Breaking a Romantic Fantasy Villain - Episode 16. Snow White
Episode 16. Snow White
* * *
Snow White.
She was as white and beautiful as her name.
I expected her to look like a gorilla, like Vendankru.
She was far from it.
“You speak the Imperial language well. My name is Maurice Dmitri.”
I extended my hand to her.
Snow White lowered her eyes and grasped my hand in hers.
It was a small, soft hand.
Vendancru, who was watching, nodded satisfiedly.
“C’mon, you make a very nice pair.”
“Chief, shall we perform the ceremony?”
The subordinate next to him asked.
“The ceremony is ready.”
“Yes? But isn’t she a princess, the one and only, and she’s leaving to meet her prince?”
“It’s not a formal marriage.”
“It’s not a formal marriage, then what is it?”
“As a gift to the man who defeated me as chieftain.”
The eyes of the subordinate widened.
“Really, is that man so strong that the chieftain has proclaimed defeated?”
“Yes, he is. Even if the guards and I fight together, there is no guarantee of victory.”
“Then…….”
“I am sending you to receive the seed of a strong man.”
“You have made a difficult decision.”
“I’m rather happy with it. If my daughter bears the seed of such a strong man, it will only make the Krui stronger in the end.”
Vendancru exhaled a heated breath.
“It will not be long before I see her again.”
My eye is drawn to Snow White, but my ears are drawn to Vendancru’s words.
I can hear him.
He imagines a future for his clan, one in which they will become stronger through the birth of babies bearing my seed.
I had a feeling that I had backed down too quickly.
To even consider such an arrogant plan.
The Krui are looking for powerful genes. It was a well-known story.
My ancestors.
I didn’t mean to give it to you, but you were already eating the kimchi.
I had no intention of being used.
I wondered, ‘How can I use them to my advantage?’
I paused for a moment.
“I’ve fulfilled all my promises, so I’ll let you go.”
“Of course.”
“Father, daughter, I’ll let you go now.”
I watched the father and daughter say their final goodbyes.
They exchanged no pleasantries as they bid their goodbyes.
I hugged Snow White when I was sure they were done.
“Oh.”
“Hold on to my neck because we’re going to fly.”
I slapped her across the back of the neck.
She quickly wrapped her arms over my neck.
I took out into the sky once I was sure I had a firm grip.
“Gah!”
In amazement, Snow White flew deeper into my arms.
My nose was stimulated by the pleasant smell of juniper.
It had a fresh scent that was unlike anything made with makeup.
“Are you scared?”
“Oh, no…….”
She said in a creepy tone.
It was a terrifying voice to anyone who heard it.
“You can be honest with me.”
“No… No.”
I pretended to be unconcerned, despite the fact that her skin was shivering.
“Okay then.”
I returned to the camp after picking up Snow White.
She didn’t bother to pull away from my arms on the way back.
“Minister, who is she?”
When we arrived at Baltan Castle, the Marquis de Romero pointed behind me to Snow White.
“She is the daughter of the chief of the Croix.”
“What?”
He squinted his eyes, as if he wasn’t sure what was going on.
“She was given to me in exchange for their retreat.”
“And?”
“I fought the chief, and I won.”
“Ah…….”
He gave a rueful nod.
The Marquis de Romero was well-versed in the habits and customs of the northern barbarians.
You can only protect yourself if you know who your enemy is.
Even the Empire’s swordmasters worked against the Krui leader.
To defeat him, to be recognized, and to give his daughter to him.
What kind of skill does she have?
The Marquis couldn’t possibly guess.
“Are you returning to the palace immediately?”
“I don’t suppose there’s anything else for me to do?”
“I don’t think there’s anything I need to do now, is there?”
“That’s right.”
“I’ll take it up with the emperor and publish it myself.”
“Thank you.”
I saluted the Marquis de Romero and proceeded to the portal that had been set up.
I asked Snow White as I stood in front of the portal gate.
“Have you ever used a portal before?”
She made a shaky motion with her head.
“I see.”
He wrapped a mana layer over her body.
It was meant to minimize whatever mana sickness she could get from the gateway.
“Be careful. If you’re not used to mana, it can be a bit uncomfortable.”
“Thanks.”
I returned to the magical tower after passing through the portal.
Before dealing with the problems in the West and East, I went to my office to find a location for Snow White to stay for a bit.
“Minister, I’ve been waiting for you!”
Jane had prepared tea and refreshments for three, as if she had anticipated their arrival.
“Have you been watching?”
“Of course, and I saw the intense fight you two had, although fierce is Mr. Vendankru’s personal opinion.”
Jane laughed and covered her mouth.
“By the way, I didn’t think you’d take me up on that offer, you could have just ignored it and used magic.”
Jane huffed, her voice too low to be heard by Snow White.
“It’s annoying. Killing a lot of people isn’t my thing.”
“Oh, you’re so sweet.”
“I feel that way sometimes, but I don’t understand your standards.”
“It’s not because you want a pretty wife, is it? The way you’ve been acting lately, I think you’re trying to follow in Casanova’s footsteps. The Emir’s got one, and you’ve got Seria and Veronis and now Snow White?”
“I don’t know about the others, but don’t get the Emir involved, I’m really done with her.”
“So you’re saying everyone else is okay besides her?”
She gave a clever smile.
I didn’t respond.
I couldn’t shake the idea that speaking with Jane would dehydrate me.
“Be quiet and take care of Snow White. I’ll go take care of everything.”
She called out urgently as I was about to leave her behind.
“Where are you going?”
“I still have work to do. Stay with Jane, she’s an outgoing woman, you won’t be uncomfortable. It’ll be a day or so, so don’t wait for me.”
It’s an apartment with a bathroom, so staying there for the day wouldn’t be too difficult.
“Oh, okay.”
I passed through the portal once more and traveled to the West.
Dealing with the western rebel force, which was based in Bengal, was as simple as withdrawing a penny from my pocket.
The entire army surrendered and laid down their arms the minute I killed the Earl of Bengal, who was leading the army.
The same could be said of the bandits in the east.
When they heard I had passed through the portal, they marched their men forward.
The many fireballs that lit up the sky drove them away.
The robbers’ experience ended the next day when their leader descended with a white flag.
“Well done.”
He stepped through the portal, his soldiers staring in amazement.
I was used to these stares by this point.
Everyone who had witnessed my magic on the field had given me that expression.
It’s unsurprising that the bandit I’d been fighting for months was destroyed by a single spell.
“Good work.”
I returned my attention to the magical tower after a quick salute to the soldiers.
“We’ve destroyed them all, thanks to the glory of your majesty.”
“C’mon, you’re a minister, you’re very reliable.”
“You’re too kind.”
“Is the south okay? I’ve heard reports of tornadoes.”
“I think we can wait and see. If it’s a natural storm, it should pass soon.”
“If the Minister of Magic has that figured out, I’ll take your word for it.”
The emperor nodded.
“I can’t just send a man who solved everything in two days away.”
The Emperor snapped his fingers in delight, and maids from outside the door hurried in.
They clutched gleaming jewelry in their hands.
“This is my gift to you. I refuse in advance.”
“Thank you.”
“Oh, and that includes the maids with the jewelry. This is a prestigious minister’s mansion, and there shouldn’t be more than one maid.”
He was outright planting people.
But she couldn’t say no.
“Your majesty’s virtue is like the sky.”
“C’mon, of course.”
I was allowed to leave the palace when the emperor smiled and gave his blessing.
I said as soon as I got out of the palace.
“Go back first.”
I had the maids return to the mansion ahead of time.
Then, claiming that I still had work to do, I made my way to the tower.
“Ah, you took long enough, keeping the lady waiting for two days.”
Jane rushed in as I entered the office.
Snow White sat beside her, dressed in an imperial robe.
Her light skin was enhanced by a yellowish outfit.
The br*asts bulging from beneath the yellow dress.
They weren’t big, but their curves were beautiful.
Her whole appearance reminded me of a cold lemonade.
Her skin was as soft as an apple.
“Is it hot? The weather in the Empire must seem hot to a northerner.”
With my magic, I created a cool breeze over her.
Her hot cheeks, however, were not eased.
“Ugh, this is so frustrating.”
Jane thumped her chest and talked to me telepathically.
Snow White, you’re not blushing because you’re hot. You’re blushing out of embarrassment.
She is aware of it.
But she’s simply pretending she doesn’t.
Snow White is trying to steal my seed.
I didn’t need to become a part of that.
“Take a break. Let’s have a cup of tea.”
“I’ll do it.”
Jane poured jasmine tea for me.
I took a moment to enjoy the tea’s beautiful aroma.
I overheard Snow White and Jane talking.
“In my tribe, it was traditional for the men to propose to the women with their game.”
“Oh, so women couldn’t propose?”
“Yes, they could propose with a pair of pants or gloves they made themselves.”
The two women appeared to be at peace with each other, as if they had bonded more quickly than I had anticipated.
I tried to sleep by closing my eyes.
“By the way, Minister, isn’t your work done now, and you can return to your mansion?”
I couldn’t see past the imperial palace, where mana itself was at war.
As if the Emperor wasn’t aware he had a spy on him.
It was about that time.
“Jane.”
“Yes?”
“To check on my mansion.”
“Yes?”
“Project an image into my mind of what is currently happening in the mansion.”
“I can’t see inside because of the magic circle you put on it.”
“I’ve removed the outline of the circle, so you should be able to see.”
“Is something wrong?”
My will was communicated telepathically.
I need to confirm that the Emperor has assigned a spy on me.
“Oh, I see.”
Jane’s eyes glowed with blue.
Simultaneously, the scene in front of me changed from the minister’s office to the inside of the mansion.
At Sebastian’s instructions, the Emperor’s maids, who had carried the jewelry with them, began to get out the building.
However, with an eye on me, one of the maids placed fingernail-sized crystals across the room.
It was an audio recorder.
“Of course.”
A woman with fiery red hair and a commanding demeanor.
She was a spy sent by the Emperor.
She seemed to have went to tremendous pains to hide her identity.
I’m sorry, but I did catch her.
“Funny.”
He don’t believe me, so he send a spy.
I am so sure he can fool me with these tricks.
The Emperor, Vendancourt.
It’s not unexpected that they’re all so eager to devour me.
“Enough.”
My vision snapped back to the minister’s office.
“How is that possible?”
“Jane, save your words for now. You may not realize it, but I could be in danger.”
Jane’s mouth dropped open at that.
Snow White, drinking her jasmine tea, stared at us, confused.
“What, is there a problem?”
“No, no. It’s nothing. I just wanted to check on something.”
I stood up and calmed the frightened foreign princess.
“Now that we’re done here, I’d better get back to work.”
“Oh, I’ll…….”
I grabbed Snow White’s hand as she spoke.
“This is only a temporary stay, so follow me. Let me show you my mansion.”
Now that we’ve gotten the important things out of the way, let’s make sure our guests are well taken care of.
***
Me and Snow White returned to the mansion.
The mansion was full of newly hired maids.
“Welcome, ……. Huh?”
Seria was taken aback when she noticed Snow White following me.
“Who is she…?”
“A guest. Please serve her well.”
“Now, wait a minute, she’s a barbarian…?”
Seria trembled.
“Don’t be so presumptuous, she is an honored guest.”
“Oh, I apologize.”
Sebastian soon came.
“My lord, you have a new guest?”
“Give her the right room.”
“Don’t worry, sir. Madame, this way.”
Sebastian expertly guided her within.
“I, uh, I would like Mr. Maurice to take me to my room.”
Snow White, who had remained still, looked at me and sighed.
However, I shook my head.
“You are my guest.”
Only once in an aristocratic family would the head of the household personally show a female guest to her room.
Only a bride who has taken a life-long vow of marriage.
It didn’t matter if it was a judge or the government.
“In Seria, things are different.
Sebastian didn’t exist back then.
Snow White was aware of the consequences of her actions.
“Sebastian will guide you.”
I had no intention of doing so.
Snow White dropped her head, her face expressionless, in response to my stubborn refusal.
“I see, that was too much to ask.”
I noticed a strange glare on Snow White’s back as she went upstairs to be shown the room by Sebastian.
“Hmm?”
I turn my head to look in the direction of the stare.
Seria’s lips was open and her cheeks was flushed.
