Became the Terminally Ill Supporting Male Lead’s Rabbit Spirit - Chapter 3
Chapter 3
When Lu Zhe came back after filling up the water, he noticed that the rabbit that was originally on the desk had somehow jumped to the floor.
He picked up the snowball-like bunny.
Being held in the young man’s icy palm, Su Ci sighed in relief. That had been exhausting for her.
The bell rang, signaling the end of the period, and the students returned to the classroom one after another. After the active sports class, everyone seemed energized, and the atmosphere was lively with students chatting and joking around.
Amidst the hustle and bustle, Lu Zhe, who was quietly reading, seemed isolated from the commotion.
Li Dongliang, drenched in sweat, entered the classroom while bouncing a basketball. His hair and back were soaked. He returned to his seat, took a few gulps from his drink, then leaned back on his chair and sat down. Glancing at Lu Zhe beside him, he thought about how while the other boys had been playing basketball, Lu Zhe could only sat alone inside the classroom. It seemed rather pitiful.
Jia Mingyang, sitting in the front row, was searching for his watch.
“It’s gone,” Furrowing his eyebrows as he rummaged through his drawer, Jia Mingyang frowned.
The classmate next to him asked in surprise, “How can it just disappear? Maybe you dropped it somewhere?”
He remembered Jia Mingyang’s watch was bought this month, a gift his father brought back from abroad. It worth a five-digit sum, and when he shown it off to everyone, it aroused everyone’s envy.
“I put my watch in the drawer before the sports class. It couldn’t have fallen anywhere else,” Jia Mingyang said with certainty.
“Could it have been stolen?” his deskmate was shocked.
“My watch doesn’t have legs, so it must have been stolen.”
Jia Mingyang immediately walked to the last row, slapped Lu Zhe’s desk, and directly questioned, “Did you steal my watch?”
Inside the drawer, when Su Ci heard the boy questioning Lu Zhe, she perked up her bunny ears, ready to witness the unfolding drama.
Lu Zhe lifted his gaze, looking directly at the other party.
“My watch is missing, and you were the only one in the classroom just now. Did you take it?” Jia Mingyang’s voice was loud, drawing the attention of the surrounding students. Zhao Youyou, who had just returned to the classroom, was taken aback by the confrontation.
Meeting Lu Zhe’s icy stare, Jia Mingyang remained undeterred, “Return my watch.”
Lu Zhe responded, “I don’t have your watch.”
“My watch was in the drawer, and you were the only one in the classroom. If not you, then who?” Jia Mingyang’s tone was affirmative, which fueled discussion among the onlookers.
Lu Zhe coldly sneered, “You’re talking nonsense.”
Jia Mingyang tilted his chin up defiantly, “We’ll find out if I’m just talking nonsense after we check your backpack.”
Li Dongliang, who didn’t get along with Jia Mingyang, chimed in lazily, “Without evidence, you have no right to search someone’s belongings. If you suspect your watch was stolen, check the surveillance footage directly.”
“Heh, the surveillance camera broke ??two days ago.” Jia Mingyang said, a smug gleam in his eyes as he looked at Lu Zhe, “If you won’t let us search, I’ll have the teacher do it.”
Inside the drawer, Su Ci sniffed disdainfully. This guy really had no shame.
“Wait,” Zhao Youyou intervened, “We’re all classmates. There’s no need to escalate this.”
She remembered a similar incident in her previous life where Lu Zhe refused to allow a search of his backpack, prompting Jia Mingyang to involve a teacher. In the end, the watch was found in Lu Zhe’s bag. Even though he denied the allegations, the evidence was undeniable, leading to a disciplinary mark on his record.
She couldn’t let history repeat itself.
Zhao Youyou looked at Lu Zhe with a complicated expression, then softly asked Jia Mingyang, “If you’re allowed to search the bag, you won’t report it to the teacher?”
Jia Mingyang had a good attitude toward Zhao Youyou who suddenly become beautiful, replied, “Correct. But I’m sure Lu Zhe stole my watch. He needs to apologize to me and run ten laps around the field.”
Hearing this, the surrounding students gasped.
Running ten laps might be a bit exhausting for others, but for Lu Zhe, who couldn’t even participate in physical education classes, it was akin to asking for half his life. Such a punishment was exceedingly cruel.
“Brother, let him search. It’s better to run around ten times than escalating the issue,” Zhao Youyou gently advised Lu Zhe.
Having analyzed the situation and recalling how Lu Zhe was labeled a thief and faced prejudice and humiliation in her previous life, Zhao Youyou felt that an apology and some running would be the better way to resolve the matter.
Zhao Youyou analyzed it. In his previous life, Lu Zhe was known to the whole school as a thief and suffered discrimination and abuse. Now he only needs to apologize and go to the playground to calm the matter. It is obviously more beneficial to choose the latter.
In the drawer, Su Ci gritted her teeth as she heard Zhao Youyou’s wo4de. Didn’t Zhao Youyou just indirectly admit that Lu Zhe took the watch?
Was Zhao Youyou trying to help or frame Lu Zhe? As Lu Zhe’s sister in name, she should at least trust him a bit, right?
Feeling annoyed, Su Ci secretly poked out from the drawer and raised her head at Lu Zhe.
The young man sat in his chair, his face stiff and cold, eyes slightly lowered. His long eyelashes carried a icy hue, and his thin lips curved in a mocking smirk, “Why should I agree with you?”
Li Dongliang leaned against his chair as if he had no bones, sat back and enjoying the show, chimed in from time to time, “Jia Mingyang, you only mentioned the punishment if Lu Zhe stole your watch. What if he didn’t take it? It’s unjust to falsely accuse him.”
“If Lu Zhe didn’t steal my watch, I’ll apologize to him and run ten laps around the field. Fair enough?” Jia Mingyang said nonchalantly.
“Fifteen laps,” Lu Zhe said coldly.
“Deal,” Jia Mingyang quickly agreed. “Now let me search your bag.” He had long disliked Lu Zhe, especially before Lu Zhe’s background and illness were exposed, the school beauty Jiang Mengqi, had a crush on Lu Zhe.
If Lu Zhe turned out to be a thief, Jiang Mengqi would surely regret ever liking him, and regret even more for rejecting Jia Mingyang for such a person.
“Brother, let him search.” Zhao Youyou, aware of the consequences from her previous life, genuinely hoped the situation wouldn’t escalate.
“Hand over the bag and return my watch,” Jia Mingyang demanded as he yanked the bag from the drawer.
Su Ci, who was amusingly watching the show, had one of her small paws on the bag’s strap. When the bag was pulled away, she toppled over inside the drawer.
Thankfully, she wasn’t hurt, but she was definitely irritated.
When Jia Mingyang got the backpack, his eyes were excited. He opened the bag and emptied its contents onto the desk in front of everyone.
Keys, books, notebooks, pens.
Nothing else.
Where was his watch?
Stunned, Jia Mingyang turned over the empty bag, but there was nothing left.
“Where did you hide my watch? Why isn’t it in your bag?” Jia Mingyang demanded loudly.
Zhao Youyou looked just as surprised. There was no watch in his bag?
Lu Zhe stood up, his tall stature and cold demeanor made people around him feel inexplicably chilly. He sneered, “Now that you see there’s no watch in the bag, are you still trying to frame me?”
“I clearly …” Jia Mingyang said, gritting his teeth in frustration.
“Apologize,” Lu Zhe looked at him coldly.
Jia Mingyang clenched his fists, looking both embarrassed and angry.
“Jia Mingyang, is this your watch?”
Over there, a male student picked up a watch with a broken surface from beside the trash can. It was covered with a sticky liquid, probably juice someone had thrown away.
Seeing his beloved watch in such a broken and dirty state, Jia Mingyang’s face turned extremely embarrassed.
“Your watch has been found. Tsk, Jia Mingyang, you base your rumors only on your words. Apologize now,” Li Dongliang said with glee, enjoying Jia Mingyang’s downfall.
“So! Rry!” Jia Mingyang’s face turned red with humiliation. How did his watch end up by the trash can?
Lu Zhe sat back on his chair and said in a cold tone, “See you on the playground after school.”
Li Dongliang couldn’t stop laughing, “Right, right, right, Jia Mingyang, you have to run fifteen laps. The entire class heard it. Don’t think about reneging.”
Jia Mingyang shot Li Dongliang a fierce glare, then stormed off, fuming.
Zhao Youyou looked dazed. She wanted to say something to Lu Zhe, but he didn’t even glance at her.
…
The bell rang, signaling the start of the class. After the commotion, everyone hurriedly returned to their seats.
Li Dongliang was about to lie down for a nap when, the next second, he saw a white fluffy ball jump out from the drawer of the desk beside him, landing on Lu Zhe’s lap.
He was so shocked that his eyes widened.
It was a little baby rabbit about the size of a palm, covered in snow-white fur. Its ears were a soft pinkish-white, and its eyes were as red as gemstones. Oh my, it was so adorable!
Watching the little rabbit nuzzle its head gently against Lu Zhe’s palm, so soft and cute, was truly heartwarming.
Li Dongliang immediately shifted his desk, which he referred to as his ‘Chu River Han Border’¹, closer to Lu Zhe. Leaning in, he asked, “Lu Zhe, did you bring a rabbit to school?”
The rabbit’s nuzzling made Lu Zhe’s palm feel ticklish. He simply responded, “Hmm.”
“Can I pet it?”
Li Dongliang’s eyes remained fixed on the little rabbit, unwilling to look away. Such a small bundle, it must feel incredibly soft to touch.
“No.” Lu Zhe looked at the blackboard, his fingertips lightly pinching the tips of the little rabbit’s ears.
Su Ci’s rabbit ears were very sensitive. Touched by Lu Zhe’s slender fingers, she felt so ticklish that she just slumped down.
Don’t pinch her ears!
Li Dongliang was persistent. With a bashful expression on his face, he went from being the little tyrant of the class just a moment ago to now acting all humble. “I just stood up against Jia Mingyang for you. Let me pet the little bunny.”
Li Dongliang was tall and sturdy, but he had always loved pink and fluffy animals since he was a kid. His backpack was a bright pink, his shoes were pink, and even his socks were pink. If it weren’t for the school uniform, he would undoubtedly wear pink every day. As for fluffy animals, his mother was allergic to animal fur, so they couldn’t keep pets at home. Otherwise, he’d definitely have ten of them at home.
Seeing the soft and cute little rabbit, he couldn’t help but want to touch it.
Lu Zhe directly exposed him, “You were just there for the drama.”
Li Dongliang, being thick-skinned, immediately bargained, “I’ll buy you breakfast for a month if you let me touch it.”
Lu Zhe refused, “No.”
“Then, I’ll give you a hundred yuan, can you lend me the bunny for an hour?” Li Dongliang knew that Lu Zhe had been kicked out of his foster family’s home, and he needed money for medical treatment. He probably didn’t have much on him.
Su Ci raised her head to glance at this crazy fan. She didn’t want to be petted by him. Her two little paws clung to Lu Zhe’s fingers, and she buried her head in his palm.
Lu Zhe felt warmth from the little snowball nuzzling his palm. He smirked, “No.”
Li Dongliang wanted to say something more, but he was glared at by the math teacher at the podium. He sheepishly closed his mouth, only to watch Lu Zhe pet the rabbit with envy.
The rabbit’s ears were pink and white, so cute.
The rabbit’s nose was also light pink, so cute.
The rabbit’s little feet were fluffy and white, so cute.
Li Dongliang gradually became infatuated.
…
After school.
Su Ci was held by Lu Zhe. She sat upright in his cold palm, watching Jia Mingyang sweating profusely as he angrily ran down the sports field under the scorching sun.
He deserved it!
Recalling how she had bitten that watch and thrown it next to the trash can without being able to wash her mouth afterwards, Su Ci wished he had to run a few more laps.
Watching Jia Mingyang running the tenth lap, his pace getting slower and slower, Lu Zhe remained expressionless, showing no sympathy for him at all.
During the confrontation, Jia Mingyang was certain that his watch was in the backpack. However, when the bag was searched, the watch was not there, leaving Jia Mingyang in shock.
He was astounded that the watch wasn’t in the backpack.
Lu Zhe’s gaze deepened.
So, Jia Mingyang had placed the watch in his backpack, but for some unknown reason, the watch ended up next to the trash bin.
He looked down at the rabbit in his palm, recalling that when he returned with water, the rabbit was on the floor.
He lifted the rabbit to eye level, their gazes meeting.
Su Ci blinked, her red eyes shimmering and watery.
She believes in returning favors, quick, give her a kiss!
