him wanting to go into the city, “Going into the city is too troublesome and will delay time.”
Luo Wanqing remembered the last time he went into the city to buy those ‘great achievements’ and said: “You stroll for a day!”
“Then you go!” Qin Jue immediately said, “I’ll wait for you in the outskirts. Buy the things I want.”
“Not going.” Luo Wanqing refused without hesitation.
Qin Jue wrapped his arms around her neck and began to look at her face, curtly saying, “Miss Liu, leader Liu, sister Liu? Do me a favor, please. Help me buy something. I can’t go on living in the middle of nowhere, and you need to buy something, ah, and ……”
“Okay.” Luo Wanqing was annoyed by him. Having thought they were almost out of oil and her worn-out shoes, she finally voiced: “I’ll buy. Wait for me here.”
“Alright, here’s the list.” Qin Jue handed her a densely written piece of paper and gratefully said, “Thanks.”
Luo Wanqing expressionlessly accepted the paper and stuffed it into her bosom, setting him down and memorizing the location before turning her head towards the town.
She had long confiscated the gold beads and didn’t need to ask for them. These days, she had carefully learned to recognize directions from Qin Jue. It wouldn’t be much of a problem to pick him up.
It would be too much trouble if Qin Jue went into the city to buy all his messy stuff. She only needed to buy the important ones.
Luo Wanqing opened the paper and glanced at the densely written list. This man’s handwriting was beautiful, clear, and looks pleasing to the eye. He could even write beautifully using charcoal. If he used a pen, it would be better. But a man writes in small (*) character —
T/N: ?? (xiaokai)refers to small characters in regular script. There are three sizes of Chinese characters in ancient times. Big, medium, and small.
Luo Wanqing thought of his personality and felt normal. She glanced at the items on it. Sure enough, they were all out of tune. But when she looked at them, she found that he had written some herbs, which seemed to nourish yin and invigorate blood circulation, remove blood stasis, and relieve pain, which used to —
Luo Wanqing’s gaze landed on the words ‘menstrual belt.’ She paused in her steps and suddenly felt that the paper had a burning temperature. She realized that those medicines seemed to be used to stop the pain of menstruating women.
She had been in prison for so long. She still had her period in the beginning, and at that time, she was embarrassed and in pain. Luckily, her mother bribed the jailer to send in a cotton cloth and tried her best to keep that bit of dignity. Then perhaps, it was too cold or too hungry, and her menstruation stopped.
Qin Jue probably didn’t know about this, so he listed these miscellaneous things.
Luo Wanqing held this long-lost care and goodwill. After feeling overwhelmed, she suddenly preferred Qin Jue to be indifferent toward her. So she may still know how to deal with him. She held the paper, pursed her lips, and finally placed it in her bosom. When she took a step forward, she collided with the woman walking towards her, and without the other party realizing it, she took the document in her sleeve.
After getting the document, Luo Wanqing opened it, looked at the name, and entered the city. She took the list and bought the stuff from around the city.
At this time, Qin Jue was sitting alone in the wilderness, holding a wine jug and shaking it, listening to the sound of the leftovers inside, and slowly said, “She has been gone for so long, and you guys still not coming out?”
Four swordsmen walked out of the surrounding forest, followed by eight women holding musical instruments and then a whole bunch of men in black. They surrounded Qin Jue alone in the center.
Qin Jue glanced at them and laughed out loud, “The left and right ambassadors haven’t come yet? Is your Feng Yu Pavilion failing? Giving you guys half a month, yet only calling in such a small number of people?”
“Qin Jue, Liu Xiniang isn’t even here. What are you so arrogant about?” The stoutest swordsman at the front coldly voiced, “If not because of her, you would have died long ago.”
“Yeah, I’m scared to death.” Qin Jue gobbled up the wine and smiled as he turned his head to look at the crowd, “But the Heavenly Jade Four Blades and the Deadly Eight Delights are all here, so I’m sure you all should know who the person who’s going to kill me is, right?”
“Of course.” The woman in red holding the lute plucked the strings, “When you go down to the Yellow Springs, this elder sister will tell you.”
“You can’t afford to be my sister,” Qin Jue’s eyes were slightly cold, “Don’t look for death ahead of time.”
The red-clothed woman’s complexion instantly changed as she raised her hand in a wave, her zither sounding like a sword as she raced towards Qin Jue!
Qin Jue leaped up in a sideways flip, tapping his toes and landing firmly on the stone he was sitting on. However, the stone seemed to have been slashed by a knife, instantly exploding.
Qin Jue hung in mid-air, raising his hand. The surrounding winds started to blow, and the trees moved. Qin Jue uses his two fingers as a sword. Then, an invisible Qi sword pointed to the ground, and the sense of oppression spread silently toward the surroundings, with him as the center. He stared at the crowd and laughed: “Only this? Have all of you arrived?”
“Dao Sect’s Invisible Sword?!” The woman in red exclaimed in shock at the sight.
Qin Jue smiled, “Smart ass.”
“You’re not Qin Jue?” The leader immediately reacted.
