Became the Terminally Ill Supporting Male Lead’s Rabbit Spirit - Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Su Ci hadn’t expected to truly turn back into a human.
Standing in front of an old-fashioned wardrobe, she opened its doors only to discover that Lu Zhe didn’t have many clothes. Among the few pieces, two were school uniforms.
With no other choices, Su Ci donned Lu Zhe’s school uniform.
Her height now was roughly the same as before she transmigrated, probably about 168 cm. The blue and white school uniform was both broad and long on her, with its hem reaching her thighs. The trousers were also too long, and she rolled up the cuffs several times to reveal her slender, snow-white ankles adorned with the red string.
Su Ci was very curious about her current appearance. Being a beauty-conscious girl, she undoubtedly hoped she looked gorgeous in her human form.
A small square mirror hung on the bathroom wall. It was not very large but was enough for Su Ci to get a clear view of herself.
In the mirror, the young girl had a fair complexion and red lips, with refined features. Her eyes were bright and clear, with a small teardrop-shaped mole underneath, adding an enchanting, charming touch.
Back before her transmigration, her looks were famously beautiful in the entertainment industry. But now, her face was even more attractive.
Her looks used to exude innocence, making people feel protective at just a slight pout. Now, her appearance was both pure and seductive. As she lifted the corner of her eyes, the mole made her gaze even more captivating, holding one’s attention unwaveringly.
Was she sure she turned into a rabbit spirit and not a fox spirit?
Su Ci touched her face, feeling its smooth, fine, and translucent texture. It felt so pleasant that she couldn’t stop herself from touching it again and again.
Not to mention her figure—slender waist and a full chest. Even though she was wearing the baggy school uniform, one could still notice the significant curvature.
The more Su Ci looked at herself, the more satisfied she became. This body was simply flawless. If one had to point out any shortcoming, it would be that it was too perfect.
She called out to Fu Gui, “Am I now the most beautiful woman in the world?”
Fu Gui: [I don’t know.]
“Hmm?” Su Ci sounded threatening.
Fu Gui, trembling with fear: [In Fu Gui’s eyes, the master is the most beautiful in the world.]
Su Ci curved her lips, “How long will my human form last?” She couldn’t believe that a single kiss from Lu Zhe would allow her to maintain her human body indefinitely.
Fu Gui: [5 hours. A kiss can add an additional hour.]
Su Ci narrowed her eyes, “So you’re saying the next time I kiss Lu Zhe, I can maintain this form for 6 hours, right?”
Fu Gui: [Exactly.]
Su Ci glanced at the clock on the wall. It was past seven now, which meant she would turn back into a rabbit around twelve at noon.
She didn’t have much time.
The streets were bustling in the morning. Pedestrians hurried along, either rushing to school or work. The brilliant sunlight shone on the trees lining the streets, casting shades of green.
A girl, wearing an oversized, ill-fitting school uniform and shoes that were several sizes too big, walked from a distance. Her exquisite face made passersby turn their heads for another look.
Su Ci wanted to grab some breakfast, but realized she didn’t have a penny on her. She had passed by a breakfast shop on the way, almost crying from the delicious smells.
She was so hungry!
She stopped at a crosswalk, waiting for the green light.
“You’re so pretty, sister,” a childish voice said next to her.
Looking down, Su Ci saw it was Xiao Kuaile. Standing behind him was Boss Fang, who was busy on a phone call.
“Sister, you’re beautiful.”
Xiao Kuaile’s eyes brightened when Su Ci looked at him. He rummaged in his pocket and took out two candies.
“For you, sister.”
Xiao Kuaile generously offered a candy to Su Ci.
Su Ci looked at his chubby little hand and noticed the lifespan marker on his wrist. The red line that once represented one day was now fainting, nearly disappearing. Next to it was a label: 30 seconds.
Su Ci’s eyes darkened.
Her heart skipped a beat.
With his cherubic face bathed in sunlight, Xiao Kuaile looked like a little angel, “Sister, eat the candy.”
Whether she was a rabbit or had transformed back into a human, Xiao Kuaile always liked to offer Su Ci candies.
20 seconds.
17 seconds.
12 seconds.
The red line was so faint it was almost invisible.
Su Ci could hear her own heart pounding wildly, and her throat felt choked up.
10 seconds.
Next to her, a young boy on a scooter tripped over a raised section of the pavement. Unable to stop himself in time, he fell in their direction.
In his panic, the young boy’s hand pushed Xiao Kuaile’s wheelchair towards the road.
People watched in horror as the tiny wheelchair quickly slid out into the street.
“Fu Gui!”
Su Ci’s brain seemed to freeze for a moment.
Boss Fang, who was on the phone, saw a car approaching, about to hit his son’s wheelchair and his face turned pale with fear.
“Ahh!” Someone screamed in panic, seeing the child about to be crushed by the car.
The next second.
The mini wheelchair was caught by an exceptionally fair hand.
Su Ci pulled the wheelchair back with force, rolling on the ground to avoid the car that barely missed her.
The breeze created by the passing car blew through her long hair.
Her shoes were too big. When Su Ci lunged forward, she stumbled and fell to the ground.
She was so close to not being able to save Xiao Kuaile.
Boss Fang’s legs went weak from fear.
He rushed to his son, and seeing that he was unharmed, immediately approached the girl, intending to help her up.
Ignoring Boss Fang’s outstretched hand, Su Ci got up on her own, brushing the dirt off her clothes.
“Thank you, young lady. I’m so grateful to you,” Boss Fang said, his voice shaky. He bowed deeply to Su Ci, his face full of gratitude.
He had almost lost his son.
Now his legs felt like jelly, and his hands trembled.
Meanwhile, the young man on the scooter was also stunned. He had almost caused someone’s death.
Being young and having never encountered such a terrifying situation, he timidly apologized to Boss Fang, “I’m … I’m sorry. It was an accident.”
“You nearly killed my son with your carelessness! If it weren’t for this young lady …”
Boss Fang thought of the dangerous situation where the car had just missed the girl, took a deep breath, and scolded, “Isn’t the square and park enough for you to play with your scooter? Why do you have to use it on the main road? Do you know how dangerous it is?”
“I’m sorry.” The young man’s eyes reddened. He was also frightened.
“It’s my fault too. I should have held onto my son’s wheelchair tightly and never let go.” Boss Fang glanced at his son, Xiao Kuaile, and began to blame himself.
People around murmured and sighed, never expecting to witness such a thrilling scene on their way to work.
Luckily, the girl saved the child.
As they looked at the girl, they realized how beautiful she was.
It truly justified the saying, ‘beautiful inside and out’. She saved two families – the child’s father and the young man.
Boss Fang quickly asked Su Ci, “Young lady, did you hurt yourself? How about I take you to the hospital for a check-up? It won’t be good if you got injured.”
At this moment, Boss Fang was immensely grateful to Su Ci. His son was his life, and since Su Ci saved his son, she was his lifesaver.
“I’m fine,” Su Ci shook her head.
She knew that Xiao Kuaile was going to lose his life, so when the wheelchair started sliding away, she reacted faster than anyone else.
“You saved our lives. I really don’t know how to repay you,” Boss Fang, still emotional, wondered how to express his gratitude to the young lady in front of him.
“No need,” she replied. It was just a natural reaction.
“Pretty sister, have some candy.” Xiao Kuaile, with his chubby little hands, still held two candies, oblivious to the fact that he had just had a close brush with death.
Su Ci lowered her gaze and noticed that the life value on Xiao Kuaile’s wrist had turned into seven yellow blocks.
Xiao Kuaile now had at least seventy years of life left.
She took a candy from Xiao Kuaile’s hand, “Thank you.”
After leaving,
With the candy from Xiao Kuaile in her mouth, Su Ci asked Fu Gui, “Why did Xiao Kuaile’s life span become seventy years after being saved?”
Fu Gui was indulging in a golden-yellow, sweet treat that looked like cotton candy, a reward it received after Su Ci’s heroic act.
Satisfyingly burping, Fu Gui replied, [When the death knot is untied, the lifespan returns to its normal state.]
Su Ci squinted her eyes. So, if Xiao Kuaile hadn’t died this time, he was supposed to live until he was in his seventies.
Fu Gui: [Master, why did you save him?] It thought she wouldn’t save anyone.
Su Ci: “Didn’t you hear him call me a pretty sister?”
Fu Gui: [……]
So, did its master like being showered with compliments?
……
Inside the computer store.
After school, Lu Zhe received a call from Boss Fang, asking him to come over.
Boss Fang had calmed down by now. He recounted the morning’s terrifying incident to Lu Zhe, “Thank goodness for that brave young girl, otherwise…”
He shuddered at the memory.
Lu Zhe was taken aback to hear about what had happened that morning.
He glanced at Xiao Kuaile who was sitting in his wheelchair. The little boy had a sweet candy in his mouth and his eyes were gleaming with joy. Hearing his dad’s words, he chirped, “The pretty sister ate my candy.”
Lu Zhe gently patted his head with his cold hand.
“Ah Zhe, the young girl didn’t say anything, she just took a candy from Kuaile and left. For such a great favor, I haven’t thanked her properly.”
Boss Fang asked Lu Zhe, “She was wearing the uniform from your school, so she must be a student from Yi High School. She has fair and delicate features. Do you know her?”
Lu Zhe remained silent.
Boss Fang continued, “Such a pretty girl must stand out in your school. She probably is the school’s beauty.” In his opinion, it would be hard to find someone as beautiful as her in the school.
“I want to find her and formally thank her.” Boss Fang emphasized that he needed to express his gratitude properly for such a great favor.
Lu Zhe typically didn’t pay much attention to the girls at school, so he found it hard to respond to Boss Fang’s query.
It seemed that Boss Fang understood Lu Zhe’s nature and didn’t press the issue.
After wandering around outside for a while, Su Ci returned to Lu Zhe’s residence.
She only realized after stepping out that Lu Zhe lived in an old residential complex. There was minimal greenery around, only an open-air parking lot and a bicycle shed. The roof of the shed was rusty and looked very old.
Entering the living room, Su Ci found a piece of bread in the refrigerator that had been left overnight. The bread had become cold and hard. She nibbled on it pitifully. If she wasn’t about to turn back into a rabbit soon, she would’ve preferred to make instant noodles rather than chew on cold bread.
Just as she finished the last bite of the bread, the sound of keys jingling echoed from the door.
Startled, Su Ci wondered if Lu Zhe was back.
Reacting instinctively before she could think it through, she leapt off the couch, ran back to the bedroom, and hid inside the wardrobe. Her heart racingas she checked her appearance before diving into hiding.
Lu Zhe left the computer store and decided to swing by his place to pick up something.
Walking to the fridge, he took out a bottle of water and was about to open it when he noticed that the bread was gone.
Lu Zhe close the fridge with the water bottle in his slender fingers, turned around and noticed a clear plastic bag on the sofa. The bag had traces of oil and bread crumbs.
His expression darkened. Lu Zhe glanced around and then headed to his bedroom with determined steps.
He found that the cardboard box, which was originally on the ground, had been flattened, and the rabbit inside had disappeared.
His stoic face radiated a cold aura, and Lu Zhe’s piercing gaze settled on the wardrobe.
Inside, Su Ci hugged her legs, her black, smooth hair cascading down her back naturally. Her fair face, with an inexplicable vulnerable look, seemed rather pitiful.
Why did she hide?
Su Ci pursed her lips, trying to calm her racing heart. It wasn’t that she was afraid of Lu Zhe. She was just uncertain about how to face him now that she was human again.
Outside, Lu Zhe licked his teeth and reached out, opening the wardrobe directly.
Inside, a little white bunny sat calmly on his clothes, its red eyes staring blankly at him.
Lu Zhe: …
How did the rabbit get into his wardrobe?
He leaned down to pick up the bunny, and in the next moment, he paused. He lifted his school uniform, noticing a black smudge on the back.
He sniffed it; it was the smell of gasoline.
Su Ci was taken aback, realizing she must’ve brushed against some spilled gasoline on the road when she was rescuing the boy.
She looked up, trying to catch a glimpse of Lu Zhe’s expression, but she only saw the firm line of his chin and couldn’t gauge his facial reaction.
The next day, the class was bustling.
When Zhao Youyou arrived at her seat, her deskmate Ling Hui immediately leaned in and said, “Youyou, I heard that our school received a thank-you letter from someone outside of our school. They said that a very pretty girl from our school saved his son, and the principal is taking this matter very seriously.”
Ling Hui winked at Zhao Youyou, “Although everyone is guessing whether it was you or the school beauty who saved the person, I know it was you. Only you took a day off from school yesterday.” She hugged Zhao Youyou’s arm, “Youyou, I’m right, aren’t I? You saved that person, right?”
Recalling how she helped a child who had fallen on the road the previous morning, Zhao Youyou nodded in affirmation.
